140BHP in a mini that weighs around 600-700KG because of all that cage tubing, but if you’ve been in a mini with just 90BHP you would realise how fast these BEST CLASSIC MINIS really are. My first car was a mini 1275GT at the ripe young age of 18 and I absolutely thrashed it . Now I’m 47 and still think 1 day I’ll build another it’s just something every mini owner goes through. You forget about the scraped knuckles changing engine mounts, or the damn oil-leaks or the crappy heater because they are just SOO MUCH FUN. SCOOBS UK (Wales).

But when you put a substantial cage in a mini you can replace much of the shell with fibreglass or even carbon fibre if you can afford it. Plus theyve had all internals gutted and windows changed for polycarb unlike road going minis without cages. So the weight is probably still less despite the cage.

Interested in access to the plugs? Do the throttle bodies have to be removed first?

Currently in the process of building a 1460 8 port. Any recommendations on how I can purchase the throttle body’s separate as I would like too also run the omex ecu. Been informed through mini spairs there only available in kit form?
@MEDEngineeringTechVideos5 жыл бұрын
The DTA ECU is just as good as the Omex. We'd use either.

Great car. I didn't hear how much HP that engine puts out and how much would that engine / gearbox cost?
@MEDEngineeringTechVideos5 жыл бұрын
A ballpark estimate would be 140bhp, but so much depends on the rolling road, so we don't like to be too specific on this as it can be misleading. Cost depends largely on the builder and components used.

And the iconic British car is now built by BMW who stole it
@MEDEngineeringTechVideos5 жыл бұрын
Hardly, they bought the marque along with Rover and kept the classic going for another six years.
@realMaverickBuckley5 жыл бұрын
@@MEDEngineeringTechVideos Yep it was purchased and thank god they did or the mini really would be died. Plus I love my Supercharged R53 nearly as much as the ERA.
@skylined55342 жыл бұрын
@@MEDEngineeringTechVideos To be fair the BMW Mini was cherry picked by BMW as someone clearly saw the potential in it. The earliest development cars had Rover chassis numbers and Rover etched glass. It is what it is. I'm just happy an essentially Rover product lived on long after the death of its parent company. BMW have kept it going a little longer than 6 years too! (I know what you meant though!)
@skylined55342 жыл бұрын
@@realMaverickBuckley Why thank God exactly? The new Mini could have been the thing to save Rover. They were left with long in the tooth models (despite the ZS V6 for all its aging origins being described as one of the best FWD cars available at the time) and a quartet of clowns who had fun stripping the carcass and spending money on ridiculous ventures like a super car (just what every ailing car company needs), Le Mans and a venture into the BTCC not to mention all the extravagance and spending on luxuries. Rover never stood a chance and while I absolutely don't hold BMW responsible for the company's demise I do hold the Towers shower absolutely to blame. I honestly think they never had any intention to salvage the company. Have a look at their previous endeavours.
@philtucker12245 күн бұрын
Only the name buddy, they haven’t stolen any of the original mini design. You can still buy a “brand new” classic mini in the U.K. if you want one..
