How would that work with a laptop running mint

Jason , how do you , other than by trial and error , determine which of the multitude of possible nodes to use for your connections? You like K0SI , what process led you to that node? Thanks - again a great video!
@KM4ACK5 жыл бұрын
Mostly by trial and error. Knowing how your antenna performs is also a plus. I mostly use NVIS antennas so I know most stations beyond 750 miles are typically out of the question. In the video, my antenna was only about 6 feet off the ground. If I was using a vertical antenna, I wouldn't try stations closer to me. You can also use propagation prediction software to help. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKrIZ32hfrWMj5I I have 2 40M stations that I can usually get into and 2 more on 80M. I use 40M during the day and 80M after sunset. Occasionally propagation won't allow a connection to a station that I can normally connect with. Thanks for watching! de KM4ACK

@@KM4ACK If I am using a vertical antenna, what would you suggest for the different HF bands for distance? New to ardop and want to get it working.

@@KB5WCK_Radio Try 40M in the 500-1000KM range.

@@KM4ACK Thanks. Any idea what "poor frame type decode" means?

Hi, Jason. When I try this, it fails. I'm using a homebrew dipole (indoor antenna). What I see on the piardopc screen is this (when I'm just trying to receive): Input peaks = -27231, 22344 Prior-Offset= -1.469696 EnvelopeCorrelator CorMax:MaxProd= 65.308594 J= 157 [Acquire2ToneLeaderSymbolFraming] intIatMinError= -1 Frame Decode type 2d 4a f4 Dist 0.52 0.50 0.55 Sess ff pend 0 conn 0 lastsess 0 [Frame Type Decode Fail] Ldr; S:N(3KHz) Early= -12.146866 dB, Full -14.158823 dB, Offset= 54.787277 Hz: MD Decode;5 Type1=H2D, Type2=H4A, D1= 0.52, D2= 0.50 poor frame type decode Input peaks = -25857, 22882 So, I don't even know what station I'm hearing. I"m assuming that I need to try a different antenna, although I'm limited to indoor ones right now. Any suggestions otherwise? Thanks. Patrick W0PCD

I should add that the line which says "[Acquire2ToneLeaderSymbolFraming] intIatMinError=" changes between -1, 1, and 2.

Patrick Dickey Useless. Try to connect to some RMS and see what it gives you.
@PatrickDickey527614 жыл бұрын
When I try to connect to an rms, I just get a timeout error. Fwiw, I can't connect with winlink on windows either. I'm thinking it's the soundcard. Or my antenna, as there's too much noise.
@АндрейДенисюк-ш7п4 жыл бұрын
Patrick Dickey First check that sound card actually produces output. It sounds like old dial-up modem. Many radios have Monitor future so you can hear what it transmits. Check that there is actually output power from the radio and the input audio level is not overdriven. ALC shouldn’t throttle the PA of the radio. And try various RMS on different bands at different times, oftentimes the nearest doesn’t mean the best. Good luck! 73 RA0UFF

How is the PI controlling the PTT if you are not using rig control?

Through the signalink soundcard. The signalink has vox built in. Thanks for watching. de KM4ACK

what is the modulation , is it usb ? Thanks

ARDOP connections as well as other digital modes are almost always USB.

PAT now has all the station information in it, so that script is now redundant. You didn't go into how you set the dial, what filter, USB or LSB.
