I agree %1000 at 19 i joined a shop witch had robotic welders ( where i started ) and after hours id stay after and come in early off of the clock to learn how to weld from guys who have done it for years after several months i was good enough to mig weld for that shop and they put me to work then i i wanted to learn how to tig weld and learned that in a couple of months i busted my ass and achieved one of my dreams at 20 years old, and another lesson i thing some other younger guys should know if you have to WALK AWAY if it is harming you in a significant way. or you have experienced it and are not happy don't do something you don't want to do because before you know it your 40 and miserable. i ended up leaving that shop for similar reasons now im following another dream of mine. AND GUYS DON'T LET YOUR FEAR OF BEING EMASCULATED GET IN THE WAY OF ASKING FOR HELP. nothing wrong with needing help and something for the older guys never to old to learn something ive taught several older guys some new tricks. Thanks Ave for the video perfect timing for me right now with my current goal in mind it will be a very difficult one both physically and mentally. i hope one day you have a fan day or something so i can buy you some beer and have a chat.

I'm 24 now, just put $12k out of pocket into buying my first house (a project house) a day after my bday. 3 months into it now, lots of drywall, click lock, and a ton of stress later.. my house is nearly finished. I owe less than half of what its worth, and I have it mapped out to have it paid off before I'm 30. Can't be "depressed" when you're busy. I turn 40 next month and only just learning these lessons, but there's nothing you can do about time gone by, just have to start trying to do the right thing today. If you know you should leave your situation, then LEAVE IT. You don't want to wake up another ten years from now in the same fucking place with the knowledge that you knew and still did nothing. You might not even get another 10 years, you could be hit by a bus or get a cancer diagnosis or any number of things could happen, life is short, don't waste it like I have. And if you need to develop mental toughness, treat it like building muscle at the gym - start small and build up over time with consistency, you don't have to go straight from zero to hero in a week. And don't quit altogether if you come off the rails a bit - as long as you keep getting back on, that's the crucial thing.

I’m 30 and I’ve probably listened to this 30 times. I wish I would’ve heard this when I was 18 instead of being told that I needed an attainable job with security. Fast forward 12 years; I’ve graduated college and quit the 8-5. I’m now living my dream which is selling classic cars and parts. I’m happily married. We have a beautiful home. Bighorn44 None I had a college professor once tell me they we a horrible teacher. They knew how to play and could help with musicianship, but technique always came easy. They never had to work at it. Technique was hard for me, but I do struggle teaching some aspects of musicianship and audiation, those were easy for me. I’ve had to learn how to teach those things to my students. It’s easy to teach something that was hard to learn as you had to try every method until one worked. Uncle Bumblefuck mentioned that in the video.

I've listened to this before but I needed to listen again today. I'm a dad, husband, Army vet, engineering career field. Taking grad school courses to get my MS Mechanical engineering and I just found out I did not pass my class (differential equations on steroids) this semester. Felt bad for myself about it for a day or 2 thinking about having to retake that dreaded class and about the $$$$ I wasted because I didn't put in the work needed. Taking it as a lesson learned that I need to relearn academic discipline after having been in industry for a few years and out of the classroom bubble. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. I'm at the far end of my working career, and Community College is your best friend. Take all the machinist classes offered, I never worked a single day as a machinist, but the knowledge gained was invaluable as a mechanic and later as an electrician. Do it now- college or vocational school is SO much easier to do at 20 versus 40. But if you're 40, still do it, you've still got time to change your life.

It got depressing when I couldn’t achieve them and would get very depressed. later in life I found out it’s not really about the goals it’s not really about the discipline it’s about being motivated, after you’re motivated the goals and the discipline all fall into place. Motivation. Why you do something. Purpose. Why you should do something.

Truth truth truth! Preach! I was assessed at 13 years old as having a 2nd grade reading ability after never having attended school. At 18, I wasn't much better after being passed through school when my parents were reported to the county and I was forced to enter school, but I had goals and dreams. I reached the largest of milestones I could conceive of in 2012 when I received my B.S. in mechanical engineering. Life is nothing without goals and without impacting the ones around you. Man, the amount of wisdom contained within this video is just crazy. Long story short, I was that dude, living with mom, fuckin around and playing video games all day every day. I won't lie, it's definitely fun for a little while, but after about 5 years I was in fact about ready to off myself because I was indeed miserable. I had no money, no car, no job, no motivation, no goals, no aspirations, no hope for my own life. Once I figured out a lot of the stuff that is spoken about in this video, I was finally able to start pulling myself out of that hole. By no means is it easy, shit, I've been at it a couple years now and I'm still not fully out of that hole, but I have come a long way in a fairly short period of time. Nowadays I'm an apprentice mechanic, I have my own car, my own money, my own goals and dreams, and the motivation to work towards making them happen. If you're a young person struggling to find your way in this world like me, listen up and listen real good to what ol AvE has to say here. There's a pretty good chance it'll help you out a lot. Take it from me, a guy that's seen both sides of this particular coin.

I just wanted to share a little personal reaction to this video right now. Besides you're usual vernacular entertainment, this video got me over the line on a video project I've been working on. After effects causing me all sorts of issues (more than usual!), fault finding and process of elimination gave me the result after four hours of patient trial and error, I just had to implement it. It's late, I'm already mentally and physically broken (unrelated to this) and was about to retire to confirm my fix in the morning. "60% left in the tank" came up as a digital kick up the arse. I took a man up pill and continued on. Fix worked, project finished, off to bed with piece of mind. Thank you, I will watch this again. Keep up the great work!
