honestly, for most competitive purposes AMD is a completely fine and reasonable GPU. RayTracing is a gig barely used by most PC players. Its a nice to have in solo games, but vast majority of PC gamers trying to save money are getting a GPU for competitive gaming purposes; examples are heavier titles like COD or APEX.

Apex is something that I've tried to play. I almost never got any frame drops even on the higher graphics settings. Works great for me.
@RepublicofODLUM2 күн бұрын
Its all quite simple tbh. Unless you're getting a 4080super or 4090 (the cards with 16+ vram, that can actually handle raytracing and high res enough to be able to benefit from DLSS), you're better off going with AMD imo. The 4070ti super isnt a bad card, but even then you're better off with a 7900gre or xt as the 4070tisuper wont be able to maintain 60fps with full raytracing on modern titles without dlss, but it cant run a high enough resolution to take advantage of DLSS as upscaling anything below 1440p is rough

I can't agree more. Though, I don't say that I hate the Nvidia GPU. But AMD has pricings that I am more comfortable with.
@RepublicofODLUM2 күн бұрын
@@canadianlukki For sure, and I'm not hating on Nvidia either. The pc I built recently is a 4080super/7600x and I love it, but if I could go back in time I'd probably go for a 7900xt or gre. Raytracing is awesome, and I wanted to truly experience it just to see with my own eyes (not a distorted youtube video) whether it's really worth it. With how limited the games are that actually take full advantage of it, I cant say it was worth the premium I paid to get it if I'm being honest. Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk, Hogwarts Legacy and Metro Exodus are the only ones I can think of that truly stood out to me as like "wow, this is amazing". Its still an amazing card though, its awesome to not really have to worry about whether or not ill be able to run a game at high settings 60fps as even in pure raster it absolutely destroys anything I throw at it, and certainly will do for the foreseeable future

History: all Nvidia cards through dx9 were garbage, all sold via marketing. DAWN DEMO. Cheating in 3dmark. Dx10 changed because ATI made garbage, Nvidia had better cards. AMD bought ATI and completely screwed up the drivers. This all changed with the 290X, AMD's first dx12 card. But not the marketing. Nvidia then capitalized on RT even though it runs terrible, and used DLSS to justify lowering your resolution. AMD however makes their cards for native resolution, and not RT that it sucks at. This will likely adjust by next Gen when AMD brings out AI upscaling with more RT support. The AMD "hate" is not based in reality. It's a mental illness. This is caused by SUNK COST FALLACY and STOCKHOLM SYNDROME, because people can't handle being taken advantage of and must mentally justify their insanity. Nvidia knows what they are doing by price gouging, and their extreme marketing campaigns. They HAD to rename free sync support as Gsync, because they TRAUMATIZED their users with 100% lies since the beginning. Nvidia stopped lying about freesync immediately after supporting it as well, and you no longer are SPAMMED with hit piece fake articles on it. Think VERY HARD about that, because Nvidia hasn't stopped using those tactics.

Love my GRE I play 1440p and it’s perfect for the games I play and how I play them! Best CPU to pair with it if you’re building new is a Ryzen 5 7600 If you are still on am4 like myself, I highly recommend the 5700x3D, there is a slight bottle neck at times in some titles, but overall it will be fully utilizing the GPU 9 of 10 times 🙏🏽 Also, this card can undervolt VERY well, I run my gigabyte model uv without a memory OC and my power usage is never any higher than 220w, usually closer to 180-190w in the latest, most demanding titles I love this GPU, it’s a great piece of hardware for tinkerers lol

Just upgraded to this card from a 7600 8gb. The difference is astounding! I play Fortnite as well, and the visuals you can get at 1440p high refresh rates are sooo good. Of course, full on ray tracing falls short of the 4070 super. But If I was spending that kind of money, I would get a 7900xt on sale for not much more. Really though, you can't go wrong with any of the three for around the $550 to $650 range give or take.

AMD/ATI GPUs are all I have used since the 9800 pro other than one BFG 6800GT. They have always done me well and I've never had too many driver issues. If I find a driver my rig doesn't work as well on I do what everybody should do, I roll back and wait for the next release. It's mostly been because of price/performance. Fancy lights don't impress me but my card can pull it off if I want to watch my FPS drop in half. Nvidia is better at things I do not do with a video card. I game. That is all.

On my 7900 GRE I slightly modified the memory and core clock, and in black wukon Becnhmark I get higher average fps than a 4080 thanks to SMART access memory, a 4080 on this same system scores 5 fps higher but 10 frames less on average and on minimum 20 fps less. I know because a youtuber I followed did the same exact benchmark with the exact same cpu on the same platform with similair memory but he had a 4080. his 4080 got 100 fps with lows of like 60 and min of like 54, I don't see spikes lower than 74 and spikes of 67. In anycase if you get a AMD gpu, having Smart access memory enabled does help, and saying that probably some good timings and a 3600 mhz on ddr4 or 5200 on ddr5 if possible would probably help.

I would say those when I was researching current gen amd gpus to buy 7900GRE and XT came up ALOT! with most people claiming online GRE and XT is the diminishing return limit and going XTX is just ridiculous and only for those who really want it. Though I would say when comparing which AIB I wanted the 7900gre from powercolor and sapphire was on top with SFX, asus was over priced, so was gigabyte, most considered asrock poor quality etc etc. Why would you go for gigabyte??

Understandable
@JohnDoe-ip3oq16 сағат бұрын
Lack of understanding. AMD doesn't driver cheat like Nvidia, which uses CPU to boost performance in older games, while hurting newer games. There is a work around called DXVK that translates dx to Vulcan. This will massively boost AMD because it bypasses the native limitations, similar to Nvidia. This is ultimately a problem with Microsoft and game devs, which is why these hacks exist. AMD didn't hack their drivers they just invented vulkan. So forcing games to use Vulcan fixes it.

@JohnDoe-ip3oq15 сағат бұрын
AMD uses less vram when using features. Nvidia has bloat using all their features combined like RT+ upscaling+frame gen, with not enough vram. AMD can't bloat RT since you can't max it out anyway lol, plus you get way more RAM anyway. Upscaling is a JOKE ARGUMENT, because AMD has the raw horsepower to run native resolution, and they're soon to release an AI upscaler. It's a brainwashed fanboy talking point that is caused by SUNK COST FALLACY. They OVER SPENT, and must JUSTIFY why they over spent. Even if that is insane. If they admit it, it could cause a mental breakdown. They're suffering from Stockholm Syndrome, loving the abuser. They're not operating using facts and logic, but mental conditioning from abusive marketing. If that wasn't true, they wouldn't be justifying it with dlss. Also, Steve from gamers Nexus just did a review on Intel talking about savings from power use. It's never been a legitimate argument. You won't make back the money in power bills saved from buying a cheaper product. Especially if it's a small margin. It needs to be like a 300W difference to matter, which will take years.

@@canadianlukki no you have no idea. FSR looks garbage in VR. And Meta isnt supporting AMD 7000 gpus, you cant use the meta software, instead you have to use third party software for Quest 3. The reason is because the Zuck ordered a ton of AI GPUS and he wants preferential treatment. Try playing Cyberpunk in VR with FSR, a fairly new game and tell me how it looks at 1080p and 1440p. You need 2 mods, first download cyber engine tweaks and second vorpx newest cyberpunk vr mod. its really simple, there are youtube guides for it.

@@canadianlukki For the FSR, there is the "Optiscaler" and "DLSS enabler" mod which allows you to be able to use the fsr 3.1 and the XeSS in almost all games that support DLSS, and often the modded FSR is much superior to the implemented FSR by the studios, and if you want to have the best possible experience with the FSR, I advise you to do this : If you play in 1440p (2560x1440) use VSR in the Adrealine panel, this allows you to choose the resolution of your choice in games, you increase your resolution by one notch on your game option(2560x1440 => 3072x1728) and activate the FSR 3.1, the result is excellent, identical to the native one, you have more fps and your card consumes less power. It's the best way to take advantage of FSR, really, I use it on almost all my games, and the result is practically identical to the native one, I advise you to try it !
