I think for the metallic line it is best to do them over a basecoat of silver from what I have seen in this video, it looks amazing that way.
@SwordsandBrushes Жыл бұрын
oo yes they are so nice over a metallic basecoat, the colours just seen to shine through that little bit more. It then come across borderline - not quite "speedpaint" but an extension of the metallic range, but they do go on nicely when painting with a brush so either way im happy to use them and i'll experiment more as i go :):)
@plimsplims5 ай бұрын
when you say basecoat of silver, do you mean a regular acrylic silver and not a speedpaint silver, or could I basecoat with speedpaint broadsword silver and then on top apply a second metallic?

@@plimsplims Yes base coat regular silver or what ever compilatory metallic then speed paint over top.

But im very keen to make a Speed Paint Necron video for the SCI-FI channel :)
@McClane4Ever.5 ай бұрын
As one thick coat over smooth wide surfaces it looks decent but anything with edges or details it sucks ass as a "one coat paint". Dry brushing is a solution to that issue but it adds an extra step obviously. Without the drybrush it leaves nearly pure white on the raised edges. Vallejo Metallic Air or regular Vallejo metallic paint with airbrush medium in a 2:1 paint to medium ratio gives you a fast, single coat paint with a wash and/or drybrush that looks much better in the same number of steps. P.S. I did test speedpaint as a wash over standard metallic and I thought the result looked better than the standard wash you'd normally use.
@detroitfusion7793 ай бұрын
I've had pretty good results using non-metallic speedpaint over broadsword & polished silver. Throwing a layer of AP yellow speedpaint over dried polished silver makes a Gold which is more than acceptable to me. Using normal speedpaint over an acrylic silver works just as good, but I'm a lazy dude and try to paint smarter, not harder.

I think the way the two speed paints on top of each other worked could look good with a base of the aztec gold and then a cover of dark copper to give a patina look
@SwordsandBrushes Жыл бұрын
Thats a cool idea right there! I could think of a few uses for that such as "evil armour" or weathered statues! :)
@antongunther3977 Жыл бұрын
Generally you get only 2 tones with the metallic speed paint. The main advantage is that it applies usually in a single coat. If you do want a 3 tone metallic try this ratio: 2 part metallic speed paint 1 part speed paint medium 1 part metallic medium (I personally like proacryl but the AP one should work too).
@SwordsandBrushes Жыл бұрын
Good to know, i think with the speed that these dry at and being none reactive compared to the first set of Speed Paints, it will allow people to get minis done that little bit quicker with some nice results. Im enjoying airbrushing these on lately, and using Grim black gives me a nice shade instantly also :):)

Which brush did you use for the metallic speed paints?
@SwordsandBrushes10 ай бұрын
I tend to use any really and then give them a good clean afterwards. I dont use my best fine detail ones however. If its just to add a basecoat on most table top sized minis i would go for soething like a Army Painter regiment brush, which i thing is about a Standard size for GW. Hope that helps :)

@SwordsandBrushes Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for watching :) oh yes id say if you are using the normal speedpaints over Metallics then you would have so much more variety - im a big fan of that! Especially with an airbrush as you get instant results :) If you are comfortable with that process and happy with the results then i'd save the money and not get these - as with mini painting you can get a similar, if not the same result by doing different methods. And you then have the possibility of just having 492859306859 paints around your desk haha The sprays i am quite impressed with really, i have used the Black, white and Bone colours so far and im happy with the outcome. They seem to come out with a bit more force than GW and Army painter ones, possibly due to the bigger can maybe? But they are smooth :) I may do a short video about them just to show what they are about and what they look like so you can see:)
