@mattjanzen23442 жыл бұрын
It's an equivocation of the term "respect". Many are taught that "respect" simply means not raising your voice or using "foul language" or even disagreeing with what a person is saying. In actuality, real respect includes giving considerate thought and generous interpretation to your interlocutor (and, I'd argue, calling them out when they fail to reciprocate, as it devalues the conversation)

2 corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” I once was full of doubts, didn't want to believe, These are some of the things that have changed in my life since I accepted Christ as my savior. I realised the very life I have is given to me by God himself. I knew that God was in control of my life. I knew that I can trust him with my future and that he was guiding me. I didn’t have to tread through life alone; I have the Creator of the universe by my side. when I put my faith "in Christ" I have became something I was not before. My identity changed from being the fallen version of myself, to being associated with the righteousness of Christ. my life was no longer worldly; is now spiritual. My long-time bad habits that I had tried to give up over a long period of time. I had pretty much accepted that "that's just the way I am", and had just about given up on correcting them, ceased to exist. After I asked Jesus Christ to help me out, my life began changing, unexpectedly, dramatically. All my old dreams and ideas and agendas and purposes were gone and have been replaced by Christ's ideas and agendas and purposes. My old nature-natural pride, love of sin, and my former opinions, habits and passions was replaced with new things, full of life and the glory of God. I became humble and I was being sanctified (made holy) day by day, sinning less and hating it more each time I fail. This is all my evidence, I received peace come to my heart, a miracle after a miracle occurred in my life: The Bible - God's word, I noticed after I received Christ was that I began to have i was unable to explain the desire to read the Bible. I couldn't stop reading. I knew that God was in control of my life. Each day is filled with finding out something new about God through reading the Bible. I stopped smoking, drinking, gambling and no more crazy parties.. And I also noticed that I had been given a deep love for everyone (including people I've never even met). My uncontrolled anger was gone..... I didn't really think at that time that there was so much wrong with lust, but that was now gone too and much more. But the most dramatic difference of all -- one I was not expecting when I prayed continually is my love for God. I have heard the commandment to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind soul and strength" but I'll tell you that I never really followed that before. I kind of believed and hoped in God, but God was not on my first priority list before. Now, He's number One. And it was after that I really now learned to love my neighbors second as myself. I pray to God every day, I read His Word every day, and it's rare that an hour goes by that I don't think of Him. and this is all God's Grace. The only way that you can know for sure, is to have faith in God and let God show you. God needs us to just have a little faith, Just have enough faith to pray to Him for forgiveness of your sins and to trust Jesus for your salvation. Continue praying. Once you do, the Holy Spirit will give you all the "proof" you ever needed! Mark 5:19 And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” A heart that is grateful is overflowing and cannot be silent. It yearns to share with others, to carry the gratefulness and thankfulness within. Now I’m learning to give reasoned answers to people for the hope that I have in Jesus and as I do so I’m also learning that there are answers to people’s questions, even if I don’t know the answers myself. God has all the answers and with God nothing is impossible. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. That's what happened to me, and I got the greatest surprise and the greatest gift of my life. May God bless you!

I don't think people are ignorant for believing in god. I think is more an indoctrination problem. People are not born with the knowledge of the bible, but they are taught from their childhood that something is true and nothing else. There are people more responsive to that indoctrination and some that are not. I talk to my mother (she's 63 years old, in Spain) and when she was in school, evolution was not taught as truth. It's been only 50 years! I can't imagine how hard it must be for her to understand quantum theory or the concept of an infinity universe born from a single point. That's why I stopped trying to explain it to the her xD. I understood what she feels like. Now I just try to focus on pseudoscience, climate change or vaccines, that I think are important. The point is, our generation is lost, for normal people like most of us. We just have to give a chance to the new generations. Teach them critical thinking with the knowledge of physics, mathematics, etc... Teach them to make their own theories and how to test you models instead of indoctrinate them with books with an easy way out. Make them understand that even if you fail in your theory (nowadays fail is a bad word; I can't imagine how many "failures" Newton had), it's not a problem, because that's how you learn and grow to a better understanding.

Same with reading Spiderman. The sheer amount of times he's stood up to overwhelming odds, the times he's had to lift significant amounts of tons above his normal weight limit to save himself and others, not because a faith in god or supernatural entities pushed him but because it was the right thing to do, because all those people and those actions had great moral values and weight to him and never over blind belief but because of the trust and bonds between and the value of intelligent life, not out of some inherent magical reasons but for moral, epistemological, sound basis that makes him and others legitimately better people overall, regardless of any God's or lack thereof. "With Great Power comes Great Responsibility." And I'd like to finish this off with a couple quotes from Karen Marie Moning & Robert G. Ingersoll respectively. “ _Its our actions that define us. What we choose. What we resist. What we're willing to die for_ .” -Karen M Moning .. "Believers in religion teach us that God will reward men for good actions, but men whom are intellectually free, know that the reward of a good action cannot be given by any power, but that it is the natural result of the good action. The free man guided by intelligence, knows that his reward is in the nature of things, and not in the caprice even of the infinite. He is not a good and faithful servant, He is an intelligent free man." -Robert G Ingersoll. ... Thx for reading and have a good day

@@russellgettons3333 Here's how great prophecies are. These are all failed prophecies. Here you go. Let's just start in the 16th century because the further we go back the more predictions their are of the end of the world. This is how many predictions have failed. These by the way are only the mainstream predictions that everyone was shiting their pants about. 1 Feb 1624London astrologersThe same astrologers who predicted the deluge of 1 February 1524 recalculated the date to 100 years later after their first prophecy failed.[38] [39]1648Sabbatai ZeviUsing the kabbalah proclaimed that the Messiah would come during that year. Premise 2; Did they have access to the Old Testament at the time they wrote the New? (The answer is yes.) Conclusion: Then, is it possible the details regarding Jesus’ life and ministry were embellished by those authors to make them consistent with the claims of the Old Testament? (The answer is yes.) And... BAM! That is why this argument fails, because we have no way of knowing whether the things Jesus supposedly did, according to the New Testament, ever took place.

Carlos's listening skills are equal to the stuff on the bottom of your shoe.

The first time that Eric mentioned a fiction book I thought, 'Mention Harry Potter'. Several minutes later Eric mentions Harry Potter. This must prove that Harry Potter is divine. An epiphany. I believe - I'm saved! Thank you Lord Potter!

i prefer opening 'The handbook of chemistry and physics". It contains a plethora of facts and every few years it gets updated. It is absolutely fascinating to see what we have discovered.

Carlos was disrespectful from the beginning to the end but he was more concerned with swear words? What a hypocrite!

artistjoh the amount of callers they get that just wait for their turn to talk without listening is astounding. One guy admitted he silently prayed when the hosts were talking, then started talking again when they stopped. It was like listening to 2 different conversations. Because the hosts would ask a question and the caller would reply with something completely different.

I can’t even get my sister to have an honest conversation and we are a close family. Religious people are mostly inherently dishonest.

Christy T Yes. Those who talk most about morality tend to be less honest than the rest of us. They actually believe such vacuous nonsense, that in their mind, being dishonest is really being honest.

@Never-ending party Are you ever going to post something correct in ANY comment thread on this video. You are like a reverse prophet in that everything you have said is 180 degrees from reality. You are either very ignorant, or a very terrible troll. You should read a textbook, instead of a bible, to help cure your lack of education.
