At Blashford Lakes just North of Ringwood in Hampshire the rangers have put down Blue painted Corrugated iron sheeting for the local snakes and I found 4 baby adders about 10 cm long basking on them with a Dark Grey colour. But beautiful to see but kept my distance.

Another amazing video. Steve I’ve spent so much time trying to find an expedition you did in a jungle climbing up a cliff face with the worlds best climbers. I believe you camped on the cliff face. I wonder if it depends on the species , or even depending where they live, and that’s why theirs so many different answers on weather the baby’s do dry bite or not ?… I would love to see you maybe talk about some animals that you became more interested in after seeing them in real life? Like were their any that shocked you more then you thought they would ?

Is there any literature comparing venom toxicity in hatchling, juvenile, sub adult and adults? My theory was hatchling and Juveniles could possibly have a higher toxicity due to them possibly feeding on different prey and they prey that they do feed on its more important for them to be successful hunting thus delivering a higher dose of venom? Also how does venom toxicity compare between different localities within the sames species? Would love to hear your thoughts. Big fan. I once saw you at Chester zoo filming was going to ask for a photo but you where on a phone call.

Love this video! It's a question I've been wondering about for a while and sort of tossed and turned between which one made more sense. You make a lot of great points, Steve! And I'm actually glad this didn't end in a definitive answer! We humans love black and white, easily understood facts, but nature just doesn't play by the rules, does it! 😂 Im loving these snake videos, but would you ever be interested in doing something cnidarian related? Maybe about their venom?

That was a great watch Steve, I’d like to ask you what you think about the mirror test for self identification? A lot of scientists dispute the tests premise since it was thought to have been shown in fish! Real head scratcher 🤔

Im sure I read somewhere because of the energy costs involved in deploying their venom the production can vary when the animal is preserving energy whilst digesting food for example or molting.
