The kit itself is based off the design of Ultraman Zero’s “Strong Corona” form, and as far as I know doesn’t exist in the manga universe, it’s just a pallet swap on the zero kit based on that design. I expect we’ll see a blue version of the kit based on the “Luna Miracle” form soon

Also, this form is come from Strong form from Ultraman Dyna and Corona Form from Ultraman Cosmos. The reason for this type of form is that he gains them from the bracelets that allow all 3 of them to combine into Ultraman Saga to fight Hyper Zetton. Compare his base form and Luna Miracle form. This form is battle-oriented, focus on powerful close quarter combat

The ULTRAMAN SUIT ANOTHER UNIVERSE is a photo novel published in Hobby Japan much like Advance of Zeta that was published in Dengeki Hobby. It's a spinoff of the ULTRAMAN manga. That's why it's hard to come across an actual illustration.

The Figure Rise ULTRAMAN kits aren't too bad. But man, their Tokusatsu counterpart kits are actually way better because I own the Figure Rise Standard Zero and it is so underrated because it is an amazing kit in terms of almost everything minus the arms that like to separate itself at times.

My only issue with the Ultraman line of Figurise kits is waist articulation. I can understand it being limited when it has the light installed, but the Action variations of the kits aren't that much better at the waist IMO.

It would be interesting for you to review a sticker hell that is the Figure-Rise Standard Kamen Rider line. I'd suggest Masked Rider Kuuga Mighty Form or Masked Rider Agito Ground Form, not too much stickers.

kinda funny that HERO's manga Ultraman started out about the OG 1966 Ultraman's son who unlike his dad cannot transform into a giant-sized being but just dons an armored suit while he stayed human-sized, then all the other Ultramen who are originally giants got re-imagined as human-sized armor wearing beings because the concept is cool.

The ultraman figure rise series is based on the anime which recently ended, the manga which is ongoing and the Japanese book series 'ultraman suit another universe', which is literally impossible to get at least outside of Japan and is sent in and alternate universe to the manga (btw I highly recommend the manga to anyone)

The reason you werent able to google the original design is because "SC" is actually an abbreviation (or at least I think that's the reason). The original Ultraman Zero's SC form is called "Strong Corona", it's a strength-based red & gold form.

A little late, but the reason why there are no results coming when looking for this specific version was because this did not appear anywhere in art form. This was based on a spinoff photo novel of the Ultraman manga "Ultraman Alternate Universe", and features photos of the kits themselves rather than the hand-drawn artwork. The suit design itself is based on the original Ultraman Zero Strong Corona Form.

Lore wise tl;dr: a race of space giants of light uses their powers to protect and aid the universe against various kaiju and alien criminals, often working alongside humanity. The alternative universe is where the Ultramen are human sized with power suits. There is a HUGE international fandom.

I just checked it with a HG there. The ultraman cannon is narrower than a HG handle so it does fit in the hand loosely. Pack or thicken the handle and it's good to go! Also yes on the articulation, I'll do the full articulation from here on out!

I bought ultraman suit taro off a shelf because it looked just looked that cool, especially with the effect parts, and the motherfucker can't even move his neck or waist. the waist might be to accommodate the light up feature(ridiculous at this scale, but not worth making the most important joint useless). as for the neck there's just no excuse for that; my kamen rider kuuga can pose up a storm, even with his breastplate nullifying about 60% of the joint it houses. I can't believe I'm saying this, but so far my experience with kotobukiya's recent action figure replacements have been better on the whole. If you have a chance, pick up their Megaman .exe. it was a fucking revelation.

I bought the Bandai 7.3 (Fully Armed) on a whim a couple years back (because my local shop bought too many of them). Here are my takes: ‧ The lighting gimmick is nice, but in the 7.3, it drives up the price as well as prevents the design from having any kind of ab crunch-- a feature that I'm usually fine with on a gunpla, but I would expect to see in a powered suit, due to human mobility requirements. Also the light bleeds through the neck, which is somewhat bothersome. ‧ The price of these kits. Wow. They're on par with the Bandai Star Wars markups. You can get a similar (often better) quality gunpla for two-thirds or even half the price. ‧ the 7.3 is a coated kit, which the coating looks great. They undergated all of the coated parts, which 10/10 forethought every time Bandai actually does this. There are a couple places where I could have trimmed better, but skill issue, not design issue. ‧ the 7.3's red parts are HIGH gloss. They look amazing, and take to panel lining VERY well. I used Tamiya brown on the red (don't do that if you don't know exactly what you're doing, brittle plastic, etc), and the liquid just flowed so nicely. I used gundam marker black on the silver coated parts, using the technique to hit it with a tight cotton swab while it's still liquid, and it worked very well, especially on the scaled parts. The sculpted detail on these kits are beautiful. ‧ The 7.3's loadout is amazing. Two katana, two SMGs, and two large launchers. Very cool. I actually only built the katana because I want the other weapons for customs. ‧ The 7.3's poseability is disappointing to say the least, though not completely atrocious. The knees only get a 90 degree bend, but the knee joint itself is this narrow gray piece with hollows-- you'd have to fill it with putty to start to make it believable as a power suit knee, but even then you'd be reaching. (I will say they are much stiffer than the kit you're displaying though.) A lot of the joints have noticeable gaps when posing, making it look like the person in the suit is a quadruple amputee with powered prosthetics almost. For example, the shoulders have a really nice range of motion, but only look good when the arms are down at the kit's sides. Similarly, to get the 7.3 to do the splits, you'll find yourself saying, "A human body doesn't move like that at all." Would I buy another Ultraman kit from Bandai? Aside from the Hulkbuster-looking one I've been mirin', probably not. The price point is too high for the level of engineering put into the kits. I'd rather spend my money on Gunpla, 30 Minute Missions, and the occasional Kamen Rider.
