Why bring up Chelsea as a possible title contender but not villa? They are on the same points or even Brighton who are there as well. Chelsea may have improved against some weaker teams but title challengers I think not.

Chelsea have been playing better than Villa. More goals scored and less goals conceded. Villa have been poor, bailed out by Duran, with UCL football they’ll fall off toward the middle/end of the season. Chelsea have much better depth.

@@evandipasquale9255 No but underlying data is a useful tool for analysis. Take Man Utd last season, they were top 5 for most of the season but they were clearly bad and got lucky, then they fell off at the end because being lucky is unsustainable

I guess from a managerial perspective I get it. No one expected the transition to be this smooth from a big manager and therefore no one expected us to challenge. But from a squad perspective I can never get ppl who say the squad isn’t strong enough to win the league. We’ve got 5 lads still here who’ve won everything, a plethora of top attackers/midfielders and backup in each defensive position!
