As a bicycle courier in London I can confirm from my experience that the Chinese replica of Lezyne Power Drive 1100i, which is named EasyDo EL-1110 last twice longer than the original. And it's four time cheaper.

I've own a Gaciron 1000lm V11 light for a year. This is the best purchase I've made in terms of front light ! The V11 is a cylindrical light without a battery. You need a battery pack but it's small at 2.5" or 6cm long. I bought a 10000 mAh flat phone battery pack that I put in a triathlon type top tube bag. The great thing is, as batteries become more and more energy dense and less expensive, I can "upgrade" and prolong the light autonomy and the battery pack for other use on the bike or elsewhere. The 1000lm is great at any speed. I highly recommend Gaciron products.

You are NOT wasting your time. Finding review for chinese-made light, let alone a thorough one is next to impossible. I need your opinion though. I rode through mostly well-lit paved road with a few poor-lit stretches due to overgrown trees or being simply too wide for the street light. My main concern is to spot potholes and either avoid or brake in time. Do you think 800 lumens is enough for this? I'm tempted by Gaciron's 800 lumens light because the 1800 lumens version is 3 times the price and I have concern about blinding the car in front of me too.

You mentioned the red tail-light may not be as bright in the video as is apparent to your eyes. That's a good call. Some smartphones have color corrections or color schemes or similar settings. The settings can de-emphasize or emphasize certain colors in canned color "schemes" available to the user. Some schemes for example provide a "bright" or "rich" color setting or alternatively a setting that provides a "flat" color rendition. It depends on the phone. Of course, video editors can do the same sort of thing in post-production and affect the apparent results and the user may not know about the settings as some of the editors are very complex with lots of features. Also again, setting like Gamma can make a major difference in apparent color rendition, brightness, contrast, saturation, etc.

Can the recharhable battries be replaced on the towild 1800. I think this is something that should be mentioned on all reviews of any lights. I would not buy a reasonably expensive light without the batterys being able to be changed even that means opening screws. This is part of durability functional longevity, if it is a permenantly sealed unit, it is built in obsolescence and not a practical purchess for long term use.

Thanks for the detailed comparison. Only leaves my with a couple comments: Do any of those headlights use solid handlebar mount with nut tightened clamp? What do you think of the beam's light pattern of the tested headlights? When I've looked a bicycle headlights a circular bean seems common. Next modified beam pattern being a lens to widen the circle. Do you think manufacturers should supply a better pattern, such as one that does not waste light upwards? And a suggestion, if your only using one headlight on the handlebars at bright setting, a hand held in front of part of the beam can protect oncoming vehicles, cyclists or pedestrains, when these occur occasionally.
@ChinaCycling5 жыл бұрын
The handlebar mounts for the bigger lights have a strap that tightens with a pastic nut. You can tighten it down pretty tight so it's not going anywhere. The circular lights beam is pretty omni-directional, but the others are pretty good at aiming most of the light down to the ground.

Another design point I don't understand is why manufacturers don't seem to routinely provide a 10,000mAh LiPo cell on these standalone bike lights? As a result these lights don't shine as bright as they could for as long as they could. They could do so for very nearly the same price-point as these LiPo cell configurations are now fairly common in Powerbank designs and their prices have come down substantially. For example, we can now get a Powerbank with a 10,000mAh LiPo cell for under US$15, and several I've tested actually do provide very nearly that full capacity in the real-world. So, for an added ~$3 BMC per light one could obtain a light with 2x longer lasting light at the same intensity output. A 10,000mAh LiPo cell can be shaped to fit inside the larger lights with no problem and would supply about 2x more usable time than the existing 4000 to 6000mAh Li-Ion lights. I'm also very suspicious of any 6,000mAh claims on these kinds of lights if they're using "standard" 18650 Li-Ion cells (not LiPo cells). EVERY light I've tested that used 18650 cells fails to meet its own specified capacity. For example, a "4,000mAh" often provides less than 3,000mAh (< 75% of claimed capacity) down to Vt=3.0V at load of 1A (less than half the load of a 1,000 Lumen light at 3.7V) so not very harsh test conditions. In my experience, quality Li-Ion or LiPo cells provide 90% or higher of rhe claimed capacity.

It would be a WONDERFUL service if when you list these lights below the video, you include these crucial data so people don't have to go to every light webpage to MAYBE get the information (often not included by seller): 1) Lithium battery type? (this *assumes* Lithium battery is used) ((e.g. 4x 18650; 2x 21700; 2x 26650, "foil" pouch; etc) and if possible the *configuration* (e.g. 1S1P;2S1P; 2S2P; etc) and *claimed* mAh of each cell in the battery) 2) IF POSSIBLE, maximum current and battery pack voltage (depends on configuration) 3) Wide or narrow beam focus LENS? (e.g. spot or "fog" light) 4) What KIND of lens is used? (e.g. simple convex, simple reflector, TIR (Total Internal Reflection)) 5) Is case approx 90 to 100% metal (provides some heatsinking) or mostly plastic (none or minimal heatsinking) 6) CONFIRMED LED type/number and manufacturer (e.g. T6/Nichia; T6/Cree; XM-L2/Samsung; etc) Manufacturer/seller claims of Lumens, Watts, and "runtime hours" are often either wildly inflated or outright lies so actual hard data on battery and LED types and configurations are useful data. I do realize it's a lot of extra work and getting inside some light cases can be very challenging.

The Gaciron 1800 is more legit 1800 lumens because it was far stronger than my Ravemen PR1200. Gaciron 1800 is also warmer tint than Gaciron 1600 one which is more useful for off road. The downsides of Gaciron 1800 is they using blue decoration side visibility lens which kind of ruining tint color. The golden version of limited Gaciron V9D-1800 are better since they still had yellow decoration ring which blend nicely with warmer tint color. Towild BR1800 isn't real 1800, when both flood and throw emitter light up, probably only close to around 1200 lumens in my observation. They take max theoretical lumen output (throw emitter 1100 lumens, flood emitter 700 lumens), hence 1800 as marketing purpose. But in real world isn't close to 1800 lumens. They also had ODM with different brands such as RockBros BR 1200/1800, they identical headlight just with different label. But both of them is still unmatched with superior Ravemen PR1200/1600 build quality and stronger finish. After two years of abuse use my Ravemen PR1200 still looks new, almost resist from cosmetics defects, compared with both of them which I owned around two month, it clearly shown bruise and scratch around their alloy body. Besides of rigid Ravemen quality, they easily serviceable and gaining access to internal are really piece of cake. I do that because after hundreds of charging cycle I found my batteries are starting dud, hence I replace with larger Samsung INR 3500 mAH batteries, resulting 7000mAH in total, albeit no longer calibrated properly with timer display, now it clearly has longer runtime than standard 5200 mAH battery. So for folks looking for quality Chinese light, just go with Ravemen. They made some self conatined western brands such as Cygolite/Serfas really obsolete, after all they still made in China too. Gaciron and Towild are still quality headlight, but they still leave something to be desired.

I "loved" this comment, but a word of caution to those reading this comment. It could be legit from a user, or it could be from an employee of a company. Like everything you see and read on the internet - take it all with a grain of salt and skepticism. 如果你真的是客人thank you for your research. :D

@@ChinaCycling I am not from company or employee. I bought all my headlight with my own money so I have no bias. Actually I had a bunch of Chinese light brands such as SolarStorm, Fenix, Nitecore, just a few names. I haven't have channel myself but I had deep interest with recent Chinese light advancement so I doing this. Would start my own site test in future. Currently I had pitted those light with CatEye offering such as AMPP1100 and Volt1700 and how look it would stack with Japanese giant flagship.

@@山田藍-f4f Awesome! Sorry if I seemed defensive, but I've seen dodgy things going on in KZbin comments before. Thanks for bringing real knowledge here.

@@ChinaCycling No problem mate !! Actually I quite enjoy this video, especially looking that couple expression blazed by gazillion lumen output from your bike lol. Same as yours, I am doing this for science 😂

There's a lot of vids on the PR1200/Pr1600 and the prices are quite cheap. From the manufacturer and in China I just went for the PR1600 as its only $78usd. I can do my exercise in the late evenings now. I was assuming that the all in one build meant that repairs, or battery replacements after 500 charges or so would be impractical. Were the batteries slotted in or soldered?

I bought a Fenix BC35R a little under 2 years ago on AliExpress. It turned out to be junk: it shows all the signs of a depleted battery as the light goes off sometimes only 5 minutes into operation. Once in a while the battery will last an hour (which is still way too short).

Bart Schrijvers how did you like it ? Do you think it’s a true 1800 lumen light ?
@BartSchrijvers5 жыл бұрын
@@cybersurfr22 That's a difficult question, I cannot verify technically if the light is truly 1800 lumen. I can however tell you that it's too bright for any oncoming traffic and I don't often ride with the max. power output for that reason. You don't need more, let me put it like that. The primary selling point is also the longevity of the battery. I don't need to worry about it on a 4h ride and that's priceless.

any of these come with mounting that would fit a one piece 'aero' shape handlebar?
@ChinaCycling5 жыл бұрын
It's going to depend on the bar. The ones with the strap that screws into the mount all had about 30-40% length to spare.

Very nice review! I see some 10k+ lumen lights in various places. Are they not that great? Short battery life etc?

It's gonna need a huge battery which is going to be pretty heavy, and you're just gonna blind anyone else on the road.

Good Day. I have been a loyal Gaciron buyer. I have bought 9 models so far. I only have 1 problem. My most expensive V20D-1700 is malfunctioning/no longer working properly. I am in the Philippines. I have talked to almost every seller and they said there are no service centers for repair. One shop told me they do not repair items that are not from them despite me showing a receipt and actual box. Gaciron should have a repair center for your beautiful lights or atleast provide us manuals on how to open it and do it ourselves. Such a waste of money if I would have to trash this. Thank you.

Great video Brother, you pointed me in the right direction. People like to say "Chinese Junk"😂. I remind them that almost everything they have is made in China, including their expensive name brand stuff.

Unfortunately, showing how "bright" a light is on KZbin is usually pretty meaningless, as most people use a camera with auto-brightness, contrast, gamma, and/or other imaging automatic processing for "best" result. Even a "dim" light can look "bright" because the camera artificially adjusts the image. A "bright" light can also be auto-adjusted to appear to be less bright in a video because it overwhelmed the exposure. Edited to add: This is easily seen in this video when you look at demonstrations of how bright a light is when shined on his hand. I couldn't see any brightness difference between the 1800 Luman and 800 Lumen lights. His hand just looked way over-exposed in multiple images. Although, I did note he mentions he "locked" the exposure for the street-light scenes...however, exposure setting is not the only factor that can affect apparent brightness. Your dark street/street light examples are the best examples I've seen in quite a few bike light comparison videos.

U, Hambini, and Leonard. My top 3 cycling channels. I'm about sick of a few of the other u tube channels. Like, really sick. Good job... And Chinese carbon ftw. On that note. I'm loving my tantan seraph x1... Mostly. Lots of flex in the rear (could be the Ican wheels). I actually burned a hole in my 28mm gp5k tl and ruined it with less than 500 miles on it. 25s are a much better fit... Only the brake pads hit the track... Only the biggest hills and hardest sprints. I'll be building a disc brake etap bike next year. Considering an elves falath. Can you maybe do a closer look at some of the "brands"? Tantan, workswell, elves, etc..
@ChinaCycling5 жыл бұрын
I've never actually ridden a Seraph, seen a few in the flesh, I'll be honest I'm not a big fan. But, they're pretty cheap I guess. I guess I need to ride one to judge properly.
@gadsden4725 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply, as your channel grows, I'm sure it gets harder to do so. I have no real frame of reference for my seraph... Giant defy with Sora and a trek hybrid... I have more than a few KOMs on the seraph... One I took from a current TDF rider. That being said, my lack of experience and ability to compare is a major reason I, for one, would really enjoy and appreciate some looks at the higher quality frames.. Why they are, why the seraph may not be (ie rear triangle flex). Thanks again

The main problem with bicycle lights, is they are not beam shaped, so anyone in your front gets blinded. In cars you get beam shaping so light doesnt go up.
