I started wearing cowboy boots around 45 years ago. I wore Army issued black leather for over 20 years and then the Army issued tan "suede/rough out" combat boots for four years. I believe that having good socks will always help anytime of the year.

I've been wearing leather sole Cowboy Boots in super humid Malaysia for 24 years. Loving it. ❤ I agree that leather sole is best at cooling. Good fit is key. Right socks & foot powder helps.

I live in South Texas and we wear Cowboy boots all the time, and it's 95-105 degrees often. Technically they were made to be worn outdoors in rough conditions, unless they're dress boots. I wear full quill ostrich Luchesse during the summer a lot and they feel cooler than sneakers. Leather sole, leather footbed, and ostrich skin used to make boots is thinner than other leathers, because of how strong it is. Also remember to wear thin/dress socks.

I live in south Florida and I wear my 1552's all year. I purposely wear over the calf socks for diabetics and found that my feet actually feel cool. When I wash my socks I turn them inside out and that helps by keeping my boots and feet smelling like nothing bad. I really think that these types of socks are beneficial for my circulation, keeping my boots fresh and feet dry and odorless.

everyone is suggesting thin socks but I think in China as where I live, temperature was usually above 100 in summer and wearing think socks won’t prevent sweating, what happens is that more sweat is absorbed by the insole, which is not ideal. Thicker socks could prevent your insole getting wet.

Good point though thick socks often make me sweat more in hot weather. Maybe a breathable wool sock would be the best way to go but I've never had a problem with that much sweat on a traditionally made boot. Happy to know folks in China are wearing cowboy boots! Cheers!

My sanders (out of el paso tx)shark skin are amazing traditional made leather outsole insole and lining 12in shafts but a reallly deep scallop that cuts down about 1/3rd the way down they also have a funnel taper at the top so they are wider at the top of the shafts. Very comfortable one of my daily drivers and favorites.

Living in Florida now where Summer temps are consistently in the 90's with high humidity, I'm opting for a shorter shaft boot. I just ordered The Dean by Tecovas. Hopefully this will help. Also, when not moving, the zippers can be pulled down to let help the inside of the boot cool down a bit.🤞🤞🤞

The only time I remember that leather boot where suffocating is when I went hiking in like 38C and high humidity.. I live in a place where temperature reaches 50C normally and with dry hot it's not that bad to wear boots but with humidity I felt awful.. I had to get my feet in a water stream

My ariat Patriots are black leather cloth lined rubber soled foam insole. They are warm even in the winter. My brown dan post boots are leather lined with leather sole and insole. The brown ones are cooler but they need to be fixed cause the bottom is falling off. Plus i enjoy the square to of my ariat more than the pointed toe danpost

Great topic to bring up. Thanks for sharing! Excellent job with this video JC. How much effect do you think sole savers are on an all leather boot. Just got a pair of Black Jack caiman belly boots and had BJ install the sole savers during the build. They help a lot with slippage on certain surfaces, etc. but I can tell they are on there. Less flexibility and probably do not breath as well.

Boots l find are cooler than sneakers always! The plastics or even mesh tend to be warmer or even hot in the summer. I do agree shorter shafts in summer are better. But if the leather is breathable you can wear taller boots at night also. 😁

My body runs extremely warm, as in summer sleeping bags in late fall warm, and I wear boots year round. Always have. Just today I went into my favorite surplus gear store and they had a pair of mint Durango harness boots on the floor for $60 CAD size 8ee. No way they would fit my 8.5 foot right? Wrong I was! I walked out the door with them for $50 CAD and now my Russian and Finnish jackboots have my first pair of almost cowboy boots in over twenty years for company! So far they have taken two coats of neatsfoot oil but they weren't really very dry.

I was gonna say that it's never too warm to wear boots but let me tell you last Thursday thru Saturday it was between 103-106F in El Paso and it was too freakin hot to wear clothes period. But I didn't care I still wore them to go out to the store but once I got home I stripped down to my boxers and turned on the AC and cracked open a cold one with a bad a$$ boot bottle opener lol

I live in tricities tn and we during warm months have like 80-100° with 90-100% humidity on average but realistic when it rains and we get alot of rain the humidity feels like its giving that 110%

completely agree. for me my legs don't really get hot in comparison to my torso so wearing boots doesn't effect them much, except for my Justin work boots i used to wear. They are very similar to your camo Justin boots. very warm. my new noconas are very light and cool.

Socks can also make a difference. Thinner cotton socks and avoid sport socks and forget woollen sock altogether.

Merino wool dress socks. Yes Wool. Wool has 2 layers of fibers. Wool wicks sweat into the inner layer and outer layer stays dry. I wear wool socks year round. also consider tall socks, over the calf helpful.

I have been wearing wool Socks for the last decade, I love them. Thin wool socks during the summer, a little heavier in the winter. I wear wool socks for everything. If I wear jeans/pants I’ll wear boots. Generally ostrich skin ropers. I love them.

I've been wearing cowboy boots for over 50 years. Various makers but Justin's for the most part. Got my first pair for Christmas in South Dakota when I was 11. Lived in Houston, TX for 15 years then NW Louisiana. Summer or winter, rain or shine I wore my cowboy boots. Living in South Dakota I rarely wore them during their harsh winters. In NW Louisiana I wear them everyday. My daily wear are a pair of Justin's and my special occasion boots Lucchese 1883 Mad Dog Goat. Got married in a pair of Justin's. Weddings, funerals, job interviews, etc. I've always worn my boots. Take care of them and they will last a very long time. I just got rid of a pair of Justin boots I'd worn for the better part of 30 years. New soles and heels until they just wouldn't take it anymore.

If ya have a problem with heat in boots get some traditionally built (full leather construction) fish skin boots and you'll be fine. Could also get a shorter shaft. Hit the nail on the head

I really find no difference from leather or rubber soles, it feels fine either way. The only noticeable boot is my Ariat with the mesh lining, now that is warm in the summer but I use that one most for winter. I usually don't wear shorts unless I am swimming or at home. I'm a firm believer that a grown man should not wear shorts unless he is swimming, playing a sport or at home, never out in the public. That's just me though I could care less what others do.

I wear English made Beatle boots. Cowboy boots are to pumped up and bulky for me Whereas a Beatle boot is form fitted streamline with a very thin dress shoe sole which is Blake stitched and the boot zipped on and I rear the models that were worn back in the 50s with the tall shaft that stops below the knee which means I can sit down with a pair of high water pants on, and you will not see the top of my boots no matter what position I choose to sit in it, including on the floor, cross legged and the shaft contours with the shape of my leg. none of this stove pipe, business .

I've got a pair of light brown Nocona's coming in. Full leather lined, hard leather insole and leather outsole. I can't heckin' wait for them to get here xD And hot is hot no matter which way you put it so sometimes you've just gotta deal with the heat And a little thing I've found about leather outsoles is once they get cold they stay cold for a long time even if you're wearing them. I had this problem with wearing my leather soled boots this past winter. And I bet if they got hot they'd stay hot for a long time as well. So walking around on hot asphalt during the summer probably isn't good lol

Clothes. Short zip boots will work well with slim or skinny jeans. Taller boots you might want a straight leg or bootcut

The whole rough out/ suede one is kind of a myth. It is no warmer than a full grain smooth leather boot. The example you give is even flawed. You admitted that a taller boot will run warmer. Yet you use that same boot as a justification that rough out boots are warmer. Hell, suede is technically even thinner than full grain leather.
