True, but same could be said for any investments. It’s why he mentioned Apple, since they skyrocketed throughout the lifetime of the company. Main thing is that they actually do *increase* in value. Things like NFTs just fizzle up and die out in a matter of days.

I do recollect that the Titan holos and IBuyPower holos were around $10-$15 back then. Literally half of what the steam market says, the SCM for some reason doesn't correctly record the exact average prices of items, especially from way back then. I remember buying and selling them for $10-$13 very clearly though.

i like to stay on top of my alpha, these days i invest in csgo and rust skins a little bit on the side of crypto lol. all equities are speculative in nature. when you invest you lock liquidity for that time horizon. this ain't degen flipping we talking about. if you held a butterfly knife for 3 years you probably tripled your money lately. i sold mine early sadly. but there is money to be made, i treat it like money for games and more skins. no cashing out or using external platforms.

Only a handful of skins has been a good investment, operation skins and the howl are the only few I can think of on top of my head. Cases though, those are going mass unboxed to near extinction, operation breakout cases were 3 cents for years and now they're 4 bucks each. CSGO entering china has made everything blow up in price for some reason

Exactly. You can actually pick some good skins to invest in, but is is extremely hard and doesn't worth the effort, since you can just check the most frequently opened cases and buy some of the most opened ones. Easy investment, even on relativily short terms (5-6 months)

I don't really agree to be honest, I think the vast majority of skins sell more now than they did even just 5 years ago. As long as the case is now undroppable, the skins inside slowly gain value

@@Kruxien You have a point, but look at the increase in price of skins and their cases. While skins went up like +50%, cases went 100-150% at the same time. And some skin won't go up a lot in price, so it is a wiser decision to invest in cases. I used to invest is skins, but I had to realize my own mistake.

Skins are not for investing. It’s theoretically possible, but at the end of the day the majority of skins are just bought by people who know nothing about the complexities of patterns, wear values, etc… and just buy them to play with cool looking guns, making it harder to predict the market and overall making investing a more unpleasant experience.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying but my conclusion is actually the opposite. All people investing in stock market just want to make money, making you fight against other people with the same goal in mind. You have to be smarter than the average to make money. For the skin market like you said, most people just buy skins bc they look cool and not to make money, I think it makes things a lot more predictable for people actually investing in the skin market.
