U are right on true about sharpening the blade of the plane .. its a skill itself .

Oh man... I've been trying to master it for a while. Mine is pretty sharp but still not how I would like it.

Great video! My electric hand plane is a lifesaver when hanging doors. I also completely agree that it is better to think of the electric hand plane and manual hand plane as completely different tools instead of one just an electric version of the other.

Absolutely! Thanks for watching and for the comment.

They are pretty nice. I really don't use it enough. Part of the reason I made this video was to learn more about it and get better at using it.

I use them for flattening slabs. You can plane is any direction and its faster than using a router sled 👍
@HowIDoThingsDIY9 ай бұрын
I've done that with glue ups as well. Thanks for the comment!

ahaha even though I find jokes are not good, I admire the effort you put. And all the information you give are so good that we can not find some of them in other channels. Thank you for making very clear and necessary information video :)

Haha. Their dad jokes. I'm not even sure they are supposed to be funny. I'm just a goofball. I can't pretend I'm not. I do a ton of research when I make my videos to try to get as much, accurate info in them as possible. Thanks for the comment.

I have used both hand planer and electric planer. Until my hand planer blade was sharp enough, it was fun using it and listening the buttery wood chirping sounds that hand planer make... 😊 But the electric planer would make loud noise and my mom would yell😂😂😂 At last i concluded hand wood planers are best to use at home..
@HowIDoThingsDIY6 ай бұрын
Hahaha. Definitely, in that case.

I would like to see someone make a comparison between those router sleds and a planer sled Compare results Compare efficiency And even Compare whatever differences in technique is needed to gain best results For me, the first time I saw the router sled, I was wondering why the person did not use an electric hand planer. Maybe there was a good reason I am unaware of

Can this electric planer do the job of a hardwood floor sander?
@HowIDoThingsDIY Жыл бұрын
No. This is much too small and can remove material very quickly. You definitely want to rent a floor sander for that.

Thinking about this channel… I have 2 major issues. 1) You haven’t made enough videos yet. Actually you unlikely to ever get there. 2) You haven’t set up a patreon page. Please correct these issues asap so I can provide my best support for your channel.
@HowIDoThingsDIY2 жыл бұрын
Hahaha. I'll work on fixing those. You actually can become a member of my channel through KZbin if you want to show your support. I love hearing this. My subscribers motivate me and keep me going. Already working on my next script. You can become a supporter with this link: kzbin.info/door/boCCtnsCslt0ZT9W47thcAjoin

Good video but it is not an "either-or" situation. If one has lots of real rough lumber to prepare the electric is a great tool then followed up by hand for the final touch.
@HowIDoThingsDIY Жыл бұрын
I agree. I just felt like this was a fun way to sort of discuss the differences. Thanks for the comment.

my problem with the hand planers is that there is nothing out of the box ready to use. you have to tune em and cost for getting the material to tune them is high.

Ya, they definitely need some tweaking. Thanks for the comment!
