It's interesting about Vettel and Verstappen, I heard somebbody say a couple months back that Vettel is quite easy to read in his interviews, there are a couple simple things you understand, there is one driver that Vettel truely respects on the grid and that's Hamilton, and there is one driver that he truely fears and that's Verstappen. And then everytime there is an issue I get reminded of it and just how true it is.

E3, I would agree however some of their tussles in the 2014 season (Silverstone being the one that sticks in my mind most) Alonso and Vettel were treating each other and reacting in much the same way that Vettel and Verstappen were last season at Silverstone, which points in the direction of what the guys on this video we're saying that Alonso treats Vettel in the way that Vettel treats Verstappen and vice versa. Also Adrian, Yeeeeeaaaaaaah!!! Couldn't remember where it was from, having said that I think it was there post race analysis after Singapore last season, but can't be certain
@Merlin53426 жыл бұрын
The thing that is wrong about F1 at the moment is, that Verstappen just don't let space for the car that is inside, and almost all experts just saying about that, that Vettel should expect, that Verstappen will close the door, so it is his fault, he does even try. I somehow would say, Verstappen miscalculated his ERS, so he even should expect a attack. Saying, that is not a place for overtakes is just a bit to easy. Also saying he could wait is just shit, he is a racedriver and you don't win anything with waiting for the car in front taking its panelty. And letting space for a car inside, and it was half car length in that corner, so it clearly was inside, is needed for good racing, and Verstappen really did not. You can't take the racing line, if there is a car inside. With that argumantation you almost could say to all drivers, you are only allowed to overtake on the straight or in on or two explicit corners. and if you can't do it there, you are not allowed to overtake... I still would say, Verstappen could be a good driver, but because of all around saying, that he does good with that unfair driving, he will not get to that point anyway. Also Vettel fucked up a lot this season, but really not there. And really, why Verstappen can do what he do without anyone saying, that he really is to agressive in fighting!!?!?!? Without changing it even would not help him to have the best car, he would not win anything with driving like that.

The stewards were right on Magnussen. Looking at the footage slowly, one can see that Charles and Kevin made a decision to move to the right at the same time (within a frame, I think Charlie Whiting said). Magnussen didn't block Leclerc or react to Leclerc's move, he just went on the defensive line, and there isn't anything wrong with that.

WRT Charles-Kmag Incident: Read the statement from Charlie (Something along theese lines): Charles were catching, catching, catching, then goes to the right. 1Frame after, K-Mag also goes to the right. So they basicly decided to turn at the same point in time. Assuming its 25fps camera they use, thats 0.04seconds. Or half of that if its 50hz camera. Or somewhere inbetween if its Murican' stype camera. Either way, its much less then human reaction time. (~0.2sec)

Magnussen's move was okay. You know why? Leclerc could get out of the slipstream earlier. Leclerc was closing in too much and should have gone inside earlier. So who's fault is it? Nobodies. It's racing. Leclerc closed in too much and Magnussen defended late. It's racing with both drivers taking too much risk.
@legodane976 жыл бұрын
Not only that, but Magnussen only exercised his right to one directional change, yes he left it quite late, but his move wasn't illegal. And as you said Leclerc could and should have pulled out of the slipstream earlier. He was less then a cars length behind Magnussen when he decided to move over. Magnussen left it to late which was stupid, but it was a pure racing incident. Quite frankly I was actually quite annoyed with Matt in his race review, when he said Magnussen didn't deserve a seat for next year. Clearly a the person who is seventh in the championship and hence best of the rest, doesn't deserve a seat. Also Magnussen has 3 penalty points, Hartley and Gasly have 4, Verstappen has 8. I hope Matt reads this, because his "opinion" on the matter was most definelty coloured by his preference of Leclerc, and nowhere near good journalism.

In China Verstappen was making the same mistake as Vettel in Japan. Why was he getting a 10 sec penalty?? Alonso was getting a penalty for cutting the chicane (by getting pushed of the track) and Verstappen was getting a penalty for not trying to cut the chicane? I mean i really really dont understand it anymore.
@velocitaaa6 жыл бұрын
Completely different incidents. Alonso did get pushed off but went straight over the grass to rejoin the track and gain an advantage. He should have just used the old chicane layout and rejoined safely. Verstappen got a penalty because he still pushed Kimi completely off the track and didn't leave any room.
@aidankeogh53506 жыл бұрын
Alonso emerged 2 seconds in front of Stroll. He did gain significant advantage from cutting the chicane, though he was pushed off. Vettel was at least alongside in the breaking zone, Max torpedoed him in China. Verstappen should have cut properly using the escape road, not swerve onto the grass. The escape road is there for that purpose.

Personally, I believe the 'play on' view of the stewards towards the Vettel and Vestappen incident was correct in the sense that it was in fact consistent. Hear me out, so thinking back to China when Vestappen got a 10 second penalty from spinning Vettel, Critically Vestappen gained the position on Vettel and Vettel's race was ruined because of the incident. In the case of Japan, Vestappens race was not ruined and Vettel ended off the worse. I may not think the decision of the stewards was exactly correct but in terms of consistency they actually made the right call.

True.. but giving max 10 seconds on 2 penalty points in china and vettel 0/0 in japan.. comparing these two doesnt add up.. you can go overkill on the one and completely look the other way on the other.. there should be balance.. YES max's mistake in China was worse.. there for a 10 against 5 second penalty would be fair.. or a 5 against 0 penalty.. now its just insconsistant en more importantly unbalanced.. In this case the decision isnt the issue.. the decision COMPARED TO other decisions is..

@Kim Yeah that's true, but that was back in the late 90's/early00's, the difference in the cars now is so big wit regard to physical stresses, mental stresses and involvement with wheel controls etc. that no real comparison can be drawn. The same could be said of driver stewards such as Mika Salo and Martin Donnelley who were very much in F1 but so long ago it's without real relevance. That's just my view on it. @Pawel, we'll be back soon mate, dont worry.

Idea: continuous engagement is a key aspect of keeping viewers in tune and involved with your channel. I suggest splitting the podcast into 2 episodes per week. 1 on Tuesday as a recap and analysis of the previous race, and another on Thursday to preview and give expectations of the coming race. Videos would be a little shorter (Ali won’t mind that 😉) and then as a consumer, I get to break up the podcast and enjoy it multiple days a week. Perspectives is the important part to remember, rather than my opinion is fact. Stewards have data , we have a replay while the race is underway, we are emotionally involved too. At Monza Stewards for a large majority got it right, but now not so much. On the MAgnussen / Leclerc incident even if evidence says 1 video frame between movements and no physic powers in evidence how does that happen , rather than a racing incident? Vettel (for me being optimistic) and in hindsight, and cooler thinking, get the angle of attack right through spoon challenge for chicane would seem better chance, Vettel knew Max was not going to make that easy either, he wants to win WC , he has to appraise, in that moment, not saying his racecraft is fine, I think he has shown over the years with Webber etc, a car competitive he normally ends up being the one who makes a hash of it , again my perspective, yet a gap and energy clipping, go for it? or not? I think stewards got that right too. Even though every online race around Suzuka in Iracing etc a move that late always ends in tears for one or both. Tough job, so many armchair judges the stewards have, what would help, after race like Mercedes do mid week a race analysis and penalty decision video with Charlie Whiting to educate us all.

In some Italian media, the reason for Ferrari's bad form is given: since Singapore, their battery advantage is gone, probably due to the extra sensor placed by the FIA. The fact that Ferrari has however not found a solution yet, lays deeper. Since the passing away of Marchionne, there is a rivalry between Arrivabene and Mattia Binotto (the Chief Technical Officer) about who is now the "real leader" of the team. When Marchionne was still CEO, he was the boss and both had to listen to him.

It shouldn't matter whether the championship is at stake (except for extreme incidents a la Schumacher '97). It shouldn't matter whether the other driver suffered. If you make a dangerous move and come off worse, the FIA shouldn't just say "he's had enough punishment - let him off".

While I am no Vettel fan.... Ferrari has a lot of blame on their shoulders for the collapse of Sebastian’s championships. The did the same thing to Alonso two years in a row.

Daniel Small Yes Ferrari has fucked up, but vettel is also just as much to blame as Ferrari, he’s been making stupid mistakes all season costing himself points, the dive on max this weekend is just another example of the pressure getting to him. He simply isn’t on Lewis level and he never will be.
