Really love the pod! Not to sound like a Hamilton fan boy but it would have been nice to take a few minutes just to congratulate what he’s done this year. He’s only the third driver to win 5 or more world titles and he beat Vettel for the second season running. Yes Vettel has made mistakes but Hamilton has had to capitalise on those mistakes. However, still love the podcast and will be tuning in for the rest of the season.

I like the tires as they are this year. It’s fun to have all the different compounds and k ow which is which by looking at the cars or graphics. Going back to “soft, medium and hard” is only gonna make it more boring, at least to me. And it doesn’t take that long to learn the compounds for new viewers.

You can get snow in a desert. A desert is defined by the amount of precipitation an area receives. For example parts of Antarctica are considered deserts but do experience snow occasionally. This snow would then not melt due to the temperature being below waters melting point. Therefore the original metaphor was the superior one 😏

Name the tire compounds according to a number rating system. 1=hyper, 2=ultra, 3=super, 4=soft, 5=medium, 6=hard, and eliminate the super hard. Make the color code so that numbers and colors become associated with each compound. This would make it easy to identify a compound on a moving car by its color, and easy to talk about by number. Intermediates and wets should be the same color but inters only have one colored band around the side wall and wets with two, again for ease of identification on a moving car.

Its not about high degradation or low degradation. Its about quality and predictability of tyres which allow drivers to push to the maximum. Banning the fuel flow restriction would help too. Ever since Pirelli imposed tyre pressure and camber limits on their tyres after Silverstone 2013, the tyres have become way too hard and unpredictable to drive on. Pirelli also lack confidence in their product. We need a tyre war to push the limits of the tyres and just allow the drivers to race unhindered by the limitations of the tyre. Thats how you get races like Austin.

Regarding tyres (and especially Mercedes), I think there is an easy way to save an extra tyre set for the race for the top 3 teams: Don't go out on the softest tyre in Q2 after having set your time. It never seems to be necessary, is a complete waste of a fresh tyre set and if every now and then it would backfire (which I think would hardly ever happen), they're fast enough to make it back to the front within a few laps anyway.

There’s been a lot discussion about making the races better, last week with the “no practice” debate and now about having fast degrading tyres, but I think people have to remember that F1 is supposed to be about teams and drivers racing to be the best. And you won’t find out who is the best if there are so many variables. I think that practice should remain and there shouldn’t be faster degrading practice. People nowadays are solely focused on making F1 entertaining which is sometimes good but, a lot of people are forgetting what F1 is about.

Baylisted f1 is about pushing the engineering and technology to its limits but at the same time reigning in when there's an unfair advantage, for the mid pack to get better they have to invest more money but that's solely dependent on where you finish in points, so we are chasing our tail, the best team s earn the most money so they can invest more into their cars, f1 will always be this way until they reign in the costs

A lot of teams did not struggle with tyre wear, Mercedes did and it's Mercedes' fault for not setting their car up to be kinder on its tyres. As was the point of controversy on the lower tread tyres for Spain,Austria and Silverstone before any kind of data proving that most teams agreed with the tweaking, a team struggling with something the rest can handle is not a reason to change the regulations.

How about switching qualy to friday with only one practice session prior, and saturday can be used for race pace practice. It will still shake up the order, and race more exciting.
@Erudite450
@Erudite450 6 жыл бұрын
Very bad idea! That would make things worse! One of the most important issues teams face is balancing the low fuel single lap speed with race pace because of the parc ferme rule immediately they role out of the garage for qualy. Some teams are kinder on their tyres in the race but can't switch them on easily in qualy while others can generate the necessary tyre temperature for a single lap but struggle in the longer runs. If they did what you just said, the fastest team on Saturday would easily be the fastest team on Sunday because they don't need to make any qualy-race setup compromises.
@horaizui8897
@horaizui8897 6 жыл бұрын
@@Erudite450 that's still mean the fastest will win, so no problem. But with qualy already done, grid order might be jumbled and u get overtakes on Sunday, imo.
@Erudite450
@Erudite450 6 жыл бұрын
@@horaizui8897 They only need a single session to perfect the setup for qualy so we would still get the fastest cars at the sharp end while also having the chance to perfect their race pace on Saturday without having to compromise their single-lap speed.

I am hoping for Seb to win the championship next year so we can see if Lewis will be as happy for Seb as Seb was for Lewis (this year and last year) He is very respectful towards Lewis on the races where he locks the championship up. I feel like Lewis would not react that way.

Jeroen Bons Yes Hamilton drove sensible. Now I noticed something remarkable on F1. I don't know if you did watch "LIVE at the Mexican Grand Prix" where they show the drivers parade. This time it was colorful, loud, happy and vibrant but....well let me resume The Parade in those beautiful vintage cars. The video reserved a lot of time for: 1. Checco Perez, (he's Mexican) DNF, 2. Fernando A. (he speaks Spanish) DNF, 3. Daniel R. (pole sitter) DNF, 4. Romain G.? (finished ??last), 5, Lewis Ham. (won the title already weeks ago) and last but not least the man that did feature only 0,026th of a second in this video..well actually not at all.. Max Verstappen (2nd time race winner in Mexico). On top af all that - after the race Hamilton stole the show from the race winner with his obligatory donut and pumping up the public - like he did last year. And he was not on the podium - like he was not last year. Yes you guessed right I'm Dutch (Amsterdam).

If you actually watch F1, you would know that when a driver is dominating a race he/she tends to get less screen time - Barcelona (Hamilton), Montreal (Vettel), Paul Ricard (Hamilton) to name a few.

Mr. Mers. Miss.? Erudite450 > Yes, 'during the race' and that is normal because the camera goes where the action is. But I was talking about the "drivers parade". Max was sitting in a tiny red MG if I am not mistaken and it stroke me as odd that this 'last years winner' and a possible 'this years winner' was not picked up by the camera. You can watch the Mexican drivers parade 2018 on you tube: F1: LIVE at the Mexican Grand Prix 338.647 weergaven 4K 190 SHARE STORE FORMULA 1 Live gestreamd op 28 okt. 2018 GEABONNEERD 1,7 MLN.
