Big love from England.
@GilBatesLovesyou3 жыл бұрын
I think from a bodybuilding perspective, what ends up hitting things better and worse and what exercises you should do actually has a lot to do with your body proportions and limb length. I have really long arms so when I bench I feel pretty little in my chest, and it mainly hits the triceps, and a wider grip hurts my shoulders, so I've always had the best feeling and results from pullovers and flyes vs benching. DB bench though hits the pecs way more for me, I guess due to the need for more stabilizers to work. Same with squats, normal back squats barely hit my quads, because I have long femurs, so the best combination for me is front squats + leg press and/or extensions. Sorry if my comments are weird, when I was younger I spent a lot more time with Olympic lifting and powerlifting, and only gradually got into bodybuilding by just gradually adding accessory stuff over time. I really like Jay's training ideas because I found out personally I actually respond better to really high volume like Jay tends to advocate, even for gaining strength, too. Oddly speaking of machines I find the best rear delt exercise is the pec dec in reverse, with pauses and isometric holds, it's the best for me. Doing it with free weights or bands just doesn't hit the rear delts as hard. :/

I grew into weight-lifting and building with free weights. Always worked well. Then when I got a gym membership, the machines definitely help out a lot, especially where certain focus on specific muscle was concerned. But all in all, the free weights have always had a consistent and reliably impactful effect, no doubt.

It’s so good to be able to get info from a true legend of the sport! Thank you Jay and Dave! To answer the question, I think both serve a purpose. Due to if someone is or has an injury this can still allow them to continue to workout with possible limited pain or discomfort. But for me I would have to choose free weights.

Mr Cutler.......I never write anything down. I guess you won't read it but now for once I want you to know for years you motivate me. This is my story. I was a good amature, until a car accident stopped everything. Paralized on the left my doctor told me I would never be able to train again. Now at 52........after multiple surgeries I am back in training since Mai this year. Back on diet....loving it to see muscle memorie and how I am able to build up my body again. Getting trough the pain of my back and neck. I drove in an other car with 60 miles an hour. He did not see me. The package of muscles I had more or less saved my live. In kilo's I was off season 130 kilo.......with 6.5 foot. So I keep watching your channel. Get motivated by it........and try to gain as much as I can. So thanks for your motivation.
