The "Spirit world" with angels and demons is not just a Christian belief. Hindus have known this for years. In fact, Hindu meditation experts have advised of being careful of demonic spirits when you open your third eye in meditation. This is essentially what Steve-O experienced. Opening your third eye is pretty much the purpose of psychedelics.

Have you looked into the Internal Family Systems model? That’s what this video reminded me of where the concept of “one me” is described as “center self,” which is made up of different “parts.” Each part can be described as having a distinct personality, but all the parts together are collectively “center self.” Each part has one of three roles, defined as manager, firefighter, and exile. This model is fascinating to me, and I think it goes well with your thoughts. Thank you for your videos!

Coincidentally I started doing some IFS therapy shortly after getting typed by Dave and Shannon, and while I was doing one of the forms of therapy (where you take on the roles of your different types and allow them to be heard/argue with each other) it did occur to me that when I was switching what I was doing was going back and forth from my top 2 functions (FF Ne/Ti - Firefighter) to my bottom 2 (MM Fe/Si - Manager) and vice versa.

Wow Steve-o had the same mindset that you were advocating for in the other video you mentioned him in. Anyways that last bit you said reminded me of the Sic Blind Men and the Elephant which is a story of a group of blind men who have never come across an elephant before and who learn and imagine what the elephant is like by touching it, but they never get the whole picture and argue about what it really is based on what they can feel, the tusk is a spear, the tail is a rope etc. we're just doing that all day but with our own mind lol.

Exactly. Exactly. The thing is I’m not sure all of those separate “you’s” are actually separate. They are all you. And when you talk about congruency, that’s the thread that runs through all those “you’s”. But I love you talking about them as separate, because I think that can give someone the path to learn to accept the other parts of themselves and start to be curious about them. It removes the ego. It creates acceptance. And it makes the path forward to more consciousness over those transitions into those other parts more clear, so you can learn about them and then chose to respond, choose to make new, healthier programming.

The goal (according to Jung) is to integrate all of the different parts and versions of yourself. If you are seeing them as separate from yourself, then they are not truly integrated and you still have growth to do. This is why I don't like the 8 function models and function archetypes. If you are still seeing your saviors as "saviors" and demons as "demons" then they are not integrated.
@JPizzDizz08
@JPizzDizz08 11 ай бұрын
Agreed. I think the savior vs demon terms are mostly for semantic use to allow us to see the functions we can't otherwise see and to be able to integrate them.

Am I missing something? Do most of the 8 function models/systems actually apply “savior” and “demon” terms fairly literally in this context? I’ve genuinely never heard anyone describe them as separate from themselves or in this manner until now.
@Binyamin.Tsadik
@Binyamin.Tsadik 11 ай бұрын
@@quincyfreeman2901The archetypes, "Hero", "Parent", "Child"... etc. Are all designed to personify functions as archetypes so you can see them as separate from yourself. If you lock them into those archetypes then you are essentially stopping yourself from growth. The first step might be identifying them, but the final step is accepting them for what they are and integrating them into your self-perception. Same thing with "blaming" functions. A lot of people in the community will resort to blaming functions rather than taking responsibility for those functions and viewing them as self. It's an intermediary step before integration.
@quincyfreeman2901
@quincyfreeman2901 11 ай бұрын
@@Binyamin.Tsadik interesting - thanks for the follow-up! I actually fully agree with your point regarding integration here, I just haven’t come across many (if any) people over the last decade+ that actually utilize/view the system in this way. I’ve always seen people use the archetypes as ways to describe competency (more or less) in a function, and how we naturally prioritize them in processing. However, I have seen some similar by-products. The difference is that they aren’t viewing these archetypes as separate from themselves, but as excuses to justify behaviors and essentially discourage growth. This I see a lot. “I can’t be exacted to do A well, because B is my child function”. “My demon Fe causes that.” However, I’ll have to keep an eye out for this “disintegration” approach, in case I’ve just glossed over it or if it is more prevalent in some circles I’m not regularly in. Cheers

The dream thing is so interesting to me because of what elements seem common for some people and totally absent for others. Almost all of the dreams I can remember are a very solitary exploration of some kind of landscape; sometimes literally, sometimes more metaphorically, there might be confusing social aspects as well. Often times there's a feeling of being threatened or intimidated by people and avoiding them. I don't think I've ever had a dream like the one Dave was talking about
@moneyvsfinance

I have premonitory dreams. One made me realize my sister was pregnant. One made me realize my friend was having a girl. One made me realize I should triple down on an investment. I've also had dreams that mimicked a relationship life situation, but were more real than real life. I wound up confused, and acted on the dream. In a round about way it helped me out big time A few days after cutting fluoride out of my diet they started to get really vivid. Fluoride calcifies the pineal gland, which produces DMT when you sleep

Perhaps you’re right on all accounts, but I have a very hard time believing the validity of the claims here. Perhaps fluoride does have an impact on this manner, but the magnitude of its individual contribution described is hard to believe, at least without some additional info. Anyone saying that a minor ingredient consumption change drastically improved sleep and cognition makes me think you aren’t seeing enough of the equation. I’ve lived long enough to know that it is genuinely almost NEVER due to just one change. It’s kind of like when someone attributes their 1 month weight loss purely to “eating healthy foods, cutting out bad ones”, when in reality, their average daily caloric intake also dropped by 200+ calories, they’ve started being more rhythmic with daily habits/activities and are now sleeping better, and they have become a bit more active, or have more energy for the same workouts, ultimately burning more calories throughout the day.

@@quincyfreeman2901 A good starting point to see the negative cognitive affects of fluoride would be an article titled "7 Neurotoxicity and Neurobehavioral effects | Fluoride in Drinking Water: A Scientific Review of EPA's Standards. Who knows, I could have changed something else in my lifestyle I didn't notice, but right after I consciously cut out fluoride I noticed major changes in sleep, and significant changes in cognition

I’ve noticed that high doses of weed (feel really high, too high to DO anything) increase Oi (but maybe not in everyone?). It gave me glimpses into a deeper level of experiencing Si; Si isn’t just organizing your stuff (that’s a superficial level, or Si applied to tasks). One common feature was that time flowed differently - went slower, sometimes seemed to briefly stop. So, if a second is now stretched out, many of the sensory details that happen in that second (which usually get merged together) get spread apart, and can be examined/appreciated individually. Think of a regular speed movie, then the same film in slow motion. Maybe related to the stretched out time: Noticed all the nuances of color in one leaf, could stare a long time at one petal due to fascination with the rich sensory. The sensory seemed more “concentrated”. And much more awareness of the sensory impacting the body and within the body. For example, I’d heard about chakras and meridians (used in acupuncture) but only actually FELT these as real sensations in the body when high. I could feel warm pulses of energy surging into my perineum area (where the root chakra is), then separating to stream upwards. My female cat was beside me and I could feel what’s best described as a “wormhole” connecting me with kitty, and energies moving between her body and mine. For auditory: We all feel a body vibration when bass is playing loudly. But, while ultra high, I could feel EVERY sound (any pitch, any volume) physically impacting my skin. And much of this was experiencing the sensory without any interference from the need to label, interpret, attribute meaning: The yellow of the flower as a universe unto itself, something to merge with intimately (rather than distance oneself from, thru naming and explaining). And I wondered if there are people who experience physical reality like this normally, when not high. Maybe a spectrum of sensitivities, maybe even a spectrum in how we experience time. Maybe each Observer function is a gateway into certain kinds of perception: Sometimes the gates are large an thus allow a torrent of data to flood in, sometimes the gates may be mere cracks and thus allow in only a trickle of data…..and maybe the drug temporarily enlarges certain gateways.

Sometimes my dreams have a coherent narrative and memory timeline, and when i wake up abruptly i can still hold on to that memory but in seconds the memories stop making sense and i start to feel they never happened and literally a moment later the memory itself disappears and I cant even remember the thing that happened in my dream that i was thinking about just 2 seconds ago. It is so fascinating how capable our brains are at creating narratives and switching them and playing around with them.

The "Collective Unconscious" and Archetypes. It is why Myth exists. Patterns in the universe and in our mental imagery that we then find in reality and find in our math. Are we finding the patterns in reality, or are we creating reality? In the end, all we can truly say is that the spiritual and physical world are both real, and exist together and at the same time, and it is never good to go too far into one while ignoring the other. You must see both as true and live in such a manner.

Well... obviously... you are the sum of all your brain has collected and processed and come up with, including the work in progress. The different voices in your head are sides or versions of you which, with enough will and practice, you can embrace and choose to be, even if temporarily when your "main" self can't handle something. I never needed drugs for that, just grew up with an alternative universe and characters in my head.

I have witnessed things that people like to call “Ghosts “, I don’t particularly like them or feel the need to communicate to them. The things I have seen are more easily explained as residual life energy that for whatever reason has caused a glitch in the system and can replay an event over and over and over. What is a demon or ghost, does anyone actually know, I believe that anything imaginable is possible, we create our own barriers and limitations not nature, many years ago friends and I had a seance to contact a recently departed friend and whatever claimed to be our friend couldn’t have been more opposite to the character of our friend. A creature of pure evil tried is the only way to describe the thing. Easy to dismiss as the amusement of youth but this happened during the heat of summer and for 3 days and nights the room used was cold enough to blow frosty breath visibly. I suggest that if you have doubts go and experience the oddities of life that just cannot be explained rationally

You can’t see the invisible. Pure spirits are immaterial, don’t have bodies, and so can’t look like anything. The traditional Catholic understanding has long been that visions, etc., are productions of our imagination, sometimes caused by our own mind-body unity, sometimes caused by other minds’ influence on us. Even then, the traditional understanding is that what is most directly manipulated by those other minds (be they angels, demons, or other human minds) is the physical aspect of the self-specifically, the parts of us responsible for perception and imagination-to make it *seem* as if we are perceiving the visions, voices, etc. It’s also Catholic tradition is push as far as possible to find natural explanations for the phenomena. Bringing in the cognitive functions is a fantastic approach.
