Commenting before listening because .. because! We are Not afraid of power. We'd rather not do the work if it's not necessary; as well, we are comfortable 'running in the background.' We Are concerned about someone else's inability to lead during a time of actual importance at which point we'll either weigh in or absent ourselves. This process is accelerated during times of crises. In critical situations, we will respond immediately.

So true. In my 70 years, I have experienced taking leadership just if it was necessary, or becoming informal leader silently and unexpected.

I am not scared of being in a position of power but not through intimidation or force but rather by showcasing my results in work and social life I don’t have a fear of leading and I do not paralyze myself with perfectionism it’s no secret I take more chances than anyone who ever dare to do which makes me a silent yet powerful leader

This subject of power is complex. Take running a country, the complex nature of its structure manifests itself on the world stage, and yet it holds dominance over those within its realm. We contain the world inside us. As individuals we see and experience its depth in a personal way. INTJ are visionaries yes, and we function behind the scenes in many venues occupations etc.. the quote “power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely” whereby we INFJ will not mix in well with persons who are competitive, success driven, manipulative, driven to their own agenda and so on. You are right in that we are conscious of power implications and to that end ‘good fences make good neighbors’ so to speak. To us there is no such thing as flexible integrity.

I am always cool calm and collected I am under the most scrutiny and pressure but it doesn’t effect me negatively but positively I like challenges and I thrive solving problems that is why I am not the most liked but respected

So true! Great power comes with great responsibilities. And power corrupts, no matter how good and moral the potential leader’s initial intention was. As the power grows, greed, self-interest and egoism will creep in and eventually destroys integrity. So if I were to start a project and intended for it to become big and successful, either I will get corrupted in the end or I will just halt the project halfway if it starts to lose it’s prime principles or morals. Either way, I will not be a very good leader, so I might as well not get involved at all in the first place. 🙄

I avoid poweer at every avenue; any chance I see to take a advantage creates a negative aversion . I do believe it is part of my infj morality

I so agree with what you both are saying. I have had leadership roles and I became either bossy or controlling. I hated being that person and so I avoid leadership roles.

@ fynessa, your response tells me u have battled the temptations of power won over them. While I commend u most don’t trust themselves with that level of power regardless of their will to weld it. Also power in itself is inequity which is another thing many struggle to reconcile; thoughts? U sound very. Disciplined

Power and leadership imply to be in the spotlight and to be constantly present to make decisions. We like our peace and we don't need to shine. Also, in my case, I don't like to talk, I have difficulties communicating what's in my mind and I have become very good at being invisible, thus people don't know what's inside. I believe they think I am dull and wouldn't listen to me. Which I'm just fine with.

@ I completely understand. Having the ability to navigate with Power makes everything interesting. I’m entering into a possible promotion. Most would welcome this game changer. Upper management is attempting to be… persuasive. It baffles them that I’m not jumping on it. Oh well.

INFJs don't need to change the rest of the world does we need more leaders that will listen to these INFJs any infj will tell you when do you become a leader you change just taking on the role changes you you're no longer the wise counselor you're the leader with many more duties and responsibilities to clutter and complicate the thought processes not to mention the trap of greed and power. What is more important as a leader that listens to the people and who is motivated for the good and betterment of all. An effective leader is not the smartest person in the room he is however wise enough to bring together people who are but they have to be like-minded and selfless especially the leader

Im not afraid of power. I'm just not interested in playing that game with people. People are exhausting, we're all equals, just some are too wrapped up in the game to see it for what it is, i'm a worn out 30yo that feels like I'm 90 surrounded by 6 year olds.

I don't need to lead. I just don't want to be led by a fool. I'll step in only if there's no one remotely capable. Otherwise, I prefer doing things on my own as much as I can.
