A customer of mine wanted a shed and she had her heart set on one of these plastic ones. I wouldn't have previously considered ever having one but I thought I'd hold judgement until I had put it together.
They do take quite a while to construct so don't start late in the day, especially in the winter because you'll run out of time.
I don't know how well these last but from other videos I can see that they weather fairly well. I'm still not convinced about how these look but if they're in a dark corner of the garden I guess they're OK.
Keter haven't paid me to do this video and they're unaware I was making it.
Below is an affiliate link if you're interested in buying the one I put together in the video.

If you decide to purchase via the link I'll be paid a small commission from Amazon. This doesn't change the price of the product for you.

I've had the 6x4ft Keter shed for 2.5 years now. The roof is the hardest bit if you're on your own. Secret is to get it on at one of the short ends and chuck a big bag of builder's sand or similar on the bit you've done to hold it down otherwise it keeps popping back out when you're trying to do the other end. Really happy with mine.

The bag of sand trick worked well for the 6x5 I just put up. I got the front edge in and centred and put a couple of screws in to hold in place. I messed around with the back end for about 10 mins before throwing the bag up there, piece of cake from there on. Cheers D

Oh, I would love, so much, to have a nice greenhouse. I could get one! However, it's so hot here in Florida, you just about have to run a/c's to keep the plants alive..I can't talk myself into it. At least not now. This is my favorite time of year. Now, Andrew..is it me, or have you guys expanded the flowers over the last couple of years? I can't remember the greenhouses being this full.

I bought the Darwin Keter brown shed. It is really a corrugated cardboard with a plastic spray on it. It is pretty flimsy. It is under our two story deck so it has protection and sits on a cement patio. I just built it and will say that I wouldn't purchase this again because I cannot imagine it will last very long, and the 10 year warranty has a lot of exclusions. I'm just storing some gardening tomato guards, etc. Anyone who wants to get into it just needs a box cutter to open it up. It looks nice but it really is pretty flimsy. If it lasts longer I'll update this. I can't imagine it will last more than a couple years so the $500 cost is high. I didn't take it back only because it was just to heavy.

You’re right that they’re easy to break into. I wouldn’t want expensive tools in it for sure. But then again most sheds are easy to break into. As for the warranty, I’ve never dealt with the company so I don’t know how well they treat you in that situation.

A few questions... Can you screw the base down to ply base on the frame? Could you put a ply base inside the shed? Finally, do the vents have insect screens built in to them? Thanks
@tecmow4399

You probably could lay an extra sheet of ply inside if you needed the floor to take a beating. You can also fix the base down at specified points too if you need to anchor it. From memory there’s no insect screen on the vents

any idea if it is possible to screw hooks or brackets for shelving, and if yes, what screws would you recommend?
@tecmow4399
@tecmow4399 Жыл бұрын
You could mount them to the vertical steel studs. You’d probably have to pilot hole the metal first. I don’t know if Keter recommend that or if they have a system for it 🤷🏼‍♂️. They’d probably just say to use freestanding shelves. Just standard self tapping screws should be fine from screwfix or somewhere like that.
@andybrice2711

On some Keter products, you put a piece of metal extrusion through the twin-wall channel and then screw into that. I'm pretty sure that'd work, but I don't know how much it'd void your warranty.

Good video. I have removed my old wooden shed and have 8 wooden beams for the base of my new Keter shed. This means the base will have gaps in between although the beams are level. I wanted this to keep the height as we had flooding last year. If I put mdf on the floor on the inside, do you think this is feasible or do I need to remove the beams and have a completely level base for the Keter shed floor.

I bought a sturdy 6ft by 6ft with 12mm shipmap tounge and groove for £100 more than this keter flimsy rubbish. It is like the Tardis in reverse, very small interior. The roof overhange is counted as the size of the shed, which means the shed isnt 6ft by 5ft but 5ft 6in by 4ft 6in, but the interior size is is 5ft by 4ft. What different to the 6ft by 5ft as advertised. Very misleading by Keter. Flimsy floor made of corigated plastic about 5mm thick. It is not safe, only a stanly knife is needed to easily cut a whole the size of you choice to enter the shed. Do yourself a favour and buy a sturdy wooden shed. My keter has been returned for a full refund. I feel mislead by Keter. Buyer beware.
