I got the Seiko Cocktail time (light blue dial) as my first automatic watch and loved it. Then I saw the Sakura Fubuki Cocktail time, loved it and bought it. Same happened with the Starlight cocktail time. Some people have said that I have 3 of the same watch, but those dials are to die for, and the premium I paid for the limited edition ones were reasonable. As long as the premium is reasonable for you, then go for it and don't let other people's comments hinder you from appreciating your watch

I mod my G shock. Thats how I make my watch my own. There's a Gundam limited version g shock, but years before its release, I already have a char aznable's zaku red-pink g shock that I custom panel lined, with grey with red dotted display filter, grilled light g button with piping and zeonic markings airbrushed on the band.

I have the SARY085. It has got imo the best dial of every Cocktail time there is. But technically it is just a Presage with a stupid gap in between the crown and the case . Sucky hardlex and it is just too big and thick for a dress watch. And way too expensive for a 4R. Got sucked in because of the dial. Now it's just sitting in the box as my personal scalper " investment" piece.

Found a brand new fuyugeshiki (the SSA with power reserve like yours) for retail price 2 weeks ago and instantly bought it. Would I have paid a premium for it? Probably not, because if you have to pay that much more (like some prices on chrono24), then you get in the realm of SARX055 prices which is just a better watch (unless you absolutely prefer the snowy dial to the frosted one of the SARX). I also plan to buy the King Samurai Save the Ocean LE as soon as it's available, but even that version does not cost all that much over the other variants. So, as long as you absolutely adore the LE variant (for whatever reason) and the price is not too much higher than the standard one, then go for it if you can snatch one. If it costs too much more or you'd be able to enjoy a standard edition almost as much, then I would get a standard or just wait for newer models. Especially if we're talking SEIKO, popular models like Cocktail Time and Samurai get new releases every year or every other year

I couldn't agree with you more and not only do I love Akira, which is the quintessential Godfather of all anime and a badass movie, but I probably also have one of the largest digital cartoon collections around . Started out as me collecting a few of the cartoons that I grew up with (I'm 43) and it quickly blew up and snowballs out of control and turned into a substantially large digital media collection. But as far as the cartoons go I have just about anything and everything Hanna-Barbera ever produced including other fantastic things like Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels, the original Jonny Quest series from the 50s, the Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show, Garfield, Heathcliff, Wally gator, Yogi Bear & Boo Boo, The Pink Panther series, The Complete Thundercats series from start to finish, the complete X-Men the Animated Series as well as the two additional spin-off series, the complete the roadrunner and coyote show series including all the Chrysler Plymouth Dodge commercials featuring the roadrunner and many many others. In a nutshell I pretty much have every cartoon btjunkie had on file before their server was voluntarily shut down when they were threatened by Ice and btjunkie ceasd to exist. About all I can say is I don't know what the issue was but I'm glad I got all these wonderful awesome cartoons while I could as most are Obsolete and no longer available. On another note I will add that the watch that started it all and got me interested in the watch collecting Hobby was indeed a limited edition of sorts, an Invicta 1959 Russian diver, offshore Anniversary Edition blue dial chronograph. I love the look of it and just had to have it and I was hooked but then the fact that they claim it commemorates the 1959 Russian Olympic dive team as the team watch they were wearing I thought that was pretty neat as well. Nowadays my 2 best watches would mean my Orient Ray II with sapphire crystal and my Haemmer black fin / navy Diver, and who knows maybe an skx will be next 🤓

Oris Aquis great barrier reef limited editions I find interesting. The cause behind the issue, two thousand pieces, and the color / design changes. Sure you can buy an Aquis much much cheaper, but if the design and layout speak to you go for it. Always buy what you want. Sometimes you just have to be patient and wait for the right deal to come along.

I own one limited edition watch, a Stowa Partitio with the gray sunburst dial. Regular models come with black or white dials (think there's a limited edition black dial variant as well) . As one of only 100 produced, I'd like to think it's actually limited! 😁😁😁

Funny you bring up the SRPD36J1 I purchased mine from Macy's and they messed up the shipping so bad. What's the point of LE if it doesn't even come with the proper packaging and extra strap? It was even more frustrating when they tried to pretend new stock was hard to get a hold of.

Theirs only 3 limited editions that I’ve even cared for... 1st one is the Gibson Les Paul edition of the Raymond Weil Freelancer Chrono. But that’s because I’m A HUGE FAN of both Gibson & the les Paul, the little details they added. Beautiful to me. I’d like to get one. I believe it was retailing for $300 more then the base Model... but retailers would usually discount them heavily for obvious reasons. 2nd: I do like the Snoopy Apollo 13 50th Anv edition is one that I want but scalpers seemingly ruined that for me. 3rd: And the last one, cheesed me. Back in 2013 Citizen releases the “Blue Angels” World Chrono A-T. It was supposed to be a limited edition. I even have the Original packaging that says it’s a Limited edition. Ok, thanks for the thoughts. Me I am often ok with the limited/special editions. Especially with Seiko I think to myself that I will fully buy in (mean that multiply) and only get limited editions. And so far it has worked alright. I see the special/limited edition I would want of a specific product line, and then i see the premium asked for, which I can't justify, and don't buy another Seiko. Seriously though, limited editions continue to get my attention, and sometimes my money. [Yema Superman French Air-force, is of interest. It is not the most expense Superman, it has a different, but not necessarily better movement than some other Superman line models, so that is something a bit unique, and then it becomes more just style differences (more brushing, less polish). So although the limit is not too limiting, it seems to do enough to interest me.]

Honestly there's a limited edition watch that I have my eye on as my one and only grail. I'm not to the point where I'm able or willing to doll out 'big bucks' ($1000+) on watches yet. Just don't have the finances, but I'm still into getting vintage pieces or modern ones like the Presage cocktail time where I can. But if I ever came into a big wad of disposable income... the one watch is on my list. Just need to fall into 7k first lol

The only "limited edition" watch I have is a TAG Heuer Calibre 16 F1 Senna Edition. Sure its a TAG and its the only TAG i have but its nice and I do have a Monaco which is technically only a Heuer so i feel that evens it out. Especially with how it looks.

Most Seiko Limited Editions are like 3-4x my watch budget, so I can not afford them anyway. Also: Limited edition Seiko models are extremly hard to find in Europe or especially in Austria, where I live. It´s very sad. The watch market in my country is basically so tiny that ADs don´t even have the chance to import some certain Seiko models for me....

I think some of Seikos's Special Editions and Limited Editions are MADE and sold more in numbers than their general variants. If its not exactly true now, it will soon be so with the current trends.

Oris Fanboi Alert! I think the Oris Aquis line handles limited editions quite well. Beyond colors, they tend to include design features you don't see on standard Aquis's. That and they actually use the limited edition line to raise awareness and support for the certain aquatic conservation endeavors. It's limited edition with purpose (beyond getting your almighty dollar).

Yes, they are worth in some instances such as the Seiko "Save the Ocean" series (I own the great white samurai) where the proceeds go for a good cause and I have deep respect for Jacques Cousteau. Obviously the dial looks AMAZING!!!

I love the engraved pam604, but at £15,000 compared to the £5,000 pam610 is a rip off. I love panerai design, but they just have no respect for customers. I could by a £120 parnis and swap over the engraved case if I wanted the pam604 case so bad.

I just found a micro brand company in Texas where my daughter moved too last year called Jack Mason. They use Japanese movements in automatic and quartz. I bought their Aviation watch called Pursuit and prices are good and reviews have the quality at very good. I don't buy limited edition anything. As a car guy, limited edition is another word for we can't sell what we got, so we are going to dress up this turd and sell more of these for more money.

Im totally disagree with u. Most people dont flip watches, they buy them, hold them for very long and maybe sell them. I was looking for a limited watch which had a wow factor for me for long time. I just found one after 2 years looking and i bought Seiko SPB399 recently. Limit of 800. Its the best looking watch i have seen for long time, and for me its important that its only 800 of it in the world. I cant see the point of of owning a rolex where the watch is rare if its 25 000 produced. That is many when its luxury watch...

Special edition watches should be 'special' .. it doesn't matter special in terms of design / colour/ accessories of the watch it self or others the packaging/boxes.. And for limitted edition should been told how much they produced so costumers can know how limited they are.

The same way special edition watches have supporters. I’d say is no different than vintage discontinued watches that have their collectors. Personally I’m not interested in some guy who plays guitar in a rock band promoting a wrist watch as it holds no added value to the genuine tool intent of any watch. It’s probably why I like a vintage watches for the simplicity of fit, form and function to start with. I guess there’s a reason unblemished simplistic functional products continue to be sought after like many of the discontinued Rolex models. To each there own, colour and promotional endorsement severs only the commercial branding generating interest in someone being promoted as opposed to the objects used for the promoting. I.M.O....Vintage appeal is less contrived before branding or product endorsements became the new norm. Craftsmen ship, and quality I’d think was a bigger concern in a bygone era rather than who sports something on any celebrities wrist.

Special edition is a con by the watch manufacturers aimed to drive up the price of the watch and therefore make more profit. By creating the rarity of a particular watch drives up the price of it.

Speaking of Seiko and limited editions, I just learned recently that Seiko Thailand has their own line of limited edition watches called Zimbe editions. Most of them are just rehashed colours of their existing watches but one caught my attention: Seiko Zimbe 9 SRPD13K. It's a Samurai but with a grey dial and bezel with red accents. The really special part was that they changed the hands to baton hands much like the Captain Willard and boy it looks AMAZING.

I think it would refer to a watch that is friendly to newcomers (i.e. Hacking, handwinding...) and doesn’t break the bank but isn’t extremely cheap either. Overall, I think it’d be a watch that’s good value for the money, not condescending at all.
