I think Malaysians can speak english better than most Asian countries

While not the best with definitely still big room for improvement, yeah I think our English is decent compared to other nations. You will only start realising about it when you travel frequently to other countries and travel off a little bit the central/touristy area. I went to central Bangkok and was using Grab car to travel around, almost all drivers spoke little to no English to the point I just gave up communicating 😂Also countries like Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, Taiwan, and Japan (despite being a highly developed nation, their English education has failed to train them to speak at least basic English). The Japanese will try to avoid answering you or wave "no" back at you when you randomly ask a passer-by in English, they are that scared to speak or listen to English. Of course not talking bout those working at hotel reception, tourist info centres, metro stations or places that have to serve tourists in general. 🤣

@@leontnf6144 Non-English speaking countries are poor countries. I'm so proud that M'sia is an English speaking country, and we are rich AF. You want a proof? Immigrants are everywhere, and not a single M'sian works abroad.

To be frank, I have heard that teaching English as a non-native is close to impossible in countries like Japan and South Korea no matter how flawless your English is. One of their requirements literally mentions it needs to be your native tongue, and ideally you should come from a country where it is the main language like US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand.

@wonwonees Sorry if my statement isn't clear. I didn't mean the non-Koreans but non-native English speakers when I said "non-native". Even if your English is superb, but u are not a citizen of one of the English-speaking countries like US, UK, Aussie, Canada, you can't legally teach English in their countries as foreigners. English language centres or academies only hire "western/white" English speaking people if you know what I mean lol. Like they won't hire Singaporeans, Indians or Filipinos who have very good command of English. Maybe they think people born, growing up in English speaking countries and speaking with a "natural" English accent are somehow superior than those who learn the language as a 2nd language.

I'm glad that M'sia is an English speaking country. That makes us more advanced and developed than non-English speaking countries like China, Japan, Germany, France, and indon of course la.

Assalammu'alaikum Love this edutainment content , keep it up🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 just a few suggestions for improvement for next episode: instead of one person answers the qn at a time and telling that answer is incorrect, which then allows the rest to keep guessing via elimination method, maybe ask them to answer quick at once 😍 okay? hehe. like a speed test haha. however this episode brings back memories esp listening to audios and then answering comprehension-style questions 😂 I enjoyed this episode ❤

no leh Malaysians are plural, that's why the apostrophe is after s, to indicate possession to a plural matter. so title is correct @@imvanessalee
@imvanessalee
@imvanessalee Жыл бұрын
@@宁语嫣 posession to plural matter doesn’t make it plural? the subject of the sentence with is ‘English’ will forever be uncountable therefore it cannot be counted as plural. and you have to always take into account the subject. Is our Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim or Are our Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim? It will be ‘is’ because we are only referring to one prime minister only although he is OUR prime minister.
@leontnf6144
@leontnf6144 Жыл бұрын
@@宁语嫣 Grammatically the correct answer should be "is". You need to identify the actual subject of the sentence and the verb-to-be needs to correspond to it a.k.a subject-verb agreement. One shouldn't just take the easy way out, see what word sticks next to the verb immediately and assume it is the subject. Because in some sentence structures, like questions, it can be misleading. For example, "Both my parents' cooking IS fantastic." The word 'cooking' which refers to the food that the parents make is the subject and not the parents, hence the correct verb-to-be is "is" and not "are". If it becomes a question it would be "Is your parents' cooking fantastic?" "The students' hard work WAS the core element of their success." The word "hard work", which is uncountable, is the subject of the sentence and not the students, hence the correct verb-to-be is "was" and not "were". When asked as a question, it would be "Was the students' hard work the core element of their success?"

We are decent, for Asian standard we are pretty good. Just avoid mixing up the language too much. It's a become a norm nowadays especially to the younger generation. For me, it just looks very silly and slowly killing the (national) language. Please speak a proper language.
