I think there's an unrealistic expectation that a partner can fulfill your every need. Often they can't. Especially in long term marriages. Most people that have been together longer than a few years, have affairs...sooo why not be honest. If the unfulfillment is emotional...you can almost get away with getting fulfillment elsewhere...from friends and family But what if the unfulfillment is sexual...in that case we are expected to suffer sexual unfullfilment or leave the person we have a great partnership with because sexually it's not working out at that time in the relationship. In that case an open marriage is a good option.

Kwame Crooks I think you are pretty close to 100% here.. One of the things I have had to learn in my marriage is that I and my husband look at sex completely different. He is ready whenever, however, wherever he can be. Sex is just an act for him. It’s fun, but doesn’t require any real connection with the person he’s having sex with. I, on the other hand, require that connection. If we are arguing or if I’m not feeling appreciated or if something weird is happening between us then I am much less likely to want to have sex. All of this disparity in sex drives can be resolved and explained by communication and an attempt to understand your partner.
