I loved this episode because the kids felt a dilemma and later went to their parents for help. I know this is just a show, but, it's a good example of what a family should be.

Glad that Mike and Carol cleared up the misunderstanding
@sdstewart1962 Жыл бұрын
This second half of this episode never made any sense to me. After talking to Mike and Carol, the boys know Mike didn't write it and the girls know Carol didn't write it; and Alice knows that neither of them wrote it. All they had to do was compare notes. "Hey, Marcia. Dad didn't write it." "And Mom didn't write it! We were all worked up over nothing!"
@ninademci1500 Жыл бұрын
@sdstewart1962, not to be a beo-otch, but if Marcia and Greg compared notes, the episode would’ve been furring boring and a lot shorter.
@sdstewart1962 Жыл бұрын
@@ninademci1500 LOL not being a be-otch at all! It's just another example of what I've always called the "5 second sitcom rule"--If the characters would do what any "normal" person would do in a similar circumstance, the show would be over in 5 seconds.

Wonderful! Even back when I first saw the series, I thought every family should have an Alice - a kind of neutral person who holds the household together and gives everyone good advice on how to come clear with each other. Even though she describes herself as an innocent bystander, she is so much more.

@@bretstanley8931After they shot the pilot in late 1968, she cut her hair very short for a film "Song Of Norway". When the series was picked up and started shooting in 1969, they had her wear a wig till her hair had time to grow back out. By the time they did the Christmas episode, she was back to wearing her real hair.

At some point later in the series, Florence wore what were then considered "cool Mom" hairstyles. Although, not all the cool moms were good or happy moms. Some drank, had affairs or were saddled with husbands who cheated or drank or both. There was also abuse and deception by either spouse. I went to Catholic grade school and can't believe what my peers sometimes experienced at home behind a BB-like facade of middle class stability.

This first season shot in 1969 had more of a 60's sitcom format. When they got into the 70's they found their footing and it got better. That last season with Cousin Oliver was a jump the shark moment.
