The whole waistcape debaucle is just a bunch of stupid excuses to maximize profit margins. 1: minifigs can sit with waist capes, OG Rex can literally sit down with his on the set box. 2: other themes have waistcapes, and Dreamzzz is obviously aimed towards kids. Leave waistcapes as an option at least, Lego is already experiencing massive profit margins, increase your quality ffs.

@@FabuBrik Oh but that set's 18+ so it's NOT for kids. Oh but don't criticise anything about it because it's just a toy for kids so stop nitpicking! But the UCS Venator was 18+ too, and DIDN'T come with a waist cape. All joking aside, LEGO and their staunchest defenders really are just running in circles with these arguments, so when people brush it all off with "manchildren complaining about toys" they're just licking the corporate boot.

Yeah some sort of Lego forum where they can have designers answering questions every now and then would be great, I know that would be hard as Legos official website is very geared towards children and online safety etc

@@nathonso_edits Even just a community manager would do so well for them. Offload the child safety to another platform like Twitter. Basically every other company is doing this and LEGO is so far behind since they have a monopoly and no pressure from competitors. I understand the child online safety on their own website, but as a brand you cannot push 18+ hard and then simultaneously treat those fans like children.

Regardless of the complaints of Lego Star Wars, I think it's really great that Lego allows these events to be filmed and seems to be listening to the fans, at the end of the day they have many other things they have to pay attention to like playability, structure and what kind of sets sell well etc

I still think the solution to the Gunship is it should’ve been the muun 10 version from the 2003 clone wars option. It would’ve been something new, it has whole sliding double doors, its design is 20 years old, and has enough fans of the design. It checks so many boxes it makes more sense than what they did choose.

I appreciate getting a lot of these questions answered even though some of the reasoning is ridiculous. Also some more minifig based questions would be nice like why is Fox and Vaughn's printing inaccurate? Why does Padme reuse a common head instead of a more unique on like we got in 2013? Why does the Gunship have only five figures for a $140 set? Also the helmet holes probably need to be addressed although they don't bother me as much as it does others.

The real question to ask these designers is please point to who the boss is in the room that kills appropriate design choices like having the waist cape? Wouldn't you like to know who is in charge of a design decision that may cost Lego an extra nickel which is miniscule in the grand scheme of things.

How out of touch are you to sarcasticly say starfighters are 'just what we all wanted' and then proceed to say you want a UCS Anakins starfighter when what WE all really want is more starfighters as they are cheap, great for display or play and offer great minifigure selections. Most of us (me included) do not even own a single UCS setans obviously you're fine to have your opinion but its kind of annoying seeing you say it like its the majority opinion when you have an actual influence. Its not the same as if I do it, your voice has actual weight behind it so just for the record, all of us DO want more cheap starfighters and although a UCS phase 2 starfighter would be sick if thats all we get then like 70-80% of us will be pretty pissed. I can't believe people will refer to valid criticism as toxicity in the community. Its still rather expensive plastic that makes them plenty of money. Sure there are other things to consider and I can at least appreciate getting the argumentation behind these choices. But, any paying consumer should feel free to voice any criticism of the products they're purchasing (or not). I do wonder if designer panels for other themes are this negative? Seems like all of the questions are along the lines of "why did you do X?" or "why did you make compromises with Y?" and answers that sound like "blah blah blah excuses" and "blah blah just because idk". I haven't seen this in other themes but maybe I'm just not looking. The recent Ornithopter reveal was incredible, the Rivendell designer panel showed the attention to detail and care while fans got the entire fellowship and easter eggs in the set, Avengers tower has 30 figs. Am I crazy or is it just my SW bias?

I'd say the vitriol likely comes in large part from the prices of Star Wars sets. Yes, licensing tax etc, but the price of sets is going up and up so should account for that - and while I don't think the physical bricks or design quality is necessarily dropping, the more deeply cut corners are obvious. A $600 set with two figures? The AT-TE and Republic Gunship both come with five figures for around a quarter of the price. It's insulting at that point (edit: as are things like the pathetic gift with purchase, oh yeah thanks a lot, you're so grateful I paid you more than a month's rent that you've giving me a piece of metal and two pieces of fabric).

It's because the other themes feel like designers are going out of their way to put in extra details or features for fans to enjoy. With LSW, it feels like corners keep getting cut because they know it'll make a lot of money anyways. It's sad, but looking back on the theme things used to be great because we used to get a ton of stuff at the time, but costs keep increasing but quality and quantity have been random.

Do Lego Clone Wars fans have tunnel vision? Because the Clone Wars is not the only Star Wars saga that exists. There have been like 26 Lego Republic Gunships and all I ever hear is, "When are we getting another Republic Gunship?" How about you enjoy the ones you own already? There's the Old Republic/Sith Empire, New Republic/Remnant, and New Empire from Star Wars Legacy that we've never even received sets from and it's just more clone wars more clone wars more clone wars.

There have been 4 gunships that are worth £350+ now each and the most recent one is almost 10 years old. Obviously people wanted a new one that they could actually afford and some new fans weren't even born for the last one. Clone wars is the most popular star wars media among fans right now and probably will remain that way until dave filoni stops putting ahsoka in everything and the old Republic is very niche so of course they won't make as many sets ALSO there have been multiple new republic/remnant sets in the last few years due to the mandalorian and such.

I don't care about anything related to Disney, because the only thing printed more than Clone Wars is canon stuff that nobody wants. Maybe when you stop getting catered to, then you'll understand what the rest of us "niche" people really feel like.

Citing playability issues and consistency as reasons for omitting cloth pieces is very off-putting and not only in regard to UCS sets. Instead of not including elements that have a miniscule impact on production cost and obviously have a much higher impact on the perceived quality and feel of the product - simply add cloth pieces to sets with the adequate clone troopers and leave it to the customers/fans to decide if they want to use them or not. Something similar is already done with the clone helmet visor and rangefinder attachments. Children that can and want to - will use the cloth waste capes and adults will be happier with both the message LEGO is sending and all of their purchases, ranging from battle packs and play sets all the way to adult and very expensive Ultimate Collector Series sets. In addition: LEGO Dreamzzz 71469 Nightmare Shark Ship - very much a play set, includes figure drm030 with a cloth waste cape that without a doubt needs to be folded, pulled up or otherwise manipulated for the minifigure to be seated. Seems like simply adding the cloth pieces is an easy solution that would increase quality at minimal expense.
