"we have forgotten who we are" ----------------- That's impossible to do because our TRUE NATURE is not something that we remember or not. I.e. everything that can be forgotten is NOT me. Can a person forget how to breath and saffocate as the result of that? Almost impossible. The same is true with our true nature. Even if we lose ALL the knowledge we will still be ourselves. Our true nature is not about REMEMBERING who we are. In opposite everything we know or remember about ourselves is false. Our true nature is INCOMPREHENCIBLE so how on Earth we can forget that we cannot understand?
@igorchemmykelly7202 Жыл бұрын
"we have forgotten who we are in that moment." --------------- On the other hand, if a person plays a role and she forgets the role it makes her suffer. That's true. The main problem of our society is that everyone plays a role of not who they really are. Forgeting the role is what really matters. In other words we return to our true nature through forgetting and not through remembering. Our attencion is firmly held by our knowledge so we are slaves of our knowledge and the people who explain to us everything.

But when things go bad, you become very aware. ------------------- We usually say inside of us, "WTF is going on?" But in the Bible it is written, "But he said to her, «You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity?" So something is wrong with our attitude to reality.

I want to practice listening to those intelligent signals so that I can know my true nature. How awesome everyone of us is, yes, made in the Image and likeness of God. I never really understood that until I found this man. FWIW, the Dalai Lama asked neuroscientist Richard Davison to do MRI scans on Tibetan Buddhist monks who were advanced meditators. (Richard Spira's spiritual approach rests on Buddhism & Hinduism more than on western traditions.). The scans showed their brain tissues are different from "normal" adults. MRI scans can show the level of emotional pain a person experiences. The monks were shown imagery of horrific suffering. They experienced more pain than normal people, but released the pain quickly & completely. This is what I meant when I wrote that babies are happier than adults. It doesn't mean they don't experience pain, but they don't have what Buddhism calls "suffering.". Babies cry without inhibitions but they don't have stories in their mind to increase the pain, so they stop crying real fast once the cause of crying is removed. The pain is increased when we resist it because the inner resistance adults have, makes this happen. Our stories (like; "nobody loves me," or "why do things like this happen to me?" or whatever) make the pain last much longer than need be. This is what I meant with "happiness is a constant," & yes, those words aren't precise, so I add precision now. Most adults, most of the time, are fussing with stories about their own past, in their minds, or filled with plans & ideas about the future, so they aren't fully alive RIGHT NOW. Babies & animals (& Buddhist monks who are adepts) feel life's pain more & completely let go real fast. It is why abused kids love & forgive their own parents (& don't want to lose them) when they are real little. If you aren't fussing w stories in the mind, about the past & future, you are more alive in the moment, & therefore happier. It is why so many remember childhood with nostalgia.

It's true that we try to escape the story of who we think we are but there's a lot more to experience than thinking and not all experience takes place through thinking. If you're suffering emotionally you have allowed yourself to become so mixed with the content of your experience that you believe I am this collection of thinking, feeling, sensing and perceiving. You have forgotten or overlooked who you truly are. Just like physical pain is an intelligent signal saying you need to attend to the body, suffering is an intelligent signal from the mind that reminds us that we have overlooked or forgotten who we truly are. Instead of trying to fulfil the suffering or avoid it through objects, substances, etc. we should take it as a signal to go back to ourselves, which is the source of peace. 10:34: Suffering 12:18: Back and forth

Actually it's easy. To understand ourselves we have to think that we are computers and like computers we have "sensors" video camera ---- eyes; speakers ---- ears ; Microphone---mouth etc. All of these sensors provide us with information and it is stored or deleted depending on its importance. Our feelings are "programs" with which we are born, computers have "operating systems". We believe that a certain behavior will bring us "happiness", and it is true. But we can also use this "program" without certain behavior. In short: All these feelings are "programs" that we can choose ourselves, at any time. And that regardless of the situation in which we find ourselves

Once I woke up in the morning without the usual knowledge of who I was. It was kind of scary, but I had my normal surroundings to help me remember who I was. For example, I thought, okay so I'm the guy who lives in this room, etc. Later I contemplated... what if a homeless person had that experience; waking up on a sidewalk with nothing personal around him to remind him of who he is? That could be why some homeless people seem to be crazy. Or what if this is what happens to the elderly and their family views that as a mental problem, e.g. "Alzheimer's" instead of seeing that the person is all there, just not the superficial part.

"If you don´t escape, if you allow the suffering to be there, if you are ready to face it, if you are not trying somehow to forget it, then you are different. Suffering is there but just around you; it is not in the center, it is on the periphery. It is impossible for suffering to be in the center; it is not in the nature of things. It is always on the periphery and you are the center. So when you allow it to happen, you don´t escape, you don´t run, you are not in a panic, suddenly you become aware that suffering is there on the periphery as if happening to someone else, not to you, and you are looking at it. A subtle joy spreads all over your being because you have realized one of the basic truths of life, that you are bliss and not suffering."

0:33 I think it is essential to understand the difference between thinking and thought. As there is usually a lot of misty confusion within and all around the word ``thinking``, and no clear reasoning about the subject of thinking is usually brought into being. As a matter of fact .. in most cases, when we think we think we do not actually think .. but we rather put one thought after another to assemble a type of reasoning .. And thought is always a thing of the past, plus it is conditioned by countless amount of factors (such as cultural conditioning, family conditioning, environmental conditioning, acquired knowledge and information, anecdotal things, personal experiences, strong opinions, beliefs, and so on).
@isaac1572 Жыл бұрын
I think that thinking is the physical process of energy and chemical flow along neurones and synapses, and thoughts are the resulting subjective energy image product. You can't think without producing thoughts, and you can't have thoughts without thinking. they are inextricably linked. Thoughts only exist in the now. In order to remember a thought, you have to rethink it in the now. If you are remembering the past, you are thinking it in the now. Similarly if you are imagining the future, you are thinking it now. Thinking produces thoughts and thoughts inspire thinking, and further thinking produces more thoughts. It is a self perpetuating train of thinking thoughts, thinking, thoughts. During thinking, more possibilities are offered by the working memory from the subconscious mind. so whilst thinking a complexed thought or series of thoughts, more thinking is involuntarily offering more thoughts for inclusion from the working memory into the thinking thought train.
@diegokricekfontanive Жыл бұрын
@@isaac1572 I would say that what you just described here is in fact thought. Or what we call thought processes, which are indeed material phenomena, as they happen in the brain thanks to the chemical/electric/mnemonic components combined with the information one has acquired throughout their lifetime. Thinking is the activity of consciousness that can either be completely influenced by thoughts or can rather supervise and observe their interferences.
@isaac1572 Жыл бұрын
@@diegokricekfontanive Do you think this could be touching on the hard problem of consciousness. The physical, production process of thinking, that produces the subjective energy of consciousness that then facilitates thought. Once a thought has been processed in the thinking mind, it is then relegated to the subconscious mind and only reappears via the working memory during the next relevant thinking event.
@diegokricekfontanive Жыл бұрын
@@isaac1572 Yes, I think that understanding the difference between the dynamics of thought and those of thinking is an excellent (and necessary) framework and approach to the hard problem of consciousness. Particularly the problem that sees thought involving time (thought is always emerging from contents stored in the brain in the past) while the act of thinking instead occurs throughout the succession of moments in which in fact we think (we do not think ``yesterday or tomorrow `` but rather we think at the very moment in which we think).
@isaac1572 Жыл бұрын
@@diegokricekfontanive If thought and thinking are inextricably linked, then they must both occur in the 'now' simultaneously, but be stored over time. So is it more likely that it/they are stored in the subconscious, as a unique circuit of potential energy and chemical flow to activate the thinking, and thus reproduce the same thought, or is it more likely that the thought, the blob of produced energy, is stored ready to re-inspire the thinking process.

@@wideworldcoaching OK, I’m not an expert in this. Just some thoughts. Suffering is real and thoughts are what seems to us. Something that is real can be the cause of what is not real but opposite is impossible. Our minds can see only what is not real. It’s like we take a picture of suffering and we look at that picture of suffering and we think that we observe real suffering. That’s not true. The picture of suffering(our thoughts) is not real. And we can’t see real suffering. But we blame the picture(our thoughts) for what is on that picture(suffering). For example somebody took a picture of a car crash and she thought that the cause of the car crash was the picture she took. So she destroyed the picture in hope to solve the problem of the car crash. It was silly. Thoughts don’t matter. They just show to us that something is not good. To fight the thoughts doesn’t help. On the other hand the thought is our enemy because it keeps us in the prison of what isn’t real. Being in the prison of what isn’t real we can’t deal with real suffering. To solve the problem of suffering we must break out of the prison first. So we can’t KNOW what suffering is because knowing is the function of the mind and it doesn’t help to face real suffering. So the mind can’t deal with suffering DIRECTLY and namely the mind prevents us from facing suffering. The mind is like a toy for a baby that keeps us busy. The toy doesn’t help the baby to get rid of suffering when it is hungry for example. That’s it. I don’t know what to say more.

This man speaks the truth. He uses the analogy of patches of blue sky and grey clouds to portray happiness and suffering. He could have also used sunlight and cloud where the sun could not have shined through the cloud for you to see things clearly. You're being clouded and you suffer as a result since you cannot see where there is no light. But human beings are conditioned in a way to lead them to think that...that is all there is. They failed to see that there is no such things as darkness because when you shine a light into it, darkness is no more. It is only there due to the absence of light not because it is a complete separate entity that exist along with the light. This is also why human beings think that there is a devil or Satan. But these entities do not exist...they're all created by humans. Every human being can create their own heaven or hell. Have you also noticed that everything in this world are in pair, male female, light darkness, right hand left hand. This is because GOD are two in one as the father is in the son and son is in the father and we have our imprint of both since we're manifested from them. But the father always ruled over the son because the father is LOVE and is manifested into WISDOM. What is manifested does not exist, it is only an appearance. It is only there to serve what is LOVE. But without one or the other, nothing would have existed. They go hand in hand just as the sunlight go hand in hand with its warm and light because the warm of the light correspond to love and the light correspond to wisdom. If you take away its warm, then the light is like the light of the winter...where man can use it to see things but without warmness, he can be coldhearted. And if you take away the light but leave behind the warm, man now not only can't see things, they now cease to exist because they have no hearts. Hence, the heart always rules just as your heart ruled over your lung. If it were not so, why do you think you're still alive when you stop breathing but heart still beating? But dead as soon as the heart stop beating? Because the heart correspond to LOVE and it rules over everything.
