I cut 4 of mine to 18” and eliminated the buckle by using daisy chained amsteel. Still get the ability to switch the steps and offsets so they nestle together nicely against each other. Total length of each is less than 24” with the top step straight up. The outline of the stand is larger than the steps all together so less chance of snagging my sticks if I have to step over or under something and gets me to 18’ with an aider on the bottom stick. I’m definitely going to adopt the swim noodle idea though. 👍

Just be very mindful of those daisy chains. Careful, careful, careful.

I only use 3/8” amsteel so the compromise is still way more than strong enough. Those tiny ropes aren’t for me. 👍

I’m learning from you this type of stand set and hunting. I have a set of xop lm04s coming. My son and I are learning and will be practicing a lot from now until next season here in west Ga.

@ I appreciate it. I have been deer hunting on private and public for 30 plus years. But we have just never tried the loc on stands. My public mobile set has always been a climber and a lot of sits in ladder stands too. I certainly will. I did make me a lineman’s belt with a ropeman 1, have a tree tether and a hss harness that I have been using for years for climbers and ladder stands. When I saw the climbing belt purpose a year or so ago the lightbulb went off. I always assumed somehow the loc ons were hung just hanging onto the tree with one arm and no fall restraint. Just didn’t have any hunting buddies that knew anything about it. All my friends and relatives just use climbers. Thanks again I will definitely let you know.

What about the XOP LMO4 sticks you recently reviewed? I know they had a better stand off and come in a pack of 3. Being that you've handled both sticks hands on, are the Novix that much better?
@SamkoTradBow21 күн бұрын
@ALNTV1541 the xop sticks are a better more solid stick. But heavier. I prefer the novix ones for the lighter weight. But the xop sticks win in every area except weight.
@JunkyardGardener18 күн бұрын
@@SamkoTradBow my Lmo4 came in today. Going to shed some weight and streamline my setup for reason of that added weight! Using your pool noodle design to space the sticks to evenly distribute weight. Great sticks! Especially for a semi permanent setup. Im mobile but I've shed enough weight I can make the 34in work. cut down on time and amount of pieces I gotta pack in the woods 👍

For myself, i really prefer double steps when im hanging the stand. Fortunately the Hawk sticks are double stepped and they fold up. Like you, i prefer the longer ones, so to me they are the best of both worlds. The best part is the price. Camofire runs them on sale on a regular basis for around $100.

Jason I bought a set from opictic planet on sale back a few months ago same deal!! Not package good same thing every thing was there box look like it had been opened and repackaged. I called and they gave me 20.00 dollars off. It's not novix!! I have bought from them and they were picked just like LW was. I think they are blums or returns and novix sells them to discount stores.

I only have the one LW set of 4 for 5 years and bought into a set of “double-minis”. 3 of the 32 inch gets you just as high or higher than 4 minis with less weight and one less buckle to deal with. I may have to watch for another set!
