This is an interesting video Gaz, particularly as you point out in the description that both guys have switched from Taylor Made, to Orka, with Liam at Golmates being the catalyst in getting them to make the decision to go to Orka for a fitting. It just shows how influential you KZbinrs can be, and how important sponsorship deals with influencers are to golf brands.

Lee Whittaker on KZbin was using Orka irons for a while, that’s how I heard of them all the way over here in Australia. I reckon my Wilson Staff C300 Forged irons would give Orka a run for their money on forgivenesses. Or the newer D7 Forged model that replaced the C300. Only forged irons I know of with power holes in the sole to maintain ball speed on low strikes. Wide sole too. Great irons
@garymartingolf3 жыл бұрын
I’ll take a look at them Cameron. You enjoying using them ?
@cameronloveless17513 жыл бұрын
@@garymartingolf yeah, very much Gaz. For me they are a decent looking iron, with a medium-thin top line, not too jacked on the lofts (33* 7 iron), forged feel, slightly wider sole, the urethane filled power holes and a decent looking cavity from behind for bag appeal to boot! The newer D7 Forged are very similar, but 2 degrees stronger (as is increasingly the way these days). Cheers mate

@joeperez35203 жыл бұрын
I was able to try "Golfmates" Liam's RS10 7 Iron on the driving range when he came to the USA in March 2020, just before the COVID shut everything down. I thought the club felt as "soft" as anything I've ever tried. Most Japanese forged irons are triple forged, with three strikes of the forging hammer, while Orka claim that their Japanese-forged irons are "Quad Forged," with one extra strike, resulting in a softer feel.
@garymartingolf3 жыл бұрын
That’s great to know Joe. I didn’t know that. What would something like a T100 be? They claim to be a forged face, but they’re nowhere near as soft as Japanese forged.
@joeperez35203 жыл бұрын
@@garymartingolf Don't know much about Titleist irons other than them being forged in China. Didn't know that only the face of the "T" models are forged. I imagine a minimum of two strikes with the forging hammer, but that may be it. My MP-20 HMBs aren't going anywhere for a while.

I have a question off topic If you have lie angle 2 degrees flat, should it be the same on all the irons or can it be different depending on the irons
@garymartingolf3 жыл бұрын
Brilliant question! Carl, I’ve got to be honest, due to the fitting equipment that most retail shops and custom fitters have, you will tend to be fitted the same lie all through (based on iron lie), maybe 1* flatter on wedges, however, if you went fo a national fitting centre, they’d measure lie with a 5 iron and 9 iron, to consider if you require a combination of lies. Generally speaking from my experience fitting, only the very elite golfers would repeat there swing consistently enough to require this much of an in-depth lie tailoring.
@carlkindred66553 жыл бұрын
@@garymartingolf so if I’m 2 degrees flatter then standard on my 7 iron , I should do the same throughout the set I went flatter because of a noticeable wear pattern on the toe of my 6 iron through to the wedges. Also I’m generally missing left off target

The orka irons do look nice but I'm not sure about some of their claims which appear to me to be a bit too salesy. They claim that their traditional loft irons go further than stronger lofted irons and it's because they're custom built and fitted properly but I can't imagine that every set of irons are built terribly or are fitted poorly. I'd be willing and happy to be proved wrong but I can't see how it's possible unless it's one of those claims that is cherry picked to certain individuals.
@garymartingolf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Rob, that’s what I thought. Dan is adamant he hasn’t lost any distance with them from the p790 which was a very strong lofted iron. My thought was, is this due to shaft length being longer? They’re a lovely looking a head, and are definitely worth trying if you’re looking for something saucy.
