To be fair, $1500 is like pocket money for him anyway. I believe what you saw was the face of satisfaction of not giving them the money, after the whole experience. @Icetea-20004 жыл бұрын

@@Rocker1282 I am pretty sure 2 year warranty is guaranteed by law, you will have one by default. You don't get an extra warranty. The only difference is who will see to whatever issue that you have(the store or manufacturer).
@oplik06 жыл бұрын
@@WetOlde there is a difference between manufacturer's warranty, and the one required by law. The guaranteed one is actually seller's warranty, which can lead different service - so with manufacturers known for good warranty service, go with theirs, but if manufacturer is known to decline repairs, or take a really long time - go with the seller's. The other difference is that the guaranteed warranty covers only flaws that were there when you bought the product (while manufacturer's may sometimes also cover some types of accidental damage). But during the first year, the seller has to prove that it was your fault to decline warranty service. The second year... Well, it switched around. You have to somehow prove that the flaw was there when you bought the product... The big upside of warranty guaranteed by law is that the service can't take too long, and if the seller doesn't respond in time it's considered as confirmation - so if they pretend to not get your warranty claim, you either get your replacement/money back or they break the law :) Fun fact: in Polish these two types of warranty actually have different James which makes it so much easier to talk about them. If you understand Polish that is... And that isn't an easy language to learn :)
@gustru20786 жыл бұрын
@@ZenMuff1n I don't know in what country you live but here's how it works in Canada : The minimum warranty duration for computers is 1 year unless they're used. Some systems have a 2 or 3 years warranty, depending on its quality and the confidence of the company in its product. That being said, if you build a tower with all retail parts, each one of those parts will have a separate warranty that is usually 3 years. RAM is life warranty (Kingston at least), Thermaltake power supplies have a 5 years (at least some of them) while other brands have usually a 3 year warranty. Hard drives often have a 3 year warranty, motherboards too (usually). Be careful about "boutiques" selling you a computer and giving you a 1 year warranty on the whole thing when about all parts in it have a longer warranty. So, if your hard drive or power supply dies for example 1 year and 3 months after purchase, places like that will tell you that it's no longer under warranty and if the customer lets them do the job, they usually return the defective part to make money on the back of the customer. NEVER accept one single warranty for the whole computer when you buy a tower. Ask what the warranties on each parts are. If they can't answer, don't buy or be prepared to have to deal with the manufacturer directly..

I really hope these manufacturers see this video and make some changes to their sales training. The boutique guys are honestly what I would call "PC Guys" - meaning these are technicians/builders who were tasked with doing sales against their will. Best Buy tried this with their "Geek Squad" guys going out to the sales floor and selling systems. Personally, I did not mind doing this because I had a strong background in sales prior to working at Geek Squad, the rest of my crew hated this entire experience and would usually pass their customers to me if I was free. So many good techs would stumble over breaking this stuff down into laymen terms that they would end up getting it wrong in the end, and the consumer suffers as a result. On the other side of the coin: Sales reps are after the sale only, so they only think about pushing a system that meets the check-marks the customer may need but mostly focusing in on the end result which is their commission or their sales goals. I'd say this video had a very even 50/50 split, and then finally the last guy seemed to be like myself: Someone who is both a builder/enthusiast and a sales guy who's more interested in giving the customer a more comfortable experience and the best deal (Sales reps don't care about the cost of the machine, just the sale and add-ons), and hoping that translates to a better report and repeat business.

I bought a Cyberpower one years and years ago now, and I had an issue with it. I remember calling in and getting virtually no help, but the guy gave me his extension beforehand. So after i wasn’t happy, I simply kept guessing more extension numbers and leaving a message to help me resolve the issue. I must have done it to 30 extensions 😝 finally someone called me back, and when I asked if they knew the details of my issue, he said “yeah, I think the whole company knows”. Lol. The company would probably only be dissatisfied if with him if they didn't believe in good service. People often forget, if you treat the customers well, they're very likely to return to you the next time and also very likely to recommend you to their friends.

You are Kind of Right. Depending on the Company strategy. The "old School" one is just selling once for hight Profit, so like the first ones, on the Basis that you will probably never see the customer again. But what maingear did was the more "modern" Approach, which relies on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. So that they buy again, and again, be it because of the support or the Quality. In conclusion: If Maingear tries to keep its customers and sell them stuff more often, he is a good salesman. If not, he missed the sale strategy of his Company.

This kind of sales support really creates a good impression about the company on the minds of the customer. The reason it's so bad is because they follow an issue with the help of a flowchart. Issue not in the flowchart? No chance, straight up. Also from (fill in the blank cause not stating officially). The upper warranty levels have better tech support but the sales department SUCKS and causes us SO MANY headaches. There was a case where someone was sold a DisplayPort to VGA adapter to go FROM a VGA port on the mobo to a DisplayPort monitor. THOSE ADAPTERS DON'T WORK LIKE THAT. THEY ONLY GO ONE WAY. FROM DP. TO VGA.

I do work for a company who has about 10 generations of Dell systems in their offices. Dell will send a tech to replace the parts in all the systems as long as they're under the 3 year basic warranty. However there is no streamlining their phone calls. Every phone call consists of: a) Run diagnostic (30min) b) Update firmware (30min) c) Tinker with the Hyperthreading/Turboboost settings (when the fan is actually already in ePSA failed state) It's reached the point where I do the firmware update and diagnostic before even calling them and just tell them I already did that and give them the diagnostic ePSA code. Shortest phone call to replace something under warranty still ends up being an hour for them to send a tech out. When a tech comes out, I've seen three different guys for Metro Vancouver thus far. They're all fairly competent.

To be fair technology is advancing slower than it has been historically from a performance standpoint. A PC from 1990 would be completely unuseable in 1993. Now a decade old system is still perfectly serviceable for basic tasks.

Caleb M I would disagree. If you take a look from games from 2010 to now, PCs from those times would either barely or not at all run modern games. Currently I believe the people by Skyrim I believe are currently making real time photo realism rendering while in the middle of a game.

I have a almost 6 year old alienware aurora and it is still is good enough for less demanding games. ARK survival evolved plays perfectly fine on pretty good settings. It was also very good for the time so that probably extended its longevity. Dual (2GB) GTX 770 GPU and Intel Core i7-4820K CPU. However, it's starting to have problems getting a signal to my monitor when starting up. It could probably just barely make it another two years.
