And keep in mind, when doing broad statements like "the graded games market is doing good", there will always be segments within that, or examples of games within the "market" that are not doing well and/or are continuing to drop. If you are collecting Sega Genesis specifically, for example, you may not be seeing much, if any, returned strength to the market. Games like Tomb Raider on PS1 still aren't seeing any sign of returned strength as copies continue to sell lower. Just please keep in mind that any specific game or segment of the market may also require it's own deeper analysis into its own performance, but as they say, "a rising tide lifts all boats". Let me know how you feel about graded games in 2024! Also, FEELS GREAT TO BE BACK!

In this auction, I actually bought the Foil cover Zelda Oracle of Ages 85+ Gold. I think it was a solid purchase, considering they don't come up for sale as often.
@atomiswave19714 ай бұрын
I can't believe there are speculators out there really honestly buying this stuff. If you have 100's of 1000's of dollars to spend, buy gold bars. A cracked gold bar is still worth 1000's, you can throw it across the room, burn it, even take a dump on it and its still worth 1000's of dollars. Buy Zelda on the NES and leave it in the window for 2 weeks, its worth $150.

When you say it may not be replicable: agreed. That's what bizarre about the auction system: the next best bidder was ready to shell out a 6-figure but went home empty handed. You would think you could come to the rescue, sell the dude your copy and make everyone happy. Guess what: his rival's gone, and so is his one-man-bubble
@GetTheGreg4 ай бұрын
Agreed fully. Speaking to the 9.2 A Zelda and the 8.0 from earlier this year, I know for a fact the underbidder from the 8.0 wasn't even bidding on the 9.2. So not only do people leave the market after winning (usually), you also have people who may just have their financial situation change from auction to auction. Shawn with reserved investments always touches on it, but that's why you can't just take a single auction result (high or low) and immediately think that's the value of the item.

Solid points and recap. IMO it seems people have been selling off for a while, to buffer their budgets, ever since CGC announces the DFW collection was heading to HA, and a lot of people were looking to bid on some of those games last round as well. And personally, I felt there weren't TOO many insane games, which we have seen in a few previous sigs. So less games, less insane grails, but overall very high grades. I like that it was a little bit less of an extreme sig this time around

@@GetTheGreg to be fair, waiting would have saved you every year since 2021 and more every few months youwaited to purchase. I'd like to see a video of comps on most games. How about that? cib nes, sealed raw and graded. Items out of the sig since some of these are sold a few times a year . I fail to see the point of what you are trying to convey in "graded games" just isn't accurate and looks like politics. Most games they are half or in many cases 3/4ths the price. I have tons of photographed comps and data. Funny how certain games, even Zelda were at 450 raw and are now sub 250 at 9.8 a+ The facts are very few are buying games and if you browse data long enough people are barely watching. It is 100 percent a buyers market right now
@GetTheGreg3 ай бұрын
@Jackie_Fhan I don't think it's exactly groundbreaking analysis to say "games are down since 2021 peaks". If that's your basis, never buy a game again because they only lose value. Hardly anything is at 2021 levels, while many games are actually selling as low as they were 2019/2020, or at least did have sales that low in the past 6-12 months. If you want to continue to wait to buy certain games because you believe they will drop lower, by all means, you do you. Find value where you can. Certain games are absolutely still falling, but by no means is it now "*everything*" is falling. That narrative has been done for awhile now.
