As a former GM Shop Foreman, Warranty admin, and regular guy, if I was the customer I would have been more pissed that I didn't get a new oem seat bottom cushion, and seat cover. The Stealership is shady, I have never worked at one that wouldn't defraud their own customers, General Motors, or their own Mother. I'm willing to bet you still charged GM for the OEM seat cover, made $600 extra, and screwed the poor tech on the warranty time. All the while those "managed expenses" went right into your pocket along with the CSI bonus the tech earned.
@lb9gta3074 жыл бұрын
I call BS on you being a former GM shop forman or warrenty admin because you'd know there would have to be an invoice for the new seat cover for that to work. And what poor tech? Half a mile from the dealership, on the freeway service road, my car passed us doing well in excess of 100 MPH. Apparently, a couple of the techs decided to have a Ferris Bueller afternoon. I took my car to the dealership recently cause the battery was dead and it was still under warranty. They told me it'd be $60 for the battery since I've had it for 3 years. I agreed, figured I'd be in and out in 10 min. One hour later they finally tell me it's ready and now its $105! I ask what the deal is and they point out the labor cost. These cocksuckers charged me $40 to swap the batteries out. $40!!! I overheard them telling another customer that they charge $30 to take a brush and wipe away the corrosion that builds up around the battery terminals.
@old_romans4 жыл бұрын
@@TheCobruhAlienat0r, I sold Auto Parts for 15 years. This was either a long time ago or you got, not a bad deal. Even a new Camry battery will run you $60.00-$150.00 (without labor) today and yeah, 3 years is about when batteries die if it's the kind near the engine, 4-5 if it's inside the trunk or such.. Labor nowadays is like $70.00/h average. I normally buy my parts aftermarket, including batteries, but was forced to buy the lawn mower 12 volt battery for my Prius C from the dealer because it's not the most popular model and they have the monopoly on the part...it was $200.00! I guess I could have replaced the non-standard terminals with standard ones and used a cheaper standard size battery, but buying those parts negates the savings...dealer parts are a trap.

As a dealership tech, i would love to have that man as my service manager. Especially with how badly GM screws techs with warranty labor times. It is nearly impossible to complete most warranty repairs in the time specified by GM's warranty labor times. Hell, most techs at my dealership dont like even doing non-warranty seat repairs, hands get sliced up because the metal on the seat frames is razor sharp. This guy knows how to keep his techs happy. I also would have to imagine that the money the dealership saved on, would be put back into the shop. I know that at least at my dealership, the techs have a genuine commitment to going above and beyond for our customers, but there are just some necessary evils that come with warranty repairs, the techs have to be able to feed their families too. Most techs at my dealership bite the bullet when they get screwed over by warranty labor rates, because performing quality repairs that last is always the top priority, especially in a small town where you live and die by reputation.
@old_romans4 жыл бұрын
I agree he made the right choice by freeing up a tech and paying a specialist(it almost became a mistake), but 533% markup? A tech isn't seeing that money and it costs Tommy .5sq feet of thin GM leather and maybe an hour of his skilled labor. I'm not gonna tell them what to do with their money, but I don't have to donate to that scam if I don't have to. I've met plenty of dealership owners and dealership finance managers and such to know exactly which private schools that extra % is going to.

We looked at it, told her it was going to need a new transmission.. she leaves the car with us, says just go ahead and do it, her friend picks her up and apparently they want up the street to get some lunch. The technician now decides he's going to road test this thing one more time to see if it absolutely needs the transmission. Then for whatever reason he decides to take the customer's car through the drive-through to get himself some lunch at the same restaurant. Of course the woman sees her car that she just okayed $3,500 transmission job driving through the drive-thru!! Customers that don't care about the people trying to serve them, especially when they had nothing to do with their treatment are the absolute worst customers and deserve the least good treatment. I agree, replace the parts that received excess wear but not caring if someone loses their job when it can be as simple as learning their lesson is ridiculous. Respect is a two-way street. I had a customer who said, "I don't care about the dealership, or you, I am not here to serve, I am in it for me, and my best deal." I did my best to shaft him the best I could. The kind sweet understanding people, by all means always got the best deals. Some of those kind people were buying cars for thousands under book. The ass holes, I didn't feel one bit guilty if they were $5k tipped after they left the lot. Because respect is a two-way road, and it takes you a lot farther.

So the moral of the story is to lie to a customer now to calm him down and to prevent yourself from getting into situations where you will need to lie to customers in the future. However, if the customer doesn't notice what happened to his vehicle then no lie is necessary and your local upholsterer can continue to abuse your customers vehicles for his own personal pleasure. My car has never had a single big issue (aside from a part that was recalled) in the 16 years I've owned it. About a month ago I had it inspected, and the very next day it breaks down. Something happened to the gas pedal where it wasn't reving past 1500rpm. Not only did I have to pay to get my car towed back to their shop, but I also had to pay for the new part and installation. Total came to over $400. They had my car for over a week, and they didn't even give me a loaner car to drive in the meantime (they're a dealership, so they have plenty of cars). I don't think it's a coincidence that the car only managed to drive about 3-4 miles before breaking down after literally getting a full inspection at their shop, especially since they had to keep my car overnight for the inspection, which they've never had to do before, and claimed it was because "a lot of people called out". Never going there again for sure. Fuck you, Lawrence Subaru of Hanover.

Unless you’ve got bucket seats, literally every person on the planet slides/rotates across their seats to some extent to get out.

I hate dealership service department, professional crooks... Once was charged for a new battery, yet all they did was tighten the battery bolts. Only way I got a refund was because when I signed the papers and paid, they didn't staple the battery receipt until after I had paid, crooks I tell ya

I worked as a lube tech once for a dealers for a very short period of time. (I actually really liked the job but couldn’t stay) we didn’t have the right tool to remove the filter off of a car so I was just told to leave the filter on just change the oil. Not super terrible but makes me wonder what else I would have seen if I’d stayed longer

So you lied to this customer, and your service tech committed an actual crime with this customer's vehicle... Pretty much answers the video title question. And it's why my cars see the dealer service department for recall work only.

I was thinking the same thing...I guess all the other commenters think it's cute.

@@AfricaGeo Every time. People act like lies and crimes with car salesman and service techs are not only OK but to be expected and cherished and boo the police who investigate or people who find out and sue. Police to them seems to be there only to protect their own cars against vandalism and theft, or to ruin their fun.

@@Peterowsky depending on their actions cops deserve all the support and/or criticism (possibly jail) that comes their way. Just like everyone else I guess... Trouble is that corrupt scumbags will hide behind the thin blue line, and make it exponentially harder for the good ones to do their job safely and effectively.

I wouldn't say that the customer was purposly lied to by this guy or that you can say his service tech commited a crime as it was a completly seperate company
@lb9gta3074 жыл бұрын
If his story is correct as he told it he didn't lie to that customer nor was any of his service techs involved with the vehicle at all. It was an outsourced job and all he did was contact the guy he outsourced the work to for answers.
