Love my '99 standard that I picked up from Guitar Village back in April, it's battered and anything but original but it's so awesome. If I had my pick of a new one though it would be a cherry red '61 reissue but without the sideways vibrola. Either way, they are both awesome guitars you guys have there!

Thats something i want to do actually - although its abit harder as they are randomly found. Try more 90s standards. Perhaps the gap between modern standards and customshop is smaller if you go standards from another era, if that makes any sense lol.

I have a 2014 Standard. Its virtually a 61 without the vibrato. I play it everyday and it's still my main guitar. SH SGs are fabulous value.

Yeh wish they kept them that way on the standards haha

Beautiful SGs. I love my Gibson SG, as you know. I find they are a great simple, quality made guitar which may be why they are so good. Timeless design that hasn't changed, cos it doesn't need to. Took me a long time to 'discover' SGs but might even say they are my fave instrument now. A benefit of them being so good quality is that they are a good find second hand too. You know within seconds of playing it if you like it. Oh, keep the burst buckers. I have them in a Les Paul and they are great. Too much hate online for them, they are brilliant. ✌️

I got mine used too unreal value. I dont hate the burstbuckers by any means. Im just more used to the custombuckers/antiquities so makes me 50/50 on them haha.

They both sound pretty epic, think I would be tempted to try a pair of 490's in the red one though. Have you ever tried the SGJ the neck is pushed slightly further in to the body almost feels 'normal' but I don't know if it has the same strength there because of the bit of wood that has been removed. Great vid love an SG,now I want one with P 90's though.

I actually have not tried one of those. Interesting i wonder if it moves the neck pickup further towards the bridge (which i wouldnt like as thats why i dont like 24 fret guitars as a rule). Yeh the 490s could be a shout. Im still totally 50/50 on the pups. I dont want to make the mistake of making it sound closer to my other humbucker guitar, easy trap to fall into when you found something that works haha

Cool video guys. Don't know how I missed it on release. I got the 61' love it, I got the Iommi Monkey and it was disappointing. I'm after a single p90 junior, struggling to find a lefty. I might need to go to Maybach for an albatroz or maybe Gordon Smith. Love the channel Paul. 👍

Hey man! Yeh id quite fancy trying a Maybach. Just abit annoying it seems the first thing to do on them is slap in a 50s loom. I feel at the price point it shouldnt really need it.
