Salaamun alaikum bro/sis. The Muslims would not have been divided and in disagreement had it not been for the Companions, for every disagreement that has been created in the past, or is being created at the present time is due to their disagreement about the Companions. There is one God, one Qur'an, one Messenger and one Qiblah, and they all agree on that, but the disagreement among the Companions started on the first day after the death of the Messenger (saw), in the Saqifah (house) of Bani Saidah, and has continued up to the present day, and will continue for as long as Allah wills it. The main problem with all that was the Companions themselves, for they disagreed about the wish of the Messenger of Allah (saw) to write them a document which would help them to remain on the right path until the Day of Judgment. This disagreement deprived the Islamic nation of a unique virtue, and has thrown it into darkness until it was divided and plagued with internal quarrels and finally ended up as a spent force. It was they who disagreed on the issue of the Caliphate (the successorship of the Prophet), and were divided between a ruling and an opposing party, thus dividing the nation into the followers of ‘Ali and the followers of Muawiyah. It was they who differed in the interpretations of the Book of Allah and the sayings of His Messenger, which led to the creation of the various creeds, groups and subgroups; and from them came many scholars of scholastic theology and schools of thoughts and philosophies inspired by political ambitions with one aim in mind and that was to obtain power. Through my discussions with the Shiite scholars, I discovered that, in their views, the Companions were divided into three categories: The first category included the good Companions who knew Allah and His Messenger truly well, and they acclaimed him (the Messenger) to the last moments of their lives. They were truly his friends by words and deeds, and they never abandoned him, but rather stood their ground with him. Allah - the most High - praised them in many places in His Holy Book, and the Messenger of Allah (saw) also praised them in many places. This group of Companions are mentioned by the Shi’a with reverence and respect, they are also mentioned by the Sunnis with the same reverence and respect. The second category were the Companions who embraced Islam and followed the Messenger of Allah (saw) either through choice or through fear, and they always showed their gratitude to the Messenger of Allah (saw) for their Islam. However, they hurt the Messenger of Allah (saw) on a few occasions, and did not always follow his orders, in fact they often challenged him and challenged the clear text with their points of view, until Allah, through the Holy Qur'an, had to intervene by rebuking them or threatening them. Allah exposed them in many Qur'anic verses, also the Messenger of Allah (saw) warned them in many of his sayings. The Shi’a mention this group of Companions only because of their deeds, and without respect or reverence. The third type of Companions were the hypocrites who accompanied the Messenger of Allah (saw) to deceive him. They pretended to be Muslims but inside themselves they were bent on blasphemy and on deceiving Islam and the Muslims as a whole. Allah has revealed a complete Surah in the Qur'an about them, and mentioned them in many other places, and promised them the lowest level in Hell. Also the Messenger of Allah (saw) mentioned them and issued warnings about them, and even informed some of his close friends about their names and characteristics. The Shi’a and the Sunnis agree in cursing this group of Companions and have nothing to do with them. There was a special group of Companions who distinguished themselves from the others by being relatives of the Prophet (saw), in addition to having possessed ethical and spiritual virtues and personal distinctions from Allah and His Messenger that no one else was honored with. These were Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet's Family) whom Allah cleansed and purified, and ordered us to pray for them in the same way as he ordered us to pray for His Messenger. He made it obligatory for us to pay them one fifth of our income, and that every Muslim must love them as a reward for the Muhammadan Message. They are our leaders and we must obey them; and they are people firmly rooted in knowledge who know the interpretation of the Holy Qur'an and they know the decisive verses of it, as well as those verses which are allegorical. They are the people of al-Dhikr whom the Messenger of Allah equated with the Holy Qur'an in his saying "the two weighty things" (al-Thaqalayn), and ordered us to adhere to them1, He equated them to Noah's Ark: whoever joined it was saved, and whoever left it drowned2. The Companions knew the position of Ahl al-Bayt and revered them and respected them. The Shi’a follow them and put them above any of the Companions, and to support that they have many clear texts as proofs. The Sunnis respect and revere the Companions but do not accept the above classification and do not believe that some of the Companions were hypocrites; rather, they see the Companions as being the best people after the Messenger of Allah. If they classify the Companions then it would be according to their seniority and their merits and their services to Islam. They put the Rightly Guided Caliphs in the first class, then the first six of the ten who were promised with heaven, according to them. Therefore when they pray for the Prophet (saw) and his household they attach with them all the Companions without exception. This is what I know from the Sunni scholars, and that is what I heard from the Shi’i scholars regarding the classification of the Companions; and that is what made me start my detailed study with the issue of the Companions. I promised my God - if He led me on the right path - to rid myself from emotional bias and to be neutral and objective and to listen to what the two sides said, then to follow what was best, basing my conclusions on two premises: 1. A sound and a logical premise: that is to say that I would only depend upon what everybody is in agreement with, regarding the commentary on the Book of Allah, and the correct parts of the honorable Sunnah of the Prophet. 2. The mind: for it is the greatest gift that Allah has given to human beings, and through it He honored them and distinguished them from the rest of creation. Thus, when Allah protests about what His worshippers do, He asks them to use their minds in the best possible way, and He says: Do they not understand? Do they not comprehend? Do they not see? etc." Let my Islam primarily be the belief in Allah, His angels, His Books and His messengers; and that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger; and that the Religion of Allah is Islam; and that I will never depend on any of the Companions, regardless of his relation to the Messenger or his position, for I am neither Umayyad nor Abbasid nor Fatimid, and I am neither Sunni nor Shi’i, and I have no enmity towards Abu Bakr or Umar or Uthman or ‘Ali or even Wahshi, the killer of our master al-Hamzah, as long as he became a Muslim, and the Messenger of Allah forgave him. Since I had forced myself into this study in order to reach the truth, and since I had rid myself, sincerely, from all my previous beliefs, I decided to start, with the blessing of Allah, by considering the attitudes of the Companions. @Mr Zift Hello, I am a Shiite. First, God has cursed many people in the Qur'an. So cursing is not forbidden. By the way, there is no verse to say that all the companions were good people. There is also no narration about this. I challenge: Mention a verse from the Qur'an or a narration from the Prophet or a narration from the Companions or a narration from the followers, who said that الصحابة كلهم عدول (all the Companions are just). Many companions were cursed by Rasul Allah s.a.w . Omar used to raise his voice above Rasul Allah's s.a,w until an ayat was revealed. Abu Horeira cheated with ahadiths. Even wives of Rasul Allah have been warned in the Quran !! Muslims refer to ahadiths , how comes no sahabi ever recorded a single one? Ali r.a gave an oath of allegiance to Abu Bakr and Omar and this says it all. Some of the Shia go around the Kaaba and call the name of Hassan and Hussain r.a. and make dua to them. Running in kerbala and harming yourself. This is forbidden, as God says: You shall not kill yourselves. (4:29) He also says: Do not expose yourselves to ruin. (2:195) The Prophet said: "There shall be no inflicting of harm on oneself". Similarly, it is not permissible to a Muslim to expose himself to the risk of illness or injury in any way or form. The Prophet said: "No believer may humiliate himself". When he was asked how any person would humiliate himself, he said: "By exposing himself to risks with which he cannot cope"5. A man runs the risk of illness or injury if he leaves himself exposed to their causes, or by not taking the necessary precautions to prevent them, or by not taking proper care of his health. Islam has given us the necessary directives to steer away from all such risks, making it a duty of every Muslim. It is a known fact that many Shia followers cry and misguide a lot of people about ghadeer khum.

Firstly Umar the man you just quoted innovated the phrase assalatu khairan minan nar which means prayer is better than sleep something like that. They omitted the phrase Haya ala kharil amal Many sahabah said it until it was removed by Umar. Hadith - 2 Imam Bukhari (RU) has quoted this Hadith from Abdullah Ibn Umar (RU) that Prophet (SAWS) once prayed for Syria and Yemen. It is narrated that there were some people of Najd also present in the gathering and they requested the Prophet (SAWS) to make supplication (du'a) for Najd also. Prophet (SAWS) continued saying: ‘O! Allah, Shower Blessings on Syria and Yemen’. The people of Najd again requested the Prophet (SAWS) to offer prayers for Najd. The hadith is narrated in Sahih Muslim: Aisha says: one day, the Prophet (s) came, with a kisa' (cloak), woven from black wool, on his shoulder. First, al-Hasan (a) came and the Prophet (s) covered him with the kisa', then al-Husayn (a) came, he covered him with the kisa', then Fatima (a) came and went under the Kisa', and then Ali (a) came and the Prophet (s) covered him with the others with the kisa' and said: "Indeed Allah desires to repel all impurity from only you, O Ahl al-Bayt, and purify you with a thorough purification."[12] Ibn Hajar in al-Sawa'iq al-muhriqa: it is narrated with authentic chain of transmission that the Prophet (s) covered the four with a kisa' and said: "O Allah! These are my Ahl al-Bayt and special people to me, so repel all impurity from them and purify them with a thorough purification.".[13] Ibn Athir in Usd al-ghaba[14] and Ahmad b. Hanbal in his Musnad[15] have narrated the hadith. Let's say for argument sake that the Shia did reject CERTAIN sahaabah does that make them a non Muslim where does it say there has to be belief and recognition to the sahaabah to be a Muslim. I thought the main pillar was thoheed. I'm a Shia and that's what my faith teaches me, first and foremost is thoheed so what is this sheik talking about. The sahaabah dont come before the truth and neither do my parents or me. And some particular sahaabah like Abu barker in his first term of his caliphate waged war against a group of people due to them not paying zakat but these people were paying zakat under the terms and conditions of the prophet so therefore when Abu baker tried to change the ruling of them paying zakat it shows us he didn't uphold the true teachings of the prophet and went astray and no one can change the rulings of the prophet so on that note we do not see him to be credible and reliable as a source of someone to take hadeeth from and his actions were not of a good character and person. There are too many events recored in Sunni books about three particular sahaabahs such as Abu baker umar and uthman. Which are recored extensively in Sunni books. We do not see these individuals as being pious or adhering to the laws and commands of Allah azah WA jal and there is no evidence in any shape or form to say if someone does not take these people in accordance with thoheed it will make them a kafir so it's all hate and personal preferences being expressed by shieks like this.

the word Shia might sound confusing, But the implication is that the people who followed Imam Ali RA during first Fitna period among muslim community. it is only a word to describe which side muslims took at that time. Shia means follower, supporter in arabic, so I assume it would be privilege for all muslims to obey Ali RA. that is too important, we see in hadiths that such Fitna will happen once again in the end time. and Imam al Mahdi AS will be the Imam of believers. But if you are a shia it shows what side you are taking in terms of political Islam. Shia is more about politics rather than theology. People who followed Ali AS during first Fitna period are the original Shias. not all muslims followed Ali AS at that time, there were many others who fought against Ali AS. Alhamdulillah, I deeply thank Allah for giving us Sheikh Muhammad Salah and make him answer this specific question. I was reading on the khulafa al rashidin and came across the war that mother Ayesha wanted to go on. I went on a little research on it and bumped onto the shia site condeming our mother. I could not go on hearing it was shivering to my bones for the sins my ears was doing. Mother Ayesha is one of the mothers i wanted to meet and hug in Janna. THE WHOLE NIGHT I BROKE INTO COLD SWEAT. i was so troubled in my mind how could someone explicitly believe in Allah and Rasool and condemn our mother. Until i got up and told myself they are shia they are not sunni we are not in the same fold. DR yassir qadhi is correct i shdnt have search for the war even after listening ti the seerah about sahaba lives. I pacified my heart. Restless as if thorn pricked my eyes i search hopefully for a good consolation in Ask Huda. Sheikh Muhammad Salah 's explanations are so precise clear and served great peace to my restless heart. They believe God chose Ali to be Muhammad's successor, infallible, the first caliph (khalifa, head of state) of Islam. Muhammad, before his death, designated Ali as his successor. He only gained popularity in Najd (a region of the Arabian Peninsula) due to the ideas of Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab, the founder of Wahabism. The Hanbali madhhab spread in Najd primarily due to the teachings of Ahmad ibn ‘Abd al-Halim al-Dimishqi ibn Taymiyyah (661H-728H) and his student ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyya. History tells that the school of Ahlul Bayt suffered extreme oppression, tyranny, and discrimination at the hands of the Umayyad and ‘Abbasid caliphs. But in spite of oppression, by the divine will of Allah, the school of the Ahlul Bayt reached a climax during the caliphate of al-Ma‘mun, and Shi‘ism reached so far into the governmental dignitaries that al-Ma‘mun himself was forced to show deep sympathy towards the ‘Alawiyiin, the descendants of Imam ‘Ali, and to show an inclination towards Shi‘ism, to the point that he invited Imam ‘Ali ibn Musa al-Rida, the eighth Imam of the Ahlul Bayt to be his successor-a position which Imam al-Rida declined..

I understand the point of the topic, I understand where the Sheikh would get his understanding of shias from. There are a lot of shias in the world that ruin it for the rest of us (yes I am shia and proud) often time they curse the companions of the prophet and no not every shia thinks its right its not our school of thought to curse others especially the companions of the prophet it also bring fitnah which is wrong. We believe that Imam Ali is the first caliphat and not Abu Bakr that's the main difference between sunni and us, we respect the family of Prophet Muhammed just as much as we respect the Prophet himself and if the "haters" of shiaism looked at our books without any biased views they would see we are following the sunnah of the prophet but in our own way we have dissected the hadiths of the Prophet and his life and have taken his examples and followed them to a tee. I respect Sunnis, Sufis, Shia, Salafi, Christian, Jew, Buddhist etc. as long as you are respectful to my faith and beliefs as I am to yours, this is truly the example of Prophet Muhammed, not what every one is displaying on here! cussing each other out, arguing, disrespecting one anothers view point on things, its wrong that's not the Sunnah of the Prophet and these videos and topics are addressed to open our minds and learn the view points of Sunnis on Shia and to be honest I am not offended at all because there are shias that do exsist that make us look horrible and that's life, im sure there are sunnis that make sunnis look horrible and deface their version of Islam. Beware of newly invented matters [in the religion], for verily every bidah (innovation) is misguidance.” [Abu Dawud] It was related by at-Tirmidhi, who said that it was a good and sound hadeeth.

A believer (Muslim) is who believes in Allah as one and only and Believing prophet Muhammad (SA) as the last prophet (no mention as companion which means people who met prophet whom many later fought and killed one and another). A sheikh who whether doesn't know (hopefully) or lies that Shia believe Emams are higher than the Prophet (SA). You Say Ali ibn Abi Taleb and Aisha both were right. They fought eachother in a war; how could both have been right? (BTW prophet had made it Haram for a woman to attend war..).

Shias modified Adnan, Prayers (3 times instead of five) and they don’t practice any Sunnah of Rasool SM. It’s simple, hang all the ayatollahs to stop further divisions and revert back all Shias to mainstream of Islam. InsaAllah, all will go Jannah.

I know you are shia so let me ask you some questions: -Do shia's not belief that ali (ra) was an ''infalliable'' imam and that his sons were infalliable aswell? (meaning shia's think that there are certain humans which do not ever make mistakes) If so then this is shirk, because allah swt alone posseses these attributes. -Why is it that shia's have innovated prayer and adhan (the part about ali is the friend of allah)? Bringing innovation to islam is a major sin and will be punnished severely. It makes shia muslims an apostate sect for believing ali should be included in the adhan. Shia's indeed worship ali and not allah swt. Also praying on a round stone is haram because it is an innovation. -Why do shias worship dead people and why do they pray to death people and shrines? It is haram to pray to anyone instead of allah, however it is allowed to pray FOR someone and ask allah to forgive him. This is not what shiites do. Shiites pray TO dead ''infalliable'' imams and they ask THEM for forgiveness instead of allah swt. This is again a major sinn, as it is shirk! I could go on and on about wrong things that shia ''muslims'' do. The point is that shiism is a sect which is created because of two points: 1) ignorance about islam: this resulted in them doing a lot of haram things such as bringing innovations to islam. 2) old pagan beliefs which were not eradicated when persians converted to islam: These include the belief that a leader should come from heritage (this is why shia's belief only ali had the right to be caliph, which is not true.

@throw away so if I go with your weak interpretation then the leader should be from the progeny of the prophet sww, 1- not necessarily a blood line but the first 3 caliphs weren't from the prophets sww tribe??So if going with that interpretation of yours,it's one of the possibility that Imam zaman a.j may be the son of abu jahl and abu lahab who are from the prophets sww tribe?? Which is also not logical and true. If your muftis will acknowledge that the 12 th Imam a.j will be from prophet's sww bloodline then they must acknowledge the previous 11 leaders and this will result in disaster as they will become Shi'a. I'm sorry but the narration he mentions are contradicted by narrations in Sahih Muslim: 'A'isha reported: Never did I feel jealous of the wives of Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) but in case of Khadija, although I did no, (have the privilege to) see her. She further added that whenever Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) slaughtered a sheep, he said: Send it to the companions of Khadija I annoyed him one day and said: (It is) Khadija only who always prevails upon your mind. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Her love had been nurtured in my heart by Allah Himself. Sahih Muslim 31:5972
