I did a vid about the NEX 5r a few weeks ago. I shot a several films and would vlog with the F3. I used the 5n as a B-cam to the F3. I use the 5r now for social media and the 5r still works with the Imaging app. I forgot the 7 had a mic jack. I might look into the 7.

Very good information in this video. The only thing I would question is why you recommend the NEX-5N and not the NEX-5T? The 5T brings to the table superior video capabilities (1080/60p versus 1080/60i), as well as Wi-Fi and NFC capabilities.

Hi, and thanks for your work here on yt! I recently got a nex 3 for 44,- Euro (I think that's about 50 bucks) in good condition. It's for unhurried shooting with my old manual lenses from analog times. The results are really great, at least from the technical point of view ;-) . Focus peaking, the brillant display and a quite good low light performance make things easier. :-)

Tbh, I was quite impressed with the stabilization of the NEX-7. Not a fan of the lowlight performance, but the video quality is allright for hobby use.

Id recommend a Sigma 16mm 1.4 and you will get great indoor video and its a fantastic wide angle lens!

My first camera is a sony NEX 5R I got for 80 euro last year... I'm going to switch to a Canon EOS M for it's Video Features with Magic Lantern, since it's more flexible, that said sony it's not bad at all it's just lacking flexibility for video shooting. For now I'll go with canon but I love sony nonetheless I'll hop back into sony in the future when I have money for a A7S or something like that

Hi, Thanks for the video. I guess it all depends on where one is coming from in regards to what one recommends in the NEX line up. I come to it as a frequent tourist who takes lots of pictures when travelling to interesting locations, with either my wife or me in the picture (what's the point of travelling thousands of miles to take pictures of sites without being in them?). And half the time, the sun is behind the person who's picture is being taken in front of the fabulous or famous site. This results in a highly shadowed person and a lousy photo. Fill-Flash is required for a satisfactory photo in such circumstances. Thus, in that situation, the NEX 3 and NEX 5 models are only going to be useful if one carries around the little external flash unit which, while it works, is a nuisance if one is constantly taking the camera in and out of one's walking around bag (i.e. in my case, what Americans call a fanny pack) To my mind, the NEX F3 solves this problem by having the same convenient in-built flash as the NEX 6 and NEX 7. I bought two NEX F3s very inexpensively - one with the 16-50mm OSS lens, which makes it a fairly compact unit. And its video recording specifications are the same as that of the NEX 5N, which you like. However, I just bought a NEX 3 for A$56 (US$43) including postage. I intend keeping it in the trunk of my car with a spare battery and flash, for those times I want a decent inexpensive camera handy. Thanks for the enthusiasm you have shared about this camera series. Regards.

You forgot the 2011 Nex-7 geared at semi pros, is easy to use as well a pleasure to use due to its Tri Nav Dial System ( aperture, shutter speed, and ISO ) disliked by those who need to change the mode consistently as it has to be accessed in the menu I set my mode and leave it.
