This reminds me of a video I saw of a woman in Nigeria. She had multiple kids with her husband, and people asked why she had so many children. She said because if I don't, my husband will leave me. She was under a broken tent with the kids selling good to make daily living. She then said that sometimes the kids would go to bed hungry. Why would she do?

Everything in life is transactional whether you like it or not. The friends you have give you joy, so you give them joy. You stick with your job that you might not like and continue to do the work because in exchange, you get paid. You give respect to get respect. You give love to receive love back. In relationships, it’s the same. There’s nothing wrong with that. Including the transaction of emotional value as well as financial value.
