I keep one in my vehicle, and usually have a kayak on the roof of my Jeep or bed of my truck. It works great with the kayak! I have a 5.5’ length rod, and I find the short length works well in my local lake and makes it more manageable when I hook one on the kayak.

You can buy telescopic rods with floating line guides. Have a look at the Kastking blackhawk 2.

Here in the UK there is a bit of stigma attached to using telescopic rods as you are not seen as a serious angler. However, I have pretty much exclusively used medium price telescopic rods of 10ft and 12ft for freshwater sinker and float fishing. The reasons I use them is the ease of transportation both on and off the bank and the fact that if you pre-rig them you are able to setup to fish in seconds. I would strongly recommend telescopic rods if one avoids the really cheap ones the rod action is plenty good enough. I have caught many carp to 20lbs using mine.

I do a lot of back country camping, both hiking and canoeing.. I like my telescopic rod..these are perfect to strap to the side of my backpack.. as you said. I wouldn't normally use it if I know I'm going out in the boat tho.. but great vid.. don't recall anyone else doing a vid on these rods.. keep 'em coming!

I'm not saying don't use them. Some are of good quality. The concern is at the tip were there are usually extra line guidelines. You just need to be a little extra careful with a telescopic. Thanks for dropping by ☺️

I use telescopic rods all time. These rods fall into the u get what you pay for! I use diawas triple b rods. They work just like a one piece rod, they feel great and light. That being said there’s a price tag for these rods. They have Fuji guides and great blank technology. No issues what so ever. Bass pro also makes the adventuri 1 series of telescopic rods which are a lot cheaper and seem to work good but not made like the tripleb rods.

@@fishingtalesandotherlies Not only the review on telescopic rod informed me, but also when you mentioned to use or rely on the "DRAG" of the reel, so after watching your video, I searched for that and I actually learned another thing about my reel! I been wanting to search what that knob is for, I thought it's for securing the bearings, LOL.

I have 2 telerods. 1 shimano, 1 Jarvis Walker. The JW has a broken end tip/shaft. Any "tips" to repair it? I live near The Entrance Central Coast NSW Australia, I can fish all year round. Being in a wheelchair the telerods are very compact to get around with. Thanks for a great easy to follow video!

Just an idea here.....why not have a guide or eyelet you could clamp to the blank{between the first and second one} after the rod has been extended,then before collapsing unclamp that extra eyelet ,i think that would solve the dilemma ...no?
@fishingtalesandotherlies3 жыл бұрын
You can get telescopic rods that have floating line guidelines at the tip. It wouldn't be too difficult to fashion one. Great idea 🙂

I have no idea on how to fish, so I am watching a lot of videos to get myself informed, which is why I liked your video so much! I have seen a few videos on people using the "pen rod", usually from China, (the better one seems to be with the spinning reel) and the fly one has a longer rod, with more sections, could you give it a thought of maybe a review in the future? I am believing that if you use the longer rod with the spinning reel (they are pen rods so iirc they are all attached the same way like a normal spin reel) it could be a decent combination! But I actually have a question that since I don't know much, might sound absurd. You mentioned that the distance between the guides, being longer since it's telescopic and needs to retract is longer, meaning there is more stress to the line. What if, only for usage during fishing, you could find a way to firmly attach more guides near the end of the rod, and after fishing, remove them so you can slide it back? Thank you!!
@fishingtalesandotherlies3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. There are telescopic rod that have just as you said a sliding guide for the line. I actually have one and they work great.

@@fishingtalesandotherlies Sorry, I just remembered another doubt! I have seen some kits in my country (Brazil) being sold with a line that is usually stronger than the reel's drag. So I am wondering how should one use it in order to not damage the gear. I think it's like what you said related to the telescopic rod? You don't use max drag all the time, I think, but is it normal to change drag during a fish fight? Is it really normal to use lines stronger? I know that lighter reels can eventually catch bigger fish, but I'm not sure how that should be paired with rod and line, a stronger rod and line, but not use max drag to not damage reel? Sorry for another question, it's that I have really little to no knowledge in this, but I've developed this interest and my wife and her parents actually like to fish a lot at ponds. Thanks!
@fishingtalesandotherlies3 жыл бұрын
The reel should have info on it about the min and max line weight. Use those as your guide lines. Larger reels are for heavier lines. Heavier lines are thicker in diameter. Line strength is measured by test weight. I have several videos on the subject.

I'm planning on getting one of these, do you have any recommendations? I'd prefer a quality telescopic rod, my local fishing store has one in stock, a Quantum, and it's $40, and that price has me sort of skeptical in regards to what I'm actually buying. I want to get what I pay for, and for that I'm willing to pay. I don't want to waste $40 to be utterly disappointed, if you know what I mean..
