Are the Brooks Ghost Max Worth the Hype? An Average Runner's View

I love my Ghost Max. They are like walking on clouds. They are my go to for my long runs. Especially someone with a high arch.

I have enjoyed running in and will definitely reach for it. The superficial thing about it too… I love the colour, I don’t many this colour so it works on many levels. I’m just glad Brooks has given us a max stack shoe

From what I've gathered so far, faster male runners seem disappointed in it, and slower and/or us lighter-weight female runners seem to love it ... certainly it's one of the shoes I got most excited about this year!! I figured it would be right up your alley Aubrey, as a fellow cush lover. What's important to me though is that the cush doesn't start sapping my energy once I get over 20km or so, especially if I'm tired as unfortunately I noticed with the Nimbus 25 for example. Yes, I moved my nimbus to short, easy run, and the ghost Max to easyand moderate long runs.

Yeah the Nimbus is indeed still lovely for short easy runs, but I don't do many of those any more, I'm really working on ultras!

Hi Bev… you’re spot on! The shoe is great if you’re looking for an alternative to the ghost 15s because of the lack of comfort. The more elite or faster runners will prefer an alternative shoe. I think this is a good shoe for an average runner looking for that elusive ghost cushioning. You will see these take over Park Runs. Also… thank you for all your support this year Ben… always a joy having you on board!

Mine came today. The fit is perfect and the midsole is absolutely brilliant. Perfect combination of soft but supportive. Only thing I wish they did that you mentioned was add a damn GUSSET lol. I compared them side by side with the new glycerine 21 and the 👻 was much softer with a better rocker.

I think you’re right… for me… it works. For me, it’s finally running in a Brooks shoe with comfort. I can’t use the normal ghost so this is exactly what we needed.

I’ve always had glycerine but this year I swapped to the ghost max, and this might be a conincidence but I’ve developed tendinitis in one of my ankles. The ghost max has a lower drop than the glycerine, like I said it might not be an issue but I am going to swap back to glycerine and see if it’s any better for me.

I'm bit heavier and I bought 1080v13 and I regret it. In the beginning it was fine but 7 days in I feel like it's too soft....i also use them only to walk in and stand, Im no runner. I'm looking into hoka bondi 8 or clifton maybe, but nimbus and kayano 31 looking good, I'm torn also xd

i have used NB More V4 and it caused my left foot arch to get friction blisters. but i like cushioned shoe so I ordered these, should i return them? will this cause same issue? shoes with a tall arch support causes issues on my left foot arch as its slightly collapsed arch while right is fine. ?

Hard to advise you because these things are personal. The more v4 was my favourite max cushion shoe at some point too

Stay away for max stack shoes for walking so maybe look up on cloud flow, ride 17. I will slightly contradict myself but I love walking in my Nike Invincible 3

I have an average width foot so i can’t completely say it’s wide. I wear a 9.5uk and it’s true to size and offers me the support I need but it’s not a support shoe as such. It’s a neutral that’s well supported
