I arrived at the same conclusion. The Skyward X is just so EXCITING to run in. It makes me look forward to putting the mileage in. Right after I ran in one, I ordered a second Skyward X. No offense to Hoka, but I don't exactly trust them not messing this up in the future with an X2.

Skyward X is the shoe of the year for me. Such a great and fun shoe. Only downside has been the upper lacks breathability, so in the summer months my feet are very hot.

Interesting and entertaining comparison, that’s what the people wanted. I honestly don’t see those shoes as comparable. I just can’t do Hoka anymore. I gave them two tries and the EVA blends they were purchasing were subpar after 100 or so miles and they were so late to getting in the PEBA game, why I do not know. Again, outstanding video.

Wish I could buy both but had to choose one. Chose the MagMax because it didn’t have a carbon plate, it was cheaper, loved the fit and feel BUT I’m using it for walking! Totally get why you chose it for running! ⚡️Great vid! 💪

I have both and love both. Have the Skyward X in the grey/white colorway which looks a lot better - for me - than this first toothpaste colorway. Haha. They are both great max-stack shoes but the feel and ride are very different. The Skyward X is peppier and feels more like a good daily trainer that's also good for long runs but a little clunkier. The MagMax Nitro is a little softer with little more of a fun bounce that I prefer for easy long runs with the ability to pick up the pace a bit when I want to. Both can do what the other does, but the Skyward X feels a little more versatile for everyday use while the MagMax is better for the dedicated long run. That's my take. If you can afford it, just get both as they can be complementary. If one or the other, Skyward X for versatility and MagMax for easy long.

I bought Mad Max based on your first review - despite this comparison I am happy. I dont want plates in everything and my experience with Puma Forever run has been fantastic. For my easy long runs i have preferred the Forever to my super shoes. I want the mag max for recovery switch off runs.

Is the Puma MagMax Nitro the unplated shoes that could rival the Nike Invincible Run 3 in speed and bounce ? My Invincible 3 shoes are getting old and I'm in doubt about getting another pair or not. In terms of max cushioning shoes that have a lot of bounce that can almost rival the Invincible 3 are my Wave Sky 8. But the zoomx foam is still more bouncy . I love this category of super comfortable cushioning shoes that are also able to be very quick. Thanks.

Great honest review bro. Im 55 and have done alot of running in the last year in several training shoes. Got the skyward x 4 weeks ago and done 230km in them. They are my only training shoes now and hands down the most cushioned and protective shoes I've had.......much better than the superblast and I had 2 pairs of superblasts and they was also great training shoes.
