Are the Colossadon Hunters Any Good in Patch 5.1? - Lizardmen RoR Unit Focus

And yes I'm keeping an eye toward Patch 5.2 tomorrow but I'll have to go over all the notes. In the meantime this has always been an interesting and strong unit, and a great candidate for Revivification Crystal support. Tear your monstrous enemies apart!

The Off to Battle unit focus format uses combat demonstrations from Skirmish vs. AI, background music and voice commentary, including:

This is such an amazing unit- it will delete enemy Lords and Large Monsters, if they can be isolated. Nobody is coming back from a Mauling that these guys give you with Toad Rage active. I wonder if they can take down the Shredder of Lustria one on one.Their stats are so good that they can do a very good job of taking out infantry with Toad Rage active. You just have to make sure that your target is not screened by another unit, otherwise they will get taken out quickly.

Yeah, when the Steam Tanks in my demo helped each other they took a beating, but aside from really bad luck or bad play, they're an elite weapon to fling at the foe.

Ya'know, ripperdactyls have never really been my thing. I find horned ones are able to do everything the rippers do, but also survive while they're at it. The colossadon hunters however, hooooly shit. I thought they were just an okay anti cavalry unit until i saw them shred through Azhag, the slaughterer like he was made out of wet tissue paper! Ever since then, i've seen these guys as more of a secret weapon when the enemy thinks they can exist in the sky without my permission.

Another advantage of flying anti-large, is they're absolutely great at taking out cavalry units as well, since they get their charge out while denying the opponent's. There was this video not long ago of a guy trying the Skullcrushers of Khorne into 1v1 against Bretonnia's top cavalry units, and they beat the Grail Knights, won against the royal pegasus knights but these fared much better than you would expect them to, and then the Hippogryphs knights absolutely savaged them, total disrespect

Had these guys unbuffed by technology or lord skills 1v1 a level 40 Rakarth. I had panicked real hard half way through the battle because I realized I forgotten about them and went to check on them only to find they chased Rakarth to the edge of the map with him bloodied with a sliver of health remaining. These guys are scary.

similar thing happened to me a while ago, I panic recruited them in a multiplayer campaign and just sent them to fight to fight some dragons or something like that while micro-ing the rest of the army. After a while a friend who was spectating was like "dude these Ripperdactyls are just murdering the dragons wtf"

It's not as if the regular ones are bad at that job either, but the extra 'bite' against large really adds up in the fight places.

It's called the Ripperdactyl Rider ^^ I mean seriously, they barely even need the bonus vs. large, it's nice, but they can do much of the same job without it. A little help and you're golden.

For Tomb Kings in TWW2, just as I was Tehenhauin experimenting for Lizardmen, and Morathi for DE, I was using Khalida, so I've used the Great Bow a lot. Flat-out murder-statues.

The Collosodons are one of the single best units in the Lizardmen army. ...iiiiiin Multiplayer. Many of my comments against Ripperdactyls otherwise apply to these. A unit that can consistently trade its life for one enemy unit is abysmal in campaign, but incredible in Multiplayer. The Collosodons being able to eat Malekith or even Skarbrand or something alive is never not cool, but this unit can struggle to really come into its own in a campaign setting, where kamikaze-ing into the biggest, most expensive piece of the enemy army just isn't a valuable thing. It's not like they're unusable or anything, and they can be a bandaid to a Lizardmen army that otherwise has no real way to deal with large single entities, but they're never going to be the superstars they are in Multiplayer.

The AI changes CA teased for 5.2 may make this a little more useful. Time will tell.

In multiplayer If you use the CH and Tiktaq’to they DELETE any large sized lord, hero, or monster! I like to pair them with ROR Sacres Krox, Reviv Crystal, Salamanders, and red crest skinks!

I gleaned what I could from GB of Grudges' video while doing more work this afternoon. Lots of AI changes that's great, sounds like we won't be double building gated for Temple Guard, but I'll have to see all the changes for the player side.
