The EU is starting to bring in what are essentially protectionist measures against Chinese EVs. They are using emotive language like a “flood” of Chinese EVs and claims of dumping, which is completely false, as the prices of Chinese EVs in Europe are significantly higher than for the equivalent model in China. Germany was very happy while Chinese consumers were buying German cars. Greed and selfishness are a curse.

My main issue is repairability! Because, vehicles are the most repairable consumer product in the World, while being one of the most complex pieces of machinery in the World. Moreover, a product can only be sustainable if it is able to achieve a long product life-cycle. Hence, my questions are: a. Will we get support from the OEM long-term? b. Will independent shops get access to OEM's information, e.g., the procedures to perform maintenance, or material specifications? c. Will spare parts be available? d. Will aftermarket parts be available? These questions are what truly matters in a vehicle, alligned with the two main vehicle aspects: reliability and support - not its power, software capabilities, or price. Because a vehicle holds too much value, too much resources, and too much man hours to be discarded easily. However, I think people have taken these two aspects for granted - which Chinese companies have taught us we can not, e.g., on smartphones, cheap electronics, and televisions. I own a 22-year old car, which still drives me to and from work every work day reliably, comfortably, and efficiently. A cheap, light, and small car - a 2001 Renault Clio, with a gasoline 1.2L 16v engine, producing 75 hp, consuming 5.5 L/100km. It is a well-known and simple vehicle to work on, spare parts are readily available, and it is cheap (to maintain, insure, tax, and on fuel). And, by being small, it spent quite less resources than a modern EV - while lasting 22 years, and I still intend on driving it one more year, and selling it in 2024 or 2025. This is sustainability!
@chjin1796
@chjin1796 5 ай бұрын
The structure of an electric car is much simpler than that of a gasoline vehicle. As a result, their maintenance intervals are much longer than those of gasoline vehicles. Reliability is also higher. Although China's electric vehicles are being replaced very quickly. But as long as you choose a big brand, there will be no problem with spare parts. Most Chinese car companies do not make profits from spare parts, and the parts-to-part ratio is not high.

They will tell you will cost 3 months to fix .even do some dirty stuff in the battery. After 3 months.Battery fail again. This Cycle goes on. Till force you to selling the car.It's happened in china right now. If you know how Chinese company treat their employees you will never buy them.Don't just believe what they said and the number. I own Toyota hybrid and lexus hybrid. Toyota hybrid battery failed after 10 years 400,000km.Just spent two hours to fix a new one.

After many years, I finally see a few MB EQx and BMW xDrive cars in Colorado. There are a lot more Rivians and Mach-E’s. Tesla is absolutely dominant. Conclusion, very few Americans want to buy German EVs, not at the price points they are sold for any way. Chinese EVs are completely shut out of the American market, so there’s no way of telling if they will be accepted by the consumers here or not. Korean EVs aren’t sold well either.

@514broly 7 ай бұрын
Chinese cars also had to overcome at lot of stigma like what the Korean cars did: Cheap and affordable as being the only reason why you would buy one to actually being desirable enough to buy and own one. In the end, it’s a win for car buyers for having more alternatives.

You people EU wanted to sell your cars in China ok but when china wants to sell their cars in Germany, theres noises made!! Is this a fair trade? Come on European imperialists, sober up and be fair!!
@drscopeify
@drscopeify 8 ай бұрын
That is not how it works, Europe was exporting car but importing large quantity of parts, machines and tools so it was a fair trade off however Europe still had a negative trade deficit so China was benefiting in exchange European companies were bringing back to Europe large income which was taxes to fund large social programs in Europe. Now, if European companies are not longer making money from China and unable to compete in the local European market and are no longer making money which pays for taxes for social programs, and Europe has negative trade deficit then Europe will be badly impacted by this trade imbalance and will probably take aggressive actions. China cannot win on every level and expect the world to just turn over and die for it. Europe needs to support its own economy and population.

@@drscopeify Europe people will gain if goods are cheap that where every country wants. People cost of living high so can't afford to buy own country goods and of course buying China made goods. PEOPLE FIRST , if your country cannot offers anything to export it shows your government is weak and only listen to US instructions such as Huawei. Listening to 🇺🇸 to boycott huawei but ending up paying more expensive 5G infrastructure. Are you silly to follow 🇺🇸 instructions? Ask yourself on this!!

@@drscopeify As a Chinese guy, I recognize that what you are saying is indeed a very real problem. A chronic trade imbalance coupled with the inability to issue currency without limit will result in Europeans getting poorer and poorer and fewer jobs. China does not want to be an aggressive country and is by no means a winner-take-all country. But what I don't understand is why Europeans would reject investment from China. Chinese investment in Europe comes from real companies, not from financial conglomerates like on Wall Street.
@maxhuang2254
@maxhuang2254 7 ай бұрын
@@drscopeify It's been said that part of Europe's trade deficit is due to their voluntary refusal of cheap oil and natural gas from Russia, opting to purchase energy from the United States (albeit 'slightly' more expensive because it's considered democratic energy). How should this be attributed to the Chinese? Additionally, Americans prohibit Europeans from selling high-tech products like lithography machines to China. Does this also fall on the Chinese? Or is it fair trade in action? Your argument seems to have some validity, but it carries bias and arrogance towards the Chinese. You need to change your attitude, as times have changed.

Thats bs we germans are completely tolerant to chinese evs. The only problem is that they try to sell it here for double the price. A nio with battery costs here 60k € you can get a fully speced a4, 3 series or c class for that price. Chinese ev brands need to change their price policy in europe if they want to be succesful!

Chinese Cars dominante with connectivity, not necessarily with quality and safety. For good reason BYD is leading fire accidents, although saying the blade battery is a safe one. However, it is not the battery only, but the entire battery and charging management. At the end the customer need to decide what he or she prefer: cheap electric features or a safe and reliable car. Keep in mind: we drive on highways while Chinese stück in traffic jams. Data Shows a dail max. range of 50 km and and avg. Speed of 15 km/h. Accident No. 1: front Crash due to strong acceleration.
