In preparation to make a size comparison, I also lined up some 40k minis from different races and standard troops. I was kinda suprised that they are all roughly the same height and how small Orks are, and the Ork was a commando, not even a regular troop.

Commandos aren't really elites, they're just sneakier than average boyz. The nob kits are enormous by comparison - you can't mistake one for another unless you're looking at the weedier "unit leader" nob from the modular boyz kit, and even he's a bit bulkier (but still very bow-legged and hunched, like all those older figs). The warboss models are even larger, and of course Ghazghkull is the size of a dreadnought after he puts his armor on, and not much smaller beforehand. All that fits with the "never stop growing" fluff - and it would be nice if we got some ogryn-sized "prime orks" as an elite unit someday, especially if the continue to refuse to make regular nobs worth fielding. Great kit, multiple editions worth of terrible rules. FWIW the Age of Sigmar Hardboyz (which were originally the WFB Black Orc elites) are about 40K nob size, and even bulkier thanks to their armor. You can swap parts between those two kits (which you really can't do with regular boyz), although it requires some surgery thanks to the asinine way the Black Orcs are sectioned up.

I'm a veteran of Rogue Trader (first edition ) Warhammer 40'000. So I still have my Rogue Trader era Squats as well as the newer Legues of Votan models too. And they definitely look weird stood beside each other. Scale creep has been a thing in Warhammer for a long time though. So I have come to accept this as a small problem in the hobby.

2:15 If we assume the Comissar is average male height in the US - 5'10 - this demonstration would put the Hearthkyn at about my height - 5'6. Hardly Dwarven, is it?

I'd say it's a bad example to use bases that already have basing materials on them. Just two bases with nothing on them except the minis would be a lot more accurate.
@WarhammerWorkshopTV2 жыл бұрын
As you can see in the second image, the basing material and varying base thicknesses were accounted for.
@richardwitt23342 жыл бұрын
@@WarhammerWorkshopTV I get that but I'm just saying that two bases plain would be better for measuring the height of the minis without having to account for the base thickness and basing material.

short answer: no, they should be on 32 mm like sisters if battle and half a head shorter than them

Look to be about 5' tall compared to a male human fig if that human is ~6' tall. That's fine for a squat. What's more annoying is that they'll all be that height, just like all Guardsmen are about the same. Real human beings vary enormously and (in the US, anyway) have about a 6" difference between the average male and female to boot. You can easily find people between 4'10" and 6'4" in the modern day US population, and it would be really unusual to see any ten people all falling within a couple of inches of one another - but you won't see that reflected in plastic minis. At least not without shopping from different manufacturers. :)

Aren't the Kin all clones created from genetic stock? So them being a standard height wouldn't be that out of place.

They're taller than Firstborn. Yes. They're like, half a head shorter than most guardsmen..

They're definitely sized as if Primaris were "standard human size"

No matter their punch can send a space marine back 6feet away
@adcharz71052 жыл бұрын
Yeh, this was a total disappointment as a fan of old school squats/space dwarves. They FINALLY bring them back after 30 years, and we just get Space Marines with beards.
@plogoo12 жыл бұрын
Not even really that many beards. I did some custom 3D printing to add more / bigger beards and make them more dwarfy.

I've turned to Etsy. Some really nice squat figures there, especially bikes, trikes and Exo-armour.

The Hearthkyn are VERY mini-marine but theyre really the exception rather than the rule, thankfully. You also gotta remember that the accomplishments of the Squats are now by proxy that of the leagues because in canon the squats are now and have always been a minor league so theyre gonna draw some parallels with the imperium

NO..They are just right and proportionally correct enough to wipe their own arses. Rhey xouldnusr an armored suit like a War Walker, Crisis Suit or Paragons..
