Kevon Looney is so underrated. I don't know if he would have as much success in other systems being the small ball center that he is, but the things he does for the Warriors; offense boards, great paint protection, and superb passing, make him shine on this great team.

As a Warriors fan, the vibe I get from the team this season is that they're not trying as hard as they should, and they're just messing around with rotations to see what works come playoff time. I was concerned like everyone else at the start, but I think they're trying to actually win games now. This upcoming road trip will really tell us where they stand
@benrinehart7776
@benrinehart7776 Жыл бұрын
big agree. I expected them to lose most of their first 15 games, as they try to bring the newer and bench players up a notch in skill and synergy with the rest of the warriors lineup. And in this game we saw that synergy with how well each of the role and bench players filled their niche, maintaining the pace, intensity, and playstyle of the starters. I think the W's feel a little entitled to getting to the playoffs. and for good reason, making it the finals 6 out of the past 8 years is a huge deal. and once they are in the playoffs, I think they have a very good chance of repeating a championship
@sleepyheadz
@sleepyheadz Жыл бұрын
Their preseason is basically 20 games into the regular season. With how the teams are stacked up, it doesn't really matter getting the top seeds. They've experience the collapse of their 73-9 season, so there's nothing to prove. Most contending teams now are just using the regular season to practice and polish their post season form and even then it is too long, and we have now an acceptable bullshit practice of "load management". The 82 game league schedule is broken for as long as corporate America can remember. Does having Eastern-Western conferences even have any meaning anymore? The most logical and sensible schedule is for teams to play home and away games with every other team, making it a 58 game season. Seeding the leaderboard #1 to #16 scrapping the East/West thing will then make regular season games meaningful as being the top seed means you're basically playing the middle of the league teams and underdog upsets are even more dramatic and exciting.
@SuperSupersoda

I'm a warriors fan too, and I think the core players and people around the team stopped caring about the regular season after the 2016 finals. They saw how all that effort they poured into an all-time regular season was rewarded. Smart people figure out the incentive structure fast, that's what makes them smart people. The warriors went into the post-season last year having lost 16 of their last 28. it didn't matter. They haven't been struggling this season so far, they just don't care about the regular season.

@@t-raw4316 "Had it been..." "Imagine if...". All that copium, yet everything you said was a complete non-sequitur. The dude was talking about the Celtics v. Warriors game that just happened, and you're still living in June, apparently. "... the bucks would have advanced in 5". Not having Middleton isn't a good enough excuse for letting Grant Williams score 27 points in a single game. The Bucks' coaching is what cost them the series. "Imagine if Tatum missed a game or 2 against that Heat team". Tatum played through a fractured wrist in the entire playoffs. He could have missed time for that, but he played anyway. Besides, he could have missed three games, and as long as they were games 1, 3, and 6, the series would have ended the same way. The Heat had a full roster in game 7, and still lost. That's what matters, and that's what happened. To be fair though, you're right. The Celtics got lucky. They got lucky that Middleton was hurt. They got lucky that they stayed (mostly) healthy for the playoffs. They got lucky that Jimmy Butler chose to take a 3 at the end of game 7, and they got lucky that it didn't go in. They got lucky that so many of their recent draft picks (Smart, Brown, Tatum, Grant Williams, Rob Williams, Pritchard) turned out to be valuable players. They got lucky that their star players have matured, and don't have the ego issues that plague other teams (i.e. the Nets). They got lucky that the Derrick White trade worked out well for them. The fact of the matter is that every successful team in professional sports got there partly due to luck. You can either accept that and move on, or you can stay stuck in the past playing the "what if" game until the end of time.

I think wiseman just needs to improve his basketball IQ. He loves to play around the basket and camp in the paint on offense. He just needs to do a better job understanding spacing. It’s why kuminga also looked bad early on. Wiseman clogging the paint completely nullified kuminga’s playstyle, and now with wiseman out, the improved spacing has allowed kuminga to play to his strengths. Wiseman just needs to learn from looney on where he should be on offense.

Warriors basketball was back last night. Consistency is key. There was a play where Lamb missed curry opened on the kick out 3. Kerr called time out and sat him for the rest of the game. I think once everyone gets on the same page warriors will be ok

Circle gets the square. They used to care about the regular season, once upon a time. Then they found out what winning 73 regular seasons games got you: becoming the go-to argument for people who want to make the case that Lebron is the GOAT. There are no rewards for regular season wins, the warriors haven't cared in a long time, unless it's personal.

The warriors and their individual players always show up when it comes play off time, so it doesn’t matter to me how they look in the regular season as long as they can make it to the playoffs, i’m confident in their abilities when it comes to the post season.

It was a replay of the finals, the way the Warriors limited Tatum forcing turnovers and tough shots. Looks like Tatum didnt see a real defense this season till this game.

I told everybodyyyyy last year and this year that Klay's shot selection was awful (even showed stats that proved it) and everybody simply said he was bad and that wasnt the problem. Kinda nice hearing that basketball genius Ben Taylor and his crew thought the same lol

I feel like a video post on LeBron James' impact would be appreciated. Last I checked, the Lakers actually have a better offensive and defensive rating this year with LeBron off the court vs on the court, and in general age seems to be, from a distance, finally really catching up to him. Of course I don't know this for sure but I'd love to see a deep dive done on it.

Or even a video on the adjustments he can make, because from my viewing it seems like his impact and efficiency are down in part because he needs to reduce his workload and correspondingly shift his shot selection. He's shooting from outside a lot, when he was never a sniper.

Very good points, but i think you only touched on the celtics odd choice of drop coverage. Its never worked for them yet they tried it. In addition, the celtics, stars and all, all looked like deer in headlights all game. I've been watching them all season and save for a few early games this season, this is the most lost they've looked. I think this game shows the high value of al horford defensively to the celtics and how much mazzula needs to adjust quicker.

I think Griffin has been a solid bench big for the Celtics, and he can improve his decision making and system knowledge on the defensive end, but his foot speed and jump recovery are going to limit him there. The team needs to have Williams or Horford available, or they need to change their coverages.

So you wanna tell me Klay is getting back to his defensive form AND Kuminga is also becoming this strong physical plus-wing defender? Them two plus Wiggins can lock up any offense in the playoffs. You can put those 3 up against the likes of Giannis, Khris and Jrue. Obviously Jaylen and Jayson too. Kawhi and PG. Guys of that caliber.

Rather than the defense being amazing, the Celtics just had stagnant offense with limited ball movement. Didn't watch the game but that's based on the clips that were shown on this video. Makes it easy on the defense when you don't force them to chase out to open shooters.

Jason Tatum really needs to improve his strength. I rarely see taller star guards and forwards struggling against shorter players, since they can shoot above them or post them up. Especially in prior eras like Kobe, Penny, Jordan, Magic, even Mark Jackson and Gary Payton shoots over and posts up against smaller guards as if they were nothing.

As a Celtics fan, I wasn’t too worried about this game. My reaction to it was the same as their first loss to the Cavs when levert had 40. He has 40 like 2 times a year one just so happened to be against us. I love klay but with the type of shots he settles for and his lower shooting efficiency he’s just not the same player he once was, he catches fire some nights but in a 7 game series klay Thompson won’t be the guy beating you like he was against the thunder.
