Are the Witcher Games Canon to the books?

Yep, you heard it right every story beat in the games is made up by cd project Red, I don't know if everyone thought the same as I did, but when I heard about the books I assumed that at least some events in the game came from the books, but when I finished reading the novels, I realized that wasn't the case, don't get me wrong I still love the events in the games, but considering how the novels ended, there is a massive gap in between the books and games, I hope you enjoyed, like, subscribe, share, comment, and I'll see you on another video... maybe.

I did, or rather listened to the audio books as well, which are absolute Gold when it comes to the narration the accents used play to the times. I played W3 before learning about the books, hated the T.V. show

oohhhh!! i also listened to the audiobooks, peter kenny is just a master of narration and voice acting, I loved every character he played, even the female ones are convincing, I think I have ADHD because even though I listened to the audiobooks I couldn't focus on that while doing other things, so I both read the books and listen to them at the same time, I would just sit there listen and trace my eyes over the text, that's my new favorite way of consuming books now, I also hate the tv show, I think everybody does, I only watched the first few episodes of season 1, and I heard that's one of the better seasons, the other ones are trash, I'm glad henry cavil got out of that ghouls' nest, I can't imagine what he feels like, being a fan of the games and books, trying his best to save the property from those butchers they call writers.

I wish some of the games content was more in the books, like the lore behind the crones, are they the ONLY creatures to exsist that have powerful magic, besides the Djinn

as far as I know, the only beings in the books that can use magic are, humans, elves, djinn, and unicorns I guess, they can travel through worlds, I suppose that's magic, my theory is that the crones' mother is a powerful human witch, and the crones are her creations, similar to how mages have golems, only the crones are far more sentient and powerful

I was realy confused with the games. Still the games (3rd one) made me read the series. I'm happy that the devs have built on the books, but I must say that I don't remember any attempt on king Foltest's life. As I remember, the only royal killing taking place around the period of the second game could be the murder of the king of Novigrad, Vizimyr. I love the games and I would probably watch the rest of the Witcher Netflix's addaptation had it not been for the drama and Henry Cavil's replacement.

You would notice this specially in the first game. The first game starts with what the books end with, and Geralt had an amnesia, so everyone meets him, starts to remind him of himself by telling stories or situations, which are from the books. I love how CD Projekt Red made their own unique stories rather than relying completely on the book. That said, there is a new book coming soon, at least according to Andrzej Sapkowski. I hope it has the same quality of the other books, and not just a way to cash in on the show (which I only watched 3 episodes of it, and hated it.)

Yep, that show is a disaster! If they had followed the books as they are with no change and had just a little bit of talent to translate the medium to film, it would've been a much better show.

Games did retcon a couple of things from the book plot, for example, false Ciri. In the game everyone somehow aware that Ciri is Emhyr's daughter and nobody has a problem with it, even though he is officially married to her, lol. They generally tried to redeem Emhyr, I'm guessing all that to make "Empress Ciri" ending possible. IMO, book Ciri would never even consider that, she hates Emhyr too much and she's not fond of the politics too. They buffed Wild Hunt quite a lot to make them more of a threat and I have no idea what they did with the White Frost. Generally, whatever happens after a battle with Eredin seems like pure nonsense and it could also be due to the story being largely unfinished

Honestly not a fan of the Witcher books per se. Found all of them to be very dry reading. The short collections are great though. The Witcher games do a much better job of relaying the ‘feel’ IMO. And this coming from someone who read the books first and then played the games.

I did like the books, but as an experience I also think the games are superior, as for the story, what I didn't like in the books and the witcher 3 is the whole rescuing Ciri thing, I liked the side quests a lot better, and in the books I liked when Geralt was doing witcher stuff and also the whole journey from brokilon with milva, dandelion, Regis, zoltan..., I hated the sorceresses and everything that has to do with them, haha, I guess that's what the author was going for, evil rude witches but my favorite thing by far about the Witcher property, in general, is the amazing world building, it's fantasy yet it feels very real.

To be honest I hope the books are their own canon because if they were connected to the games that would mean that Ciri would be attracted to female horses and I really don't want that to be the case
