I've had a pair of these in my studio for about 5 months now and they are phenomenal. The low end is very nice, already did a film score with them and mixing it was a breeze.

With the soundId correction on - it‘s fantastic. Probably I would reduce the correction a bit to have more low end. I use Adams T7Vs. So I know these tweeters well. 👌🏼

Thanks Warren. Can you tell me what is the distance between the speakers? I assume judging by the 43" wide console, and accounting for the (39") depth of the console, they sit somewhere around 75" to 80" apart. I am even close? :D

These look great, thanks for the review. I am on old ADAM A7s right now. Not all bad but could use an upgrade. ADAM A8H and these Fluid ones seem appropriate contenders. Any comments on that, anyone? Unfortunately there's no retailer nearby stocking both.

Hey Warren, great video as always! I’d love to know your thoughts on the kali audio IN-8v2 versus these image 2s - since I recall you have a lot of experience using the IN series and was wondering how they compare in terms of imaging, mid range clarity, transient response, and translation.

2:50 that speaker looks like it’s extremely close to the back wall. Doesn’t that cause a huge bass bump?
@---pp7tq
@---pp7tq 5 ай бұрын
Maybe it's also what causes so much bass cut after correction. To the extent I'd maybe even worry about mixing low end with it (maybe I'm wrong, it's just recording), but at least it's not so boomy.

@@Producelikeapro I really appreciate it. It was just something I observed in my own room - the left sepaelr especially had some big bass bumps due to proximity to a corner that I needed to correct. But I guess high frequency preoblems can be just as problematic.

My monitors in my small mixing room have to be against the wall and as well as rolling off the bottom end I use ARC 4 to flatten out the bass bump. Another thing to mention is that although I don't have to use a sub with my Adams A8H's using my Kali WS-6.2 sub does give me a better stereo image. I guess this is because I'm losing some low end reflections off the walls which are about 2 foot away. 🤔

I would be interested to see the directivity measurements on these.
@Producelikeapro
@Producelikeapro 5 ай бұрын
Marvellous!
@MFKitten
@MFKitten 5 ай бұрын
@@Producelikeaprothe directivity index would show how even the spread is through the spectrum. Ideally it should narrow as it gets higher in frequency. That way you separate spatial cues between the two sides, and you have less high frequency energy hitting the first reflection points. If the crossover points aren't quite right, like if the drivers are too far apart, or the crossover point is set too high, you'll see the dispersion suddenly going back down before going back up. Usually in the lower treble because of crossover to the tweeter. What can happen then is that the energy here is spread MORE out to the side walls than the energy above and below it, so the unpleasant lower treble is what gets reflected around the room more.

I bet that horn makes the ribbon sound good but i believe for reference it will kind of fool you and your actual mix might sound kind of dull
@MFKitten
@MFKitten 5 ай бұрын
I mean, the measurements show an even amount of treble.
@Durkhead
@Durkhead 5 ай бұрын
@@MFKitten its prob not a big difference but recessed inclosures usually add treble so if the measurements were flat and your trying to mix on them then your mix will come out with less treble
@MFKitten
@MFKitten 5 ай бұрын
@@Durkhead that's not quite how it works. What the horn does is narrow down the response and increase the efficiency of the driver. Having the horn there means you don't get as much side wall reflection of the treble bouncing around. With a waveguide/horn loaded tweeter, that also has a well adjusted output to compensate for the harshness that horns inherently add, you will have a cleaner flatter sounding treble.
@Durkhead
@Durkhead 5 ай бұрын
@@MFKitten my point is the horn is altering the sound after it comes out of the speaker so when you try to mix on them you think theres enough treble but because the horn made the tweeter more efficient (louder) you dont actually add enough treble but like i said its prob not a big deal
@MFKitten
@MFKitten 5 ай бұрын
@@Durkhead and my point is an acoustic measurement revealed that to not be the case here. The amount of treble is perfectly balanced vs the mids, and the treble is very even and smooth.
