My reservation strategy (XL driver) If the reservation is roughly about the time I want to start my driving day, and pays enough I’ll take it. I’ll also accept a reservation in the middle of a shift if the time is very soon and it pays enough.

Had one right before daylight savings time change today and it blocked me for having rides for 1 hour prior to reservation while being next to an event with surge. Then I wait for the reservation and it gets removed off my app. Wasted one hour of my life for nothing.

Only worth it if you decline the majority of rides you get which take you out of the way of the reservation. If you rely on Uber they will send you so far away, they themselves will cancel the reservation for you when it's time to head back to it.

Exactly this. They claim they will offer trips towards your reservation. Bullcrap. This morning I must have had at least 25 offers, each one of which would have destroyed my ability to reach my reservation.

In San Diego, they are worst than Lyft, because you have to be online an hour before. Lyft is just a few mins before. But, they’re still not worth my time. Uber used to be great at this. They just recently dropped the rates to near Lyft levels, but you’d waste more of your time so you would end up making less. A disaster. Uber has died. 👋 ✌️

I've reported the discrepancy on the reservation - re: be online 40 minutes, be online an hour before - several times. Have had reserved rides given away and then received a message about canceling the reserved ride, when sent to a ride that would take me far from the reserved pick-up. Have reported SO MANY TIMES. Then I receive multiple responses with simplistic instructions on how cancellation rates are decided.

The screenshot on the right came from me. They changed the reservation time for 30 minutes before the ride. There are times that I will accept a reservation and they block me from getting rides until I complete that reservation.

I never ever take scheduled reserve trips. They are just not worth it with the 40 minutes of downtime leading up to them. I am leery of taking reserve offers because the offer screen gives you the time to pick up and the destination but leaves out the important factor of what time the ride is for, so sometimes you end up waiting for 20 minutes and the ride ends up not worth it. On the other hand, you only have to wait 5 minutes past the reservation time and you can cancel for the full fair, which has happened to me a bunch of times... So it is a risk... The worst is when you get there 20 minutes early and they come out and 4 minutes and 50 seconds after the reservation time (that has also happened to me a bunch of times)... In keeping with the fact that we are contractors and should have all the info, the reservation time should be on the ping screen.

On those 4:50 idiots, I slowly drive around the corner at 4:40 and cancel as soon as cancel flag appears...even if I see them walking out. I don't take the abuse by playing their game right back.

Drivers lose a lot of time NOT PAID by having to be online 40 minutes prior to the reservation pickup time, and no rides given to them in that 40 minutes, then arriving at the destination because Uber said, "Time to head that way, with only 7 minutes to the actual pickup spot. So if you head that way and you arrive in 7 minutes, and the clock shows that you have to wait 15-20 minutes free of charge, but somehow those waiting minutes are included in the reservation price but you don't see it, so you can only assume the total amount of the reservation is basically for an hour of your total time for that one ride.

Reserved trips are dead. Uber sent me 8 Friday with no mileage. Plus the pay has been cut so low decline

They keep lowering pay for reservations. Who the heck accepts 8.00 to 10.00 reservation rides when you have to be there 15 to 25 minutes early.

I take the uber reservation. Lyft not really worth it. Lyft doesn't pay enough for the wait. I keep the lyft app on while im waiting for the uber rider. If i get a lyft request while im waiting, i check to see if i can get back in time for the Uber pickup. If i can, I'll accept the Lyft ride. Get paid twice for the same time. I also found that many riders never show up. I wait the time, then cancel. I usually try to get a coffee on my way over to the pickup point. Have a coffee while i wait and check emails. I think a business owner sets up the pickup rides for her employees to get to work. Just a guess.

Nope not worth it. Tied up for almost an hour for an airport reserved ride in New Orleans to Airport for $12-18 for a comfort ride. Nope no freaking way.

It depends if its a health insurance or business reservation than NO! If it's a private individual yes it can be worth it. During surge all might be worth it. Just remember there is almost zero chance of a tip with business reservations. In San Antonio area its health insurance companies and major car dealerships for the most part.

I had a reserve trip to go to the airport at one time and was online an hour and a half beforehand and got maybe one trip but I can’t even remember if I got one trip but then I was just sitting there 25 minutes away from this reservation for an hour with no ride and I had a $17 surge on next ride. When I picked up the reservation, my $17 surge went away. Needless to say I don’t do reservations anymore… Edit: Excuse me, very few reservations would I do and hardly ever do them. Haven’t done one since, but have not completely ruled it out if it were a ride that fit my needs or where I’m going…

Uber is also using reservations as a control mechanism to get you to drive where it needs you. I don’t take them under $20, not worth it.

That’s hurt my feelings and I can’t do anything about it, reservation 6.9miles for 12$ I have to go wait rider 20 minutes ahead, and rider didn’t show up on time and I have to wait for another 9 minutes, and the traffic are terrible took 22 minutes to the drop off location, and I screwed my self, feel regret for myself that I shouldn’t except this opportunity at all , 😢😢😢😢

Reservations have to be treated like any other ride. Is the ride worth it? So what if the ride takes me to the airport (LAX). Can the ride stand up on its own money wise? If not, no. There is no guarantee that the airport trip will be any better.

I literally get reservations every day. I drive early mornings. Mostly airport rides. I know where to pick them up. Uber is continuing to take more money from the scheduled rides though. I can't screenshot these to show you, but I am a 6 year driver with over 12k rides. I won't take a reservation unless it pays 12 dollars and is not more than 12 miles. I have to make a living. But as you say, watch the rides stats. Uber is starting to send you 13 miles for pickup for a 15 minute ride back to where you were.

Income per mile (3801)…1.52. YTD totals….Gross Revenue…78608. Ubers take….22991. My take…55617.00. Percentage to me 71%. Per trip….22.38. Per mile…1.36. How are your numbers doing?

Was worth it only if it was going to be first ride, short drive to pick up. Haven't accepted one in months. At some point Uber will have to deal with the reality of drivers leaving if not PROFITABLE

Honestly, I've gotten some really good reservations through Uber and I've accepted them, even days in advance. In fact one guy saw me as assigned days in advance and tipped me for the commitment through to his reservation date and time. I said I didn't know he would know I was his driver days in advance. That was a surprise to me. I've also gotten reservations that pop up as I'm going into an area that are pretty great and I've committed to driving a crazy amount of miles to go pick them up, but there are also really dumb options to places like the Hollywood Bowl for a concert where the thing is less than $10 but they know nobody will get them when they are ready to go. Those I completely disregard. On a different note, what I'm tired of is people messaging me they are in a hurry or getting into the car and telling me they're in a hurry. Do not do this. I will take longer routes and I will drive below the speed limit.

On a reservation, uber sent me there 15 mins earlier than normal and had me departing 15 mins earlier but was threatening that I would lose the reservation even after commencing the ride??? It's like there was a glitch in the matrix.
