Advice from a married gay couple -- it's o.k. to have a budget, of course, but don't be too cheap $$$ with your wedding day and reception. Perhaps cliche in some ways, but it is one of top special days in your whole life. Make sure you have a good photographer, as you'll want to remember the day in photos/vid afterwards, as it will be a blur for you that day with emotions and nerves. And, imho have some flowers guys, a wedding without some flowers, come on. They look good in the pics if nothing else. Happy for you. Congrats. ❤️🌈

Maui Guy tbh we used my Sony to do our own engagement shoot and had my brother and sisters boyfriend photo and video. Only regret I have as a photojournalist is not micing the vows

I attended a wedding where instead of flowers they had balloons in a rainbow arch over the wedding party. It looked terrific.

Just a couple of ideas you may not have thought about: 1) I've seen wedding videos where they placed a few cameras around the venue which are "un-manned". One or two at different angles at the back or sides and one or two towards the front. It's NY, I'm sure you can rent them without having to include a person to operate them. You probably also have some tech savvy friends who can turn them on and make sure they're pointing the right direction and are focusing. Then later you can edit the best parts together. You also get some pretty good reaction moments from the guests. You never know when someone's mom might pass out from being over-joyed. :) 2) If you guys don't NEED new suits, why not rent one? A lot of Tux rental stores have less formal options. You could probably rent suits for both of you that would be about the same amount for just one suit, if not cheaper.

Sounds like you guys have everything, or nearly everything, planned. One thing I've experienced at the weddings I've attended or been in is that given the chance some photographers will "run" the whole event. Just one observation. Good luck and I look forward to future episodes. Love you guys.

There is a lot of work in planning a wedding. I never really thought about it because I have never been in love or getting married. You guys are thinking this through and planning this out. I hope you two are having fun in the planning stages into the actual event. Technology helps too it seems. You two are adorable when you laugh together at things. Keep planning that wedding and enjoy yourselves.

The most important about a wedding is to have fun. i work in catering and have been to plenty of weddings (professionally). Make sure the time between the ceremony and food is not too long, some guests (and yourselves) might have had a long time since getting ready/travel/ what time of day is your ceremony. Do not let them drink too much on an empty stomach. Guests get very bored if the photos take too long and you leave them alone. If you have kids there, make sure there is entertainment for them, maybe a separate room with toys. Do not worry too much about your timetable/schedule, you will be behind. Just try to eat as close to the time you scheduled, or your caterer gets pissed off. and when it is time to leave, leave. The staff had a long day and they still have to tidy up!In Germany we have lots of traditional games one can do, if you are interested, I am sure you can find some tips on the net. This is good advice. I went to a wedding where the guests had to wait 45 minutes, standing in a hot lobby, before we were allowed into the reception hall. There was a lot of bad planning by the bride. She micromanaged the event. Delegate some of the tasks on the wedding day. That's what the besties are for.

Makes me feel all weird... 🤪😉 Been married for 11,5 years and my ex-husband has been my female best friend now for almost three years and going to her and her girlfriend for Easter brunch tomorrow. 😉👍🏳️‍🌈 But when we got married, so back in ... 1839 😂, we broke it up into three events: very small event with just our ‘best people’ at the town hall and a lunch afterwards, a drink/dinner kind of celebration over at my parents’ place a few days later and a drink/dinner at a bar for friends a week later. Was nice, worked for us. 😉 Moral of the story: stick to what feels good for yourselves. Don’t over-plan, the guests are your nearest and dearest and will fill in the day within the basic set-up you hand to them. Have a lot of fun in the further process of living towards it! 👍💙💃✨

For your suits, try SRG Fashion Corp in Astoria. Its a bit of a hike from ditmars, but trust me great quality suits and professional help. Its basically the wholesale shop for the suits they sell to retailers in manhattan. My Suit retailed for 800+, but i got it from SRG for 250. Onsite tailor can assist and make or recommend any alterations.

Another choice would be Green Gold Wedding Rings... They're typically made from 10K Gold with Silver alloyed.... So, if you can't decide between Yellow, Rose or White... Go Green :)

I just need the location so I can crash. I'll being my own food, fried chicken, shrimp and potato salad, but will hit the free drink bar. Will only dance with the girls so I don't hit on someone's boyfriend and ruin the reception. You won't even know I was there. I'll photo bomb the pics and videos and then leave very quietly.
