The staring question hit home for me because I have mild cerebral palsy (hemiplegic left leg and arm) so people stare a lot especially when my husband and I are holding hands in a store or walking up or down stairways. But, there’s also the children in public that will say…Mommy/Daddy…why is that lady walking like that? Is she hurt? Then, the parents will whisper to them to be quiet 🤫 and pull them away. I always try to make my way over to them and tell them it’s ok to ask questions because I feel like it’ll help children feel more comfortable if they see disabled people…let’s face it…kids aren’t exposed to disabled people everyday so that helps open their eyes to see that they don’t have to be afraid of people who look different. It helps them build respect

I totally agree. I was a little sad (although obviously I understood the reasoning) when they first announced they weren't showing him on social media, because I thought that meant we wouldn't be seeing him at all, which felt strange given that he was going to be such a huge part of their life. But the way they've done it is actually really great, and it doesn't feel like we're "missing" anything by not seeing his face. I'm so glad you two answered that question about power dynamics. It's something I've always been curious about. As an able-bodied couple, my husband can ask me to grab him something and I can say "no, get it yourself", but for Hannah that's not an option. Was saying "yes" all the time something you had to get used to? Was that power dynamic a point of discussion you had at the beginning of the relationship because Hannah had never been a caregiver before? Or did it happen naturally? It would be interesting to hear you expand on that topic more.

THANK YOU for bringing up the fact that asking someone when they’re having kids is a sensitive question for many many many reasons. And I am absolutely not a sensitive person that takes everything personally. Not In the least bit. But at the same time, you’re asking about someone intimate life. But mainly, fertility issues. Also, people that really want kids but mentally never feel ready. One partner being ready, the other not feeling ready. It’s a very personal experience to be such a common general question. I understand the intent is usually not to be offensive, but it’s a question that has a lot of personal aspects and emotion behind it:

There’s never going to be a “perfect time” to have a child. It’s something you just need to do when you both feel ready and it sounds like you are. No matter when you do it you will still have to deal with life challenges and work, there’s no way around that. So when the two of you are ready just go for it!
@BlindFaith7772 жыл бұрын
I second this. I had endometriosis and my dr.s suggested I get pregnant as soon as possible after getting married. My husband and I weren’t “ready” until after 5 years of marriage. It was a little challenging for me to get pregnant (I was 33 when we started trying). I had my daughter at 34. We tried again but we’re not successful and I refused to do anything unnatural to get pregnant (I really wanted another but now that my daughter is 15, I’m actually completely content with having only one). You can do all the planning in the world, but when you’re ready, go for it. Having a child is the most life changing experience in the world and only in a good way. I became a completely different person after my daughter was born. I’ve never experienced love like I have since having her. Wishing you the best.

I have befriended a few raccoons over the years, and it's honestly a really special experience. Having a wild animal start to trust you is amazing. We helped a mama raccoon while she was pregnant, and while she was raising her babies, and, once she was ready to move on with the babies, she brought them to meet us! We got to touch them and watch them try to eat out of a bowl for the first time. We have adorable pictures of this! Also, the mama raccoon would eat out of our hands! Some people have them as pets!!! They make good pets. They're intelligent, curious, playful, and can be very gentle and loyal. Another very gentle animal is a possum! I know they look ugly as sin, but they're extremely gentle and docile creatures. Another animal to befriend: crows are not aggressive or anything, but I wouldn't call them super gentle. However, theyre INCREDIBLY smart! Look up some docu's about how smart they are. They can mimic human speech, reason thru& solve complex puzzles, "buy" things from humans and other crows (such as "paying" other crows to babysit their young; or "paying" humans with whatever they see the human likes, such as coins or cigarette packages, in exchange for the food they want). They have complex language with each other, as well, so one crow can tell other crows about you, how to recognize you, your habits, etc. So cool!
@jenromano192 жыл бұрын
@@ewetn1 That's amazing! I had no idea crows were so smart. Thanks for sharing that. I definitely learned something new today! My interest in raccoons started as a child, because my dad raised one in his home as a teenager, so I grew up hearing the story. Whenever my dad gave me a stuffed animal, it was a raccoon. 🦝 His little guy had his own jar of peanut butter in the cabinet, and he would go in there and go in the cabinet, open his peanut butter and eat it. When he was old enough, he left "home." At the end of that summer, he showed up one day. At the edge of the woods my dad saw another adult raccoon a few babies! It was like little guy brought his family to meet my dad. I had a similar experience with the one we cares for during her pregnancy and nursing. They're soooo smart and sensitive and intuitive. A lot of people don't give animals enough credit!

I opened my laptop and sat across from him once I got home and just let him chill as he nibbled that apple. Eventually, I decided it was time for him to go, but he ran off and hid behind my toilet. He ran back and force in circles from the toilet to the door as I tried to get a box over him. He was so terrified of me by the time I got him that he was shaking and peed himself. How people react to disability is so frustrating. When it's physically obvious they treat you differently because of it. I have chronic mental health problems, which is not obvious, and people assume that my disability doesn't affect my daily life at all and that when I struggle with things it's just the same as it would be for them. Like if I'm stressed about something they think that I'm no more stressed than they are and that it's just normal. It's so belittling. On a side note I love your channel. It reminds me that anyone can have a beautiful relationship and a family even if they do bring challenges into that dynamic. That the right person will just love you regardless, just as you two love each other.

I dont mean this to come across badly I think I am just bad at wording these things, but you see so many people marrying for security, marrying for money, marrying for appearances and you are such an amazing example of a modern love story that at least on social media I don’t see very often. Both of you are amazing people and I’m so glad you found each other.

I think a good way to look at what Hannah does for Shane as far as caregiving is a commitment to be his arms and legs when he needs them, but not to be his brain. He has full autonomy still, she just, second naturedly at this point most likely, provides the arm or legs he needs in a given moment (bite of food, grabbing something from a drawer, driving, bathing, etc., but not making decisions for him (any more than any wife would, that is). Not a burden, but just a part of life not so much different than any other couple. I've sewn buttons, made food a certain way, gotten a beer, done laundry/dishes/cleaning and shared a chocolate sundae, it's just two people doing caring things for each other. He does plenty for her, just perhaps somewhat differently than others, but even perhaps more than most (buying things, more romantic, more activities, etc. he's not just sitting around doing nothing watching sports all day being boring like so many husbands. lol). I just don't see them, as a couple, as any different than any other couple, they just do some of the same things differently, and honestly, are a whole lot more interesting than most, making life fun, and watching them is fun.

I absolutely LOVE this Pic of the two of you headlining this video. So beautiful, if ever a look said "I'll love you forever" it's this one. That LOOK says so much, made me melt, awe! You both are so inspiring to anyone's married life. Hey, swear pants and ts are the very best. Why not be comfy when you can. Love you two.!

As a fellow Minnesotan, I loved the list of restaurants you mentioned! For a long time my favorite was Amazing Thailand. One funny date story I have at Amazing Thailand is that I ordered the Papaya Salad at a level 3 and starting gasping and slightly screaming at the heat after the first bite. Staff members had to act fast and bring out cold milk. Funny now, not so much then

When it comes to adulting, I'm just like you two. I think we're taking on a lot more than our parents and so much more to try to pay attention to that things that seem like they should be second nature just fall through the cracks. I cleaned the fridge for the first time since I moved into my apartment yesterday. I've been in this apartment five months...

In my humble opinion, I say, if it happens, it happens! No rush, you have your whole life ahead of you. Don't stress about it, no need in anymore stress. I have 3 girls, one boy, 5 grands...it just happens when you love someone! Unfortunately in my case, after 16yrs my wife tells me she don't love me anymore like, looking out the window and expect to hear, what a beautiful day...that comes out of her mouth instead! Not trying to bring you down, but NEVER let love die, it hurts!! I don't see that at all in y'all, and as far as rude comments, I've dealt with a few on your channel... Don't sweat it!! Show your baby, he/she needs to be involved as well, it's a part of you and your love for one another!! Come on JR! You have some awesome parents waiting to meet you!! New Years Eve kisses...nuff said!✌😂

New subscriber here! I gotta say how happy it makes me to see how happy you are together. I have physical and mental illness myself and as a result I have lost all my self worth and wonder why anyone would even want to be with me. Seeing the love you have makes me realize that a person's value truly is in who they are not what they do or look like. Maybe some day I will be able to see it in myself as well. All the love and happy new year!

So once you have kids, you will have to essentially do all the things around the house and meal planning at a way more intense level. That's how other people end up with time to do things, their kids got older and they still know how to do twice as much in the same amount of time. Plus, kids add a higher level of urgency to everything, you can't put off meal planning or your kids will be all the way in melt down mode by the time you feed them. You can't leave that stair broken or they will be hurt. You start to tackle all the little things really fast because the kids are constantly breaking things and you are convinced it will become cumulatively dangerous. That's where the hobbies come from too, breaks for you time are a crucial part of staying on point the entire time the kids are awake.

Also, I swear you both are the twins of my boyfriend and I. To the T! It’s wild! Everything you’ve answered about your relationship, adulting, parents, having kids, personalities, everything is pretty much identical to us. It’s weird! I had him listen to this video (he was doing stuff around the house) and he was like “I feel like I’m listening to us”. Especially the stuff about not forcing the other party to do something, personalities, what to eat for dinner lol. You guys are so relatable. And we love it 💛

The staring question was a good one. I have Apert's syndrome, it's basically (for lack of a better word) a deformity of the hands, feet and face. I used to get stared at more so when I was a kid than now. I generally don't let it get to me. I have had kids outright ask me why I am the way that I am (with an embarrassed mom looking on0, I'll usually explain I was born this way or something along those lines and tell them that it's OK to ask questions, hopefully they learn something. To the person that just moved to Minneapolis, another piece of advice is learn to drive in snow! I'm running all over the Cities with my client (I'm a PCA) and I hate driving in snow especially with my client because people don't know how to drive in snow!

My only advice is to wear the fuzzy socks Hannah's way (rolled down) lol. Just because you don't always wear clothes for going out doesn't mean you're not fashionable. Hannah, you legit give me ideas for outfits sometimes when I watch Squirmy and Grubs.
