Our goal with this channel is to improve society’s perception of disability. Presently, many people out there assume Hannah must’ve been attracted to my wealth. The underlying meaning of that assumption is that Hannah OBVIOUSLY couldn’t have been attracted to my personality or my looks (because I’m disabled and therefor unworthy of her). This idea is extremely damaging to disabled people, so we made this video to help people realize that money had nothing to do with our getting together. If it makes just a few people question their own biases and assumptions, then making this video was worth it!

My youngest nephew did have a girlfriend, but, after her wanting to date others for awhile, they broke up, got back together after a few years, and broke up again for the same reason. She now wants him back again, but, he won't go back. He remains friends with her, but doesn't want to go through the same thing again.

There was a video a while back where Hannah explained her insecurities because of looking like an adult since she was 13. I felt like that she has learned early on to weed out those who weren’t authentic or real about who they are and what they want. Shane is as real and authentic as it gets. I feel like their personalities just click. I’m so grateful they share these little windows into their lives because it inspires empathy, courage and authenticity for people who watch these videos. Those who go straight to the jealously button are lazy with their own insecurities and maybe after ten odd years of dealing with it they’ll be in a better place and can feel at the least embarrassment at their poor choices…ie:trolling.

If young men could set aside the physical aspects of this relationship which is the most important to males and take a closer look, there is something very valuable to be learned here. For females, the emotional side of a relationship is far and away more important that the physical side. A woman will not fall in love with a man regardless of his looks, money or status unless he provides the emotional connection that she needs. A female has no control over her feelings when these emotional needs are met. This couple is living proof of what I'm saying here. I can't speak for Shane here, but I *want* people to see my disability. It's important for me to be viewed holistically, because disability is often swept under the rug. The world is so hugely inaccessible, and disability is something that isnt talked about by the abled community. It isn't funded by our governments, and it is viewed by many people as a "curse" and not a unique viewpoint we can bring to the world. View the person ofcourse, but view our disability as a part of who we are as that person.

It’s so frustrating that people can’t wrap their heads around disabled folks being in relationships/worthy of love etc. I was in an inter-able relationship for 8 years and folks did the whole “why are you REALLY with him?” Etc constantly. It’s so frustrating that people don’t see folks with disabilities as PEOPLE.

Some disabilities are worse than others. I’m on the autism spectrum (Asperger’s) and statistics show that autistic people struggle more in society than dyslexics, people who stutter and paraplegics. I’m 28 and never had a girlfriend because of my personality related to Asperger’s (can’t flirt, shy, say wrong things). So there’s a distinction.

I can’t understand why some people end up in a long term relationship with an abusive, negative, unkind, inconsiderate or unfaithful partners. People who are unable to commit to a relationship, people who use their partners for financial reasons, clingy etc. How about addictions. Some people have MULTIPLE ADDICTIONS. Is it really that hard to understand this relationship? There are many kinds of disabilities and only some of them are visible.

My 21 year old daughter is in a wheelchair from a back injury. She can walk only about ten feet at a time with a walker. She can not feel her legs from hips down. She also has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. We live in a small town in PA. Most of the stores on Main Street are inaccessible to her. They have step ups. Our world is not accessible to people with disabilities. I never realized until her injury just how inaccessible the world is.

Everyone brings something unique to a relationship....the least of which is how someone looks. If someone is only attracted to someone because of how they look, that relationship will not last. Great video. I love my wife because we share goals and dreams, and talking to her makes me happy. Some people don't get that a relationship is a partnership and that goes way beyond whether a person is disabled or not. I wouldn't change my wife for anyone else.
