What plays a role in our lack of world class managers is for the sole fact nowadays football is based of “rapid results” and how fast you can get a trophy like look how many different managers Chelsea went through by not really giving any of them a true project and plenty of time for long term results

The problem is that maybe the expectations are just higher nowadays i dont fully agree but u could argue that. What i believe is the issue is that nowadays everyone knows everything and we dont forget. So say for example manager does a treble and a double the next year for barcelona then moves to united and fails. We remember the fail way more than the treble double. This leads to us undermining the achievements by current managers. The fact that we sais maybe tuchel is world class proves this point. Failed at bayern but literally got psg the furthest in the ucl they have ever been and made a very average chelsea team win the ucl and hes maybe world class.

@Deathmare235 u could say that but who do that bayern team even have? Neuer is too old. The CB's are average. Midfield is a bit thin. Few world class players but mostly average squad with toxic personalitys in the squad and in the club hierarchy. The point tally bayern got this year with bayern was enough to win the league in every season going back to the 18 19 season. Semi final in the ucl. Tuchel did perfectly fine just 2 teams had unimaginable seasons. No one was catching that leverkusen team not even peps bayern.

Every Top club nowadays is wanting instant gratification. Reality is, in the instance of the Prem, there are four trophies clubs can compete for. Two of them, The FA Cup and EFL Cup, are completely disregarded as essentially worthless trophies by fans. So for top English clubs two trophies only matter. Yet fans use silverware as the measuring stick to success. Xavi won a league title at Barcelona last year, went through a bit of a rough patch this year and ultimately got sacked. That is wild. Now you have clubs like Juve, and Bayern who are trying to replicate what Arteta and Alonso are building yet the second those clubs go through a three game stretch where they pick up 4 points the managers are going to be on the hot seat to be sacked. All that to say is if you want more World Class managers you have to give time and patience to let those younger managers develop and grow. It is the same for World Class players.

There are still plenty of good managers the problem is some clubs you don't know how much control the managers have. It also comes with the amount of money that expectations are high and clubs expect results instantly so managers are risking their future as Adam says. Bayern's board is likely what is putting managers off same with Barca and their finances. 6 bad months or even less at either club and you're out the door

it’s not always about getting the big name manager it’s about getting the right project nowadays, i’d rather slot over tuchel cus tuchel will come in and maybe win a UCL but he’d leave the squad in a worse place than slot and the goal always has to be long term

Ay another clanger from the club lads here just basking on nostalgia. Managers are tactically more adept than ever before. Rory goes on and on about managers such as gerrard and lampard, who in all honestly, were just bad. Emery was also pretty average at Arsenal having them play some of the worst football the club has seen in the better part of the millenium, these lot wouldn't hold this opinion of him 18 months ago. Villa being awful under Gerrard wasn't a player's issue, Gerrard was just a bad manager. A lot of people would've had villa around the position they finished that season under emery.

Its not that there is a lack of talent, its that the talent lacks accolades right now or they have achieved things that the English media/PL fanbase has completely dismissed Its bias towards the biggest leagues that are all dominated by one team that wins most of the accolades, meaning the only trophies that are generally valued are won by the same 5/6 teams and managers every year Slot and Amorim winning leagues with Feyenoord and Sporting is as impressive as Simeone winning La Liga with Atletico based on relative club size and expectations within their leagues, but they get treated like they have to prove themselves to even be considered for a top PL job where as Simeone is seen as world class

Compared to 2014, say ten years ago, Theres a lack of world class strikers World class wingers Central midfielders Defenders Great managers Great teams Great international teams Football is in its mud era. Theres literally only 2 world class teams, every one else is good at best. Think about the teams that were actually very good around 2014, 2015 Peps Bayern, Ancelotti Madrid, Simeone Athletico, MSN Barca, Pellegrini City, Emery PSG, Klopps Dortmund, Allegri Juve, Jose Chelsea. To win the CL in that era, you had to be some team. Now, you just gotta beat City or Madrid. Look who made it to the final of the UCL? Dortmund, a team full of PL rejects and has beens.
