Yep we moved onto a 72ft with a 3 year old, then another came along. We had a mooring in a little village with a school. Was brilliant life to bring children up into. One is 24 one is 19 and our 72ft seems massive as they've both flowen the nest.

I love the way you put your Holly The Coffee Boat channel together. First off, you have an advantage, because you three are all so adorable. After that, I like how you mix it up or is that divide it up between, a day in the life, history lesson, selling coffees and cakes, William the Conqueror, the travel channel, with the sites and sounds of life on the canals in cities and towns and beautiful countrysides, and of course, pure silliness. All and all, you bring joy and happiness to the people around you, like me, with you just being you. Stay groovy and stay safe.

On the answer to Zero's darkness . . it doesn't have to be white walls. It could be a variety of lovely pastels or off-whites tinted more or less. To me true white is for trims and the walls should have enough colour to make the trims stand out. Does that make any sense? take care all!

We don't have a car and what we use is a bike trailer, like the ones that you pull children along in. I don't know how practical that would be for you guys? They do fold down a bit for storage but we always just left them fully assembled, but then we don't live on a boat. They normally come with a small wheel that you can attach to the front and use as a pram. We used them both for our daughter and for shopping. I would pull my daughter along, my partner pulled one filled with shopping. Eventually my partner converted one of them and reduced it down to just the base of the frame and bought one of those large plastic storage containers that clip close at each end and screwed it to the frame. We do our weekly shop with it, have done for years now.

Tern GSD cargo bikes, perhaps? I keep looking at one of them, but it's quite an outlay...... Thank you for another lovely video.
@HarryLovesRuth2 жыл бұрын
GSD owner of almost four years. I love my GSD, but it might be a bit big for a narrow boat, even though the GSDs can sit up on their rear ends. One of the new, smaller Terns (HSD, Quick Haul) might be a better option for boat life. The Yepp Maxi kid seat was perfect for kid transportation on the GSD, and as our child has grown, we've stepped up to the Qibbel Junior seat. When it comes to hauling non-child cargo, I have no complaints. But for Team Holly, I wonder if they should consider a Burley Travoy for supply runs. It folds down much smaller than a child trailer doe, can be used as a hand truck, and can be pulled by a Brompton. The channel Everyday Cycling is a good resource for Brompton+ Travoy information.
@HollyTheCafeBoat2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, this is exactly what we're looking at at the moment. We were thinking of the tern short haul as it's non electric so lighter and smaller but there are so many options out there, and some quite expensive! We'll check out the travoy you mentioned! Thanks again 😁

@@HollyTheCafeBoat CAUTION: Unsolicited Advice Incoming A good ebike is always going to be heavier than its equivalent "acoustic" bicycle. They beef up the tubing to handle the extra force of the motor. I live in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains (the Dolly Parton end of Tennessee, US.) The torque of the mid drive motor has made all the difference for my being able to really use the bike as a passenger vehicle. Having watched your channel for a while, I don't know that you have the elevation changes that make an ebike necessary. The bike's weight does make a difference if you are putting a kid seat on the back. The weight of the GSD contributes to the stability when you have a kiddo wiggling around back there. I took a look at the Short Haul on the Tern website, and based on what I've seen of your use case, it looks like a good option. The lack of a front suspension might be rough. My GSD predates the suspension fork option, and I pray for my eggs on one particular spot on my ride home from the grocery store. I haven't lost an egg, yet. Either the lack of suspension isn't a problem, or the Lord has been with me. I would upgrade the kickstand to the double one. Our experience was that it is impossible for one person to get a kid buckled into a seat without one. The Short Haul doesn't have the typical Tern fold down stem. (I call it "Dead Goose Mode" because I'm morbid.) I have rarely used the fold down option, but I have a house with a garage. It's also not that useful it you mount a rack to the front. You have a more limited space set up than I do, so Dead Goose Mode might make a difference for getting the bike in and out of the hatch.
