Your tours of small river towns are like listening to a museum docent giving tours. Seeing the ghosts of signs painted on brick walls is outstanding. It's art, just on a different canvas. The fine stonework in downtown riverfronts is proof that artisans are everywhere. Thanks for showing those of us who may never see these things otherwise.

That's an interesting way to look at our existence. Quite an interesting idea. Unfortunately, some of the museum is in shambles and our powers to be don't seem to have the solutions either so you and Wavy have the perfect solution. Cruising on the river and not worrying about the mess in the museum and enjoying what is still out there on display.

Brenton, you are traveling on a living history museum. Albeit one that has been rebuilt and modified a few times by the Army Corps. Before the locks and dams, the river was a free flowing one from MN to NO. Consider where you are in this video based around Ft Madison, Keokuk; there once was a series of rapids from the Des Moines River/Keokuk IA/Hamilton IL all the way up to Ft Madison. A canal at Keokuk which went northward, was built. Later came the Lock and Dam, the powerhouse. I wonder if Twain, the pilot, would recognize the Mississippi that you and Wavey have traveled on.

That has to be some of why I'm feeling that way. It's a ride at Disneyland;) where's my shotgun? Lol

Brenton, I just watched your latest. It's strange, in my time on Scioto, I never thought much of the river dropping out by the opening of dam gates, but there you were! But the river depth is ever changing and there is that need to keep enough water in each pool to help ensure the channel remains a minimum of 9 feet. Merry Christmas to you and Wavey!@@brentonsriversidehermitage

The midwest is a special case Donna. I say this as an outsider who did a reverse migration from the West coast. Both coasts, aside from the fringes, are over cooked. The midwest still has some vestiges of a bygone era. Maybe it's the industrial past. Maybe it's the family values. Maybe it's the weather. The cancer is spreading inward...into the heartland. I keep venturing into the nooks and crannies trying to find the places it hasn't flooded into yet

Sadly our museums are becoming depleted. No more than 5 miles from here, up the Savanah river lies two sisters ferry where Sherman's troops crossed into south carolina. Any more, there's very little mention of it. And yes, there are hundreds more in my area. Dating back to both civil and revolutionary times. Sadly, they are leaving us. Your museum metaphor is somewhat similar to the concept furthered by some individuals that we are living in a simulation. Do you feel like, in addition to objects from the past, you are often encountering “non-player” characters in your museum/simulation? This idea of non-player characters harkens to your prior discussion from another video where you discussed individuals who seem to be easily manipulated by the powers that be via social media and traditional news media. I certainly feel more and more detached from the bizarre events and beliefs I encounter today, and I can relate to the feeling that there are remnants of a time gone by all around us that are out of place in today’s society (simulation). Having grown up in a decaying rustbelt city, this is not a new feeling for me, but it is more pervasive for me now.

The "NPC" is a familiar term for sure. I take it so far that there might only be say...10% of the public who are real souls. The rest very likely are NPCs, here to interact with. Response trees to choose from different responses. I also believe many of those NPCs are getting "downloads" from somewhere. Whenever you try to confront them with a different take on things, their eyes roll up for a moment, a download is received, and it's back to the same old defending of the status quo. It's a complete mystery really. If the NPC observation is true, they are increasing, while the real and self aware souls are fewer and far between. Whenever I come across one in the real world, I reflexively latch on to them for dear life.
@deadsoul64527 ай бұрын
Though we have never met, and we have certainly charted different paths in our lives to this point, it brings me joy to follow you on your adventures, because I share so many similar philosophical beliefs with you. The NPCs are everywhere, especially as you ascend to what some might feel are higher levels of the simulation. I appreciate how you go off piste on these adventures, and I encourage you to continue to follow your authentic vision for whatever the future will be.

I have always thought rhat the development of our race has progressed so fast in the last 100 years ..i feel thataybe time is not as linear as we think. That rate of progress and time are related ...that our time has sped up and so progress has sped up. Because most people still mesure time on solwstial events of the sun and moon the relavance of the speed of that time is not noticed . So if some one speeds up the projector the only ones that would notice are the viewers that are out side looking in . 😮

These days, I try not to focus on the "relics" of the past in our country because when I do, all I can think of, is how they represent how great and successful our country once was but no longer is, and I find that dichotomy to be almost physically painful. We've lost so much in our once great nation and the evil and rot which has taken over, is doing nothing but rapidly accelerating. If something drastic doesn't change, like this nation coming back to God and having obedient, loyal leaders to run it, then it's very evident our country won't exist much longer. I still love my country as it existed for most of my life, but I also hate what it's now becoming.
@brentonsriversidehermitage7 ай бұрын
I follow what you're saying. It was a big realization for me when I brought the responsibility back on us, the people. We hold our elected offical accountable (when representative democracy works) and they have to answer to the people. What happened was, too many of us have Beek duped, and compromised, and now they just dupe enough people ..and steal the rest. I hate to say this, but we've gone over a cliff. We're done. Just haven't hit the ground yet. It's coming fast...
@lesb34817 ай бұрын
@@brentonsriversidehermitage Sadly, I agree. I used to think the deteriorating situation in this country could be reversed, but not anymore. The complete dumpster fire this country has become is now burning so fiercely, I doubt it can be stopped before the whole thing burns down to the ground.

To add to the commentary from a really old guys perspective. Yes we are living in a Museum. But it's Relative in respect to time line . Prior to ww2 we were in the great depression after the war we saw the greatest economic boom of history and we as the only industrial nation in the world unscathed by the ravages of war saw the benefits of the boom. But times changed products changed demand changed and some areas of the nation lost industries and jobs as a result the consequence can be seen in the rust belt. The causes of this is a wide expanse of factors. But the primary cause is our savior and bane Capitalism. Free enterprise. Business is almost akways three steps ahead of supply and demand so what where and when is always dictated by demand, and this is turning into a long rant. Basically your observations are 100% correct. But it's all cause and affect
@brentonsriversidehermitage7 ай бұрын
I agree, Dave, and you have a perspective that can only come from being around long enough to get real-world confirmations based on personal observations. In other words, wisdom. The one thing I think you and I might disagree on is the role of capitalism. Of course, it has its blessings and curses, and I'd argue that the world has never truly seen real capitalism. I'd also challenge anyone to come up with a better economic system based on merit, innovation and hard work. Small limited government that actually stays out of the way is ideal, but government is flawed by humans being part of it. The monopoly force of big government is always the freedom killer. Too bad more people don't value freedom. Another showdown ahead....

Human societies face major changes every generation...and there are small changes within generations every five years or so. The American founding generation was much different than the generations that came about in the 1800s. People in the 1870s lived much differently than those in the 1900s. 1900 was much different than 1925...just like 1925 was quite different than 1950. Changes in America come much quicker and are more pronounced than in other places...because America gets millions of new citizens every year...from diverse foreign cultures from around the world. Looking at the decades...even they are quite different from beginning to end. 1963 was quite different from 1968...there was quite a big cultural shift between 2015 and 2020. To make a long story short, human societies and cultures are fluid.

@@brentonsriversidehermitage I heard about "The Fourth Turning" through Alex Jones and other alt media folks. To be honest, I don't read much these days. However, when I do read a socio-political book like "The Fourth Turning," I often find that I had thought the same thing as the authors before reading their book. Not exactly sure why that is...perhaps it is because their ideas are floating around in the zeitgeist...or humans mostly think the same and these findings are easily observable. That all said, on the surface, it does seem that there has been a big socio-political upheaval every 80 to 100 years (every 4th generation) during the past 250 or so years in the West. I figure that most people only really know/remember the main historical events from the past 250 years or so. Also, as Westerners, we focus solely on Western society. I'm not sure the finding in "The Fourth Turning" are valid globally or beyond the past 250 years. We also have to remember that the West has been thoroughly socially and politically engineered over the past 150 or so years (in terms of war-making, some would say this central planning goes back 250 years, at least).
